They look ok when the jewellery is in, but remove the jewellery and they are one of the most ugly things out there.

Am I unreasonable?

They collect what i think.of as ear smeg.

Not sure why but they do. So they have to be cleaned daily.

DeadButDelicious · 05/02/2019 23:36

Obvious question but does it hurt when you start stretching them?

Stretching is meant to be done slowly and with adequate healing time between each stretch. You go to far too soon and yes, it will hurt or blow out (the fistula turns inside out, which is just as pleasant as it sounds).

If you do it properly, going up one size at a time, using high quality stretching tapers, plenty of lube and proper jewellery (tapers are not meant to be worn as jewellery) then it should be a relatively pain free experience. Not completely, it's gonna sting a bit but you shouldn't be in agony. If it bleeds you should stop, abandon the stretch and allow it to heal properly before attempting it again.

This was me and some glowsticks on sun night at the VNV Nation gig in Camden, London. They actually go straight through, the holes are bigger than the glowies. I have few vices, i cant wear much make up, or sometimes any make up, and i also now have no hair. They sort of make me feel nice. Like my very oversized 3XL hoodies and my old knitted beanie hat. Irs not for everyone and im not interested in going more than one size up. I would also shrink them down a bit if i had to, if i was offered a job worth doing it for.

All piercings will smell if they are not cleaned or looked after properly. This includes cleaning your jewellery.

The reasons piercings and stretched ears can smell is because of a build up of sebum / sweat and dead skin cells.

Piercing hygiene is vital to healthy piercings and lobes.

Wooden plugs are better for stretched ears... as they let the skin 'breathe' a bit more.

I clean my ears daily with soap and then moisturise them before putting my jewellery in. I also don't sleep in them and never had a problem.

Vegisgrowingwell · 05/02/2019 23:40

Thank you!

Dextrodependant · 05/02/2019 23:52

They make me feel a bit funny. I would never say it to anyone, it's my issue but I really don't like them.

I am sure lots of people don't like bits of me though.

pumpastrotter · 06/02/2019 09:55

@Kerberos 10mm is about the limit to shrinking them back to normal, I actually had secondary ones at 8mm behind my larger ones, they went back to normal within a few weeks.

@MrsDeanWinchester75 it does sting but nothing major, they're easier to stretch when they're bigger because of gravity - some people even wear weights in their ears to stretch. They do hurt if you force it though, which will cause 'blow out' scarring - I did this at 6mm in one ear and it was not pretty.

@Vegisgrowingwell Basically they build up smegma....they don't smell if they're washed every day (mine are!), it also depends on the type of jewellery. Mine are silicone so it dries them out, wooden are good too but plastic/metal build up stink quick.

Not RTFT, but every cat's arsehole that I've encountered and they luuurve to shove it your face has been, well, tight.

It's where the expression "his/her mouth /lips was/were pursed up like a cat's arsehole" comes from.

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2019 10:51

Yeah I have to agre if my cats arsehole looked like a saggy holey earlobe I would be down the vets sharpish.

DaffydownClock · 06/02/2019 11:06

Utterly grotesque and repugnant- just can't imagine how anyone can find them desirable ☹️

FurryDogMother · 06/02/2019 11:16

@BusySnipingOnCallOfDuty

(Thread derail)

I was at VNV too - don't think I saw you (we were on the balcony), but wasn't it a brilliant night? Ronan's flu meant they postponed the following night in Glasgow, so am really pleased Camden went ahead!

Aeroflotgirl · 06/02/2019 11:19

Yes they are horrible, some as big as dinner plates. Each to their own and all that!

Kerberos · 06/02/2019 17:15

@pumpastrotter thanks! Are secondary holes literally what they sound like? I'm trying to imagine how a 10mm and 8mm hole would fit...?

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 06/02/2019 17:42

Secondary ones are just other ones. I assume.

So the same as someone might have their ear pierced multiple times someone can also more than one tunnel each one can be a different size.

My Dp has a row of 4 on one ear and one on the other.

pumpastrotter · 07/02/2019 09:33

@Kerberos Ginky explained it, I have 9 ear piercings, 3 in each lobe. I've attached a google pic, hopefully works

Tattoos, multiple piercings, stretched lobes - all disgusting in my opinion. Which thankfully doesn’t count for jack shit as people can do what they like with their own bodies.

ReaganSomerset · 07/02/2019 09:49

Oh, thank goodness. I was wondering what the hell you'd done to your poor cat to give it a gaping arsehole.
