They look ok when the jewellery is in, but remove the jewellery and they are one of the most ugly things out there.

Am I unreasonable?

A bit of bling makes all the difference

I have just googled the cheek ones. With a forked tounge sticking out. I genuinely feel quite ill after seeing it.

Gran22 · 03/02/2019 19:02

Ghastly fashion. I don't know how people with septum piercings stop them getting snotty especially when they've got a cold. Yuk.

Thisisthelaststraw · 03/02/2019 19:07

What about those ones in the gum at the front teeth that look like you’ve eaten a brownie and got stuck in your teeth 🤮

longwayoff · 04/02/2019 06:58

I have no understanding at all as to why anyone would willingly do this, any of it. Bewildering to me.

Starfish · 04/02/2019 08:17

I have 26mm flesh tunnels in my ears and just to clear this up: they don't smell or go crusty as long as they're washed regularly ;)

The wind does whistle through them sometimes though, which is pretty cool.

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2019 08:20

'Can't come out tonight I am washing my earlobes'. Grin

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 04/02/2019 08:20

That man with the holes in his lips and cheeks - how does he drink without it spilling everywhere?! Surely using a straw would be difficult because you can't get the suction without the seal at the top? Why would people do that to themselves?

hotwing · 04/02/2019 18:21

Wind whistling through earlobes is definitely not cool.

Each to their own. No-one is holding you down and stretching your earlobes so what does it matter? Humans have been stretching their earlobes for as long as they've been piercing them, it's not a new thing.

BusySnipingOnCallOfDuty · 05/02/2019 08:13

I WONT STOP TIL MY EARS HAVE LARGE DONUTS INSIDE THEM!

Kidding. Mine are 18mm, i will go up no further than 20mm.

I almost exclusively use thin silicone tunnels because they dont create that nasty cheesy smell. I wash them every day and i dont fiddle with them because thats just dirty, its ears fgs. Ive been doing this over 20years off and on. Whilst the holes will appesr to close up the entire way, i cant wear regular earrings except loops, because theyre only superficially closed.

I do think people should think more before doing it, but its been done for thousands of years in different cultures. Those cheek ones though, wtf

DragonSnaps · 05/02/2019 08:22

I thought it was some kinky sex thing haha.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 05/02/2019 08:50

I couldn't have the inside of my mouth on display all the time; surely it's one place you expect to have a bit of privacy?!

I heard it didn't start to be attractive but to make yourself unattractive to prevent being stolen to be some explorers wife. Same as the neck rings. How sad is that.

raindropsonkittens · 05/02/2019 11:21

@AintNobodyHereButUsReindeer that picture you posted was Pauly unstoppable who is now farrah flawless and looks really different now.

I love my 17year old, 26mm, saggy cat arsehole ears Grin they're always a good talking point and even looming at my 30s I have no intention of removing or shrinking them. I have a professional job and it has never been a problem for any of my employers (I only wear silicone tunnels, not the flesh coloured plugs). I've been a bridesmaid twice and wore sparkly plugs, on nights out I wear hoops through them. DH has no piercings or tattoos but enjoys them - apparently he puts his fingers through them when I'm asleep. The only thing annoying about them is strangers think it's OK to come up and finger or pull them - it is not OK.

I was 12 when I started and admittedly only did it to show off because a girl I didn't like wore fake ones. My ears are ugly anyway, I prefer them like this.

And as a PP said above, I don't give a fig what anyone else thinks.

DeadButDelicious · 05/02/2019 11:45

I stretched mine to 5mm so only tiny in comparison to some. I liked the way they looked. They didn't smell, if you do it properly they won't go all cat bummy, mine shrank right back down after I took them out.

I really can't get this worked up at how other people choose to modify/adorn/dress themselves. I have my style, others have there's, they aren't hurting anyone, no ones forcing you to have them, why do you care?

Hazeintheclouds · 05/02/2019 11:55

🤢

SoleBizzz · 05/02/2019 11:58

They're horrible and I feel the same way about tattoos.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 05/02/2019 12:12

Well this makes a change from the tedious tattoo bashing threads I suppose.

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2019 19:30

Yuk at sticking your fingers through the holes in other people's ears.
