I used to like him many years ago, but he's just ridiculous these days. I'm not even sure he believes what he says, just like whipping up people

OP posts:
Boyskeepswinging · 30/01/2019 12:39

Oh Boys. Did you hear the clip that JO’B just played of Theresa May?
No, I didn't (on MN Blush), but if it was as damning as the one NF played last night then fantastic I say! These people need to be called out ... and the BBC ain't going to be doing it anytime soon.

PseudoBadger · 30/01/2019 12:39

You don’t like him because he makes you feel silly?

ShatnersWig · 30/01/2019 12:40

Keep them coming, so much crap suggests to me there must be more than one comment about Mark Carney.

Love the fact he has just obliterated Digby Jones by proving him a liar.

ShatnersWig · 30/01/2019 12:47

“There's not going to be any economic pain [as a result of Brexit]. If there are job losses, they will be very few.”
– Digby Jones 27/07/16

“I made it very clear in every speech I gave that we would be economically worse off.
– Digby Jones 29/01/19

Yeah, James is really talking so much crap pointing out the hypocrisy or outright lies of people isn't he?

Collaborate · 30/01/2019 12:54

The only people JOB makes uncomfortable are those who would rather not admit they made a mistake, or those who would rather not admit they lied.

MrsArabin · 30/01/2019 12:56

I really want to know the ridiculous things.

I know opinion is divided on Mark Carney - Rees Mogg called him "a failed second tier politician" for example. I don't know enough about banking/economics to know whether Carney is any good or not.

But what totally ridiculous or untrue things has James O'Brien said?

raindropsonkittens · 30/01/2019 13:00

He makes me feel sick

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2019 13:06

Any examples of ridiculous statements yet?

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2019 13:06

“He makes me feel sick”

Why?

ShatnersWig · 30/01/2019 13:17

@Bertrand I think we may be waiting some time, sadly. Shame, could be a fascinating discussion here.

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2019 13:34

I just thank heavens for at least one openly left wing broadcaster- particularly on commercial radio. It’s at least a bit of a counter to the Laura Kunnesberg/John Humphrys/Fiona Bruce tendency......

derxa · 30/01/2019 13:36

I just thank heavens for at least one openly left wing broadcaster- particularly on commercial radio. It’s at least a bit of a counter to the Laura Kunnesberg/John Humphrys/Fiona Bruce tendency...... Give me an example of LK's right wing tendencies.

ShatnersWig · 30/01/2019 14:10

Come on @Bertrand, the challenge has been laid down...

QuizzlyBear · 30/01/2019 14:27

His monologues annoy me a bit but they're all inspired by his (and a large part of the country's) frustrations over Brexit.

Unlike other, he does back up everything he says with credible sources and independent experts though, so I'm not sure where you get the 'full of shit' part from...

WetWipesGoInTheBin · 30/01/2019 14:34

@ShatnersWig Digby Jones was being taken apart yesterday on Newsnight by another guest. He's just full of shit.

Oh and all the other presenters on LBC get attacked by Leave voters even if some of them voted leave themselves.

I use to love listening to how people would try and take Iain Dale, before he moved slot, apart when they didn't know his background and voting stance.

MonicaGB · 30/01/2019 14:37

Only ever listened to snippets of his show and he seems to use experts to provide his evidence. I've just listened to a fruit and veg buyer at a supermarket explain how all the tariffs work and basically if there is no deal we will have major food shortages and much more expensive food that is available. How can that not be useful to know?

These experts aren't in it to make money, they are genuinely concerned that the message is not getting through due to people's ignorance or shouting of "project fear".

I like to read all sides of the press to get a balanced view of the situation and it seems to me that the real issues are only just starting to be reported.

ShatnersWig · 30/01/2019 14:38

@WetWipes So I have since discovered, which is obviously why James took it up this morning.

So now we're waiting on the OP to produce more evidence to back up the assertion that he talks so much crap and ridiculousness (seeing as only one was provided) and Bertand to produce evidence about Laura.

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2019 14:40

“Give me an example of LK's right wing tendencies.”

Well, the BBC Trust ruled that she misrepresented Jeremy Corbyn following an interview she did with him.........

IceOnTheCar · 30/01/2019 14:40

I find he is good at debate, he likes to put others down, he is biased and will not change his mind. I don't give him viewing figures because I don't like his behavior.

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2019 14:42

Have we had any examples of O’Brien’s “crap” yet?

IceOnTheCar · 30/01/2019 14:43

Like Katie Hopkins and Owen Jones he is a middle-class Jeremy Kyle, I also don't give JK viewing figures.

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2019 14:44

“he is a middle-class Jeremy Kyle”

What on earth does that mean?

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 30/01/2019 14:45

I am howling with laughter at the idea he speaks crap about Brexit.
No...that would be the idiots who ring his show moaning about EU laws and then not being able to name a single one.

I don’t much like him on the whole but honestly these people really do walk into the Who situation with their utter idiocy.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 30/01/2019 14:46

Think he’s great, his book is a real eye opener.

Bluelady · 30/01/2019 14:49

He's a real breath of fresh air. I must try and find the clip of him demolishing that buffoon Digby Jones.
