Have had issues with them in the past

They are elderly, with two large breed dogs (think Great Danes?). They cannot control them. Honestly the amount of times I have seen them nearly pull them over in the street/simply pull out of their grasp and go bouncing off and jumping all over people is untrue.

Was walking back from the shop and saw them coming from a distance so I stepped to the side into another neighbours driveway and next thing I know- one of them had pulled out of its owners grasp and came bounding over and knocked DD (who is just about getting confident with her toddling) over.

It was over in seconds- by the time I put the break on the pram (was stood on a slopes drive so it would of ran off into the road) and went to grab DD she was already on the floor the dog barking at her- so I kicked it to get it away, and it bit my leg.

I was furious. Owner very embarrassed an apologetic but I’ve said enough is enough and I would be contacting the police and the RSPCA.

Heaven forbid it bounded on the pram and just decided to bite my 2 week old. It would of taken her head off no doubt.

V shaken and waiting for DH to get home to call the police and RSPCA.

I’ve also messaged his daughter on Facebook

Sorry this happened. You’re doing the right thing in reporting it.

Aquamarine1029 · 27/01/2019 18:43

Don't wait to call the police! Call them right this minute!

flameycakes · 27/01/2019 18:43

That is awful and so scary, hope you are both ok, definitely report, the outcome could have been so much worse xxx

PurpleDaisies · 27/01/2019 18:44

Have you had your leg looked at?

Stressedout10 · 27/01/2019 18:44

Is your dd ok

justasking111 · 27/01/2019 18:44

You have to report, from what you say the poor dogs deserve a better life. I know great danes and in the right hands they are lovely pets.

Racecardriver · 27/01/2019 18:45

That sound horrible you poor thing. You must be so shaken. Thank Goethe children didn’t get hurt. If the vote broke your skin be sure to seek medical attention.

OneStepSideways · 27/01/2019 18:45

How terrifying! Definitely report to Police straight away and get them to take photo evidence of the bite. It's an offence for a dog to be out of control in public and the bite makes it a serious crime. Next time it could bite a child or knock over a frail person, causing serious injury or death. Hopefully the police will seize the dogs straight away.

Ffsnosexallowed · 27/01/2019 18:45

Why are you waiting for DH? Call the police now. Hope you and DD are ok. How frightening.

Bibijayne · 27/01/2019 18:46

Call 101 now. Also call out of ours to get your leg looked at. YANBU

Mumof1DS · 27/01/2019 18:46

Your poor DD, she must have been terrified. YANBU. Make the calls.

ThanksItHasPockets · 27/01/2019 18:47

Did the bite break your skin? You must get it looked at.

Beaverhausen · 27/01/2019 18:47

So your daughter was walking besides you and got knocked over probably by accident, you then kicked the dog who retaliated by biting you. Dog did not go to attack your daughter but you attacked dog for barking.

Ok, I take it you live for drama and from the start it is clear you do not like the dogs. You clearly state in the beginning that the dogs will jump on people probably out of excitement. You clearly have your own agenda but that is just my opinion.

Moominfan · 27/01/2019 18:50

Hello op that must have been really scary, please ignore people saying otherwise. A dog doesn't need to bite to be out of control. Hope you all make a speedy recovery

RomanyRoots · 27/01/2019 18:51

if you will go kicking dogs, of course they will bite, what did you think would happen.
The owners need to be reported as they can't contain them properly, but yes, dogs bite if provoked. We learn this as young people.
saying that I can see how you'd panic if you had little ones and you felt threatened.

HavelockVetinari · 27/01/2019 18:52

@Beaverhausen don't be a dick. Any decent parent would do anything possible to get a massive potentially aggressive dog away from their toddler.

Geminijes · 27/01/2019 18:53

You kicked the dog and then it bit you?

RomanyRoots · 27/01/2019 18:53

Why wait for dh, does his penis mean he can make the call better than you? just call the RSPCA, not sure what Police can do, you provoked the animals.

NorthEndGal · 27/01/2019 18:55

If they have had ongoing problems with the dogs, maybe the dogs need to be with fitter owners

sunsalutations · 27/01/2019 18:55

Well said Havelock. I don't know dogs very well, am quite scared of big dogs and my defence would kick in. I wouldn't know what else to do other than kick it - to defend a very young, vulnerable child. What else can you do in that situation? I would have no idea

meow1989 · 27/01/2019 18:55

Oh for goodness sake. I'm a huge animal lover but if a dog who'd just knocked over my child was stood over them barking I'd give it a bloody good kick to get it away and avoid potential danger for my child too!

Can you imagine the outrage if there was a thread where op had nicely asked a dog to stop barking and her child got injured?!

Op I would call police now and get yourself seen to if bite broke skin, you might need a tetanus jab and antibiotics.

TheCrazyDogLady · 27/01/2019 18:55

Definitely report it i am an owner of a larger breed and if my dogs where a danger to people they would be muzzled, you need to report it and get to your go tomorroenfor a tetanus xx

nocoolnamesleft · 27/01/2019 18:56

You clearly provoked the dogs... by moving onto a drive out of their path?! Once the dogs were on top of your child, you were acting in their defence. The owner clearly was not in control of the dogs.

RavenMaven · 27/01/2019 18:56

@Beaverhausen don't be a dick. Any decent parent would do anything possible to get a massive potentially aggressive dog away from their toddler

Couldn't have put it better myself. @Beaverhausen I take it you'd be totally relaxed if a large stuff knocked your toddler over and was barking at her? Because I love dogs. And I wouldn't. I can't guarantee I wouldn't kick out either if I thought my child was in danger. If you think this is normal and fine I hope you don't have either dogs or children Angry

PoliticalBiscuit · 27/01/2019 18:56

Did the dog bound over excitedly and knock your daughter over and barked in excitement?

Or was it being aggressive?
