Anyone else have the longest cold ever?

AIBU to think this is cold beast of all colds and i am now 10% human, 90% virus?

Came on Monday- it’s now Saturday and I don’t feel any better and blowing out a constant stream of disgusting coloured, thick grossness.
I usually get ‘sniffles’ that last for 2-3 days. I’m on penicillin for an unrelated issue, so very much doubt it’s develped into anything bacterial.

Anyone else been overtaken by this beast?

I've had a sore throat and sniffles for over a week and nothing I do is helping. Sad

FuckOffMeadowSoprano · 26/01/2019 10:04

Yep, sick of it. How can there be so much snot? Where does it all come from?

babycatcher411 · 26/01/2019 10:06

Another here feeling sorry for myself with it. Mine started Christmas Day, has periodically got a bit better then come back with a vengeance. Very fed up of it.

MereDintofPandiculation · 26/01/2019 10:06

I'm just coming out of one that started on Boxing Day. So it looks like you've only got another two weeks to go, OP

GobblersKnob · 26/01/2019 10:07

The viruses around this winter are ridiculous. Roll on spring.

Sarahandduck18 · 26/01/2019 10:07

It lasted over a month for me

southnownorth · 26/01/2019 10:07

I think this has been the worst winter ever for colds. Me and DD have been virtually constantly ill on and off with a cold since October.

Daytimetellysucks · 26/01/2019 10:08

I’ve got one that started New Years Eve, but it’s not really becoming a full on cold

I feel like utter shite for a day or 2, then it goes and I feel fine, then a couple of days later it’s back

I wish it would just get on with it

Harryo · 26/01/2019 10:09

I still have the tail end of one that started the beginning of November!

MoaningSickness · 26/01/2019 10:09

Yeah, we've all had some virus for weeks here. Makes me want to hibernate and not see anyone to pick this stuff up!

ImSooooooCold · 26/01/2019 10:12

YABU!! A few days is nothing!! DS has had a cold that will not go since October !

Ansumpasty · 26/01/2019 10:13

Urgh, we should all be in Australia, complaining about the heat and having to stay in our pools all day, far away from the this winter beast Wine

elfycat · 26/01/2019 10:21

DD1 and I have been coughing since November. I'm sure it's one virus as we seem to go through fever-cough-bit better- temperature back-cough-bit better- temperature back etc phases at the same time. Very unlikely we would both catch another cold at the same time as each other.

DH, naturally, has been suffering from man-flu the whole time, despite not developing much in the way of actual symptoms, and having the energy to stay up past midnight watching crap on TV. I suspect this might be the cause of his lethargy.

ChoccyJules · 26/01/2019 10:24

Yep, started 5th Jan and both DH and I still got it, as a PP said it goes through phases but never goes away. Some days more feverish, some days runny nose and sneezing, other days dreadful cough.

Frankly I am sick to death (sorry) of it.

rose789 · 26/01/2019 12:24

I had flu in November, turned into bronchitis, coughing and spluttering for weeks. Then caught a cold, then a sinus infection. Felt better the last 3 days woke up this morning with a streaming nose.
And in amongst all the snot I also had the D&V virus going round Envy - not envy
Although I may invest in shares in Kleenex - make my money back Grin

dancemom · 26/01/2019 12:39

Yes!
It's been about 4 minutes weeks and I'm still having to blow my nose constantly!
Sore throat still coming and going too

Racecardriver · 26/01/2019 12:41

I just got back from Australia and have been sick for a week with no sign of improvement. I’d rather this. Trust me, you don’t want to be in Australia just now.

Racecardriver · 26/01/2019 12:41

Also it’s been way too hot to go in the pool. 47 degrees the other day.

harriethoyle · 26/01/2019 12:44

Yes! Started just after Christmas and still hasn't properly cleared! So tedious...

NoCanoe · 26/01/2019 12:48

Yup! Been ill since mid Dec with what seems to be the 'pik and mix' of viruses.

Flu-ey, streaming cold, hacking cough. Seems to be improving for a day or so, then it's back full throttle.

Am totally fed up. And exhausted.

Thanks for letting me moan! Blush

BettysWoo · 26/01/2019 12:48

Yes. Since the week before Christmas. Has floored me. Better now but lingering.

UniversalAunt · 26/01/2019 12:57

Eheu worst lurgy season here evvvverrrrrrr.

Mid 5th week so far and grinding through days of post-viral fatigue.
Do a little bit too much/go a little bit too far brings back the hacking cough, aching bones and sore throat. So it lies dormant, lurking, stalking my every move (shudders).

Five weeks ! So fed up with it.

Ansumpasty · 27/01/2019 08:41

Oh dear, doesn’t bode well! I used an entire toilet roll on my nose yesterday and thought, ‘this has to clear by tomorrow.’

Nope, it’s just brought sinus pain along with it. Now my daughter has it.

This is the mother of all cold viruses.

Hope you all feel better soon!

Two months so far and counting. As above, there's a couple of better days and then it starts all over again.

Percy11 · 27/01/2019 08:45

Had this horrible lurgy thing for just over 3 weeks. It’s really quite grim.
