To think Tina Malone deserves no sympathy

She's in trouble legally for allegedly sharing photos of one of James Bulgar's killers. She is getting lots of support online but I think people are letting their hatred of the crime cloud their judgement. Surely exploiting a tragedy to get attention is not something that should be applauded! This wasn't done with any intention of "helping" James's family, was it?

He's repeatedly disclosed who he is.

kazillionaire · 26/01/2019 18:36

I remember a couple of years back when that vile scumbag's picture was put online and it was shared thousands of times on social media, I even shared it myself. He gave up the right to live anonymously when he took that poor boy, and I disagree with the order made to protect him when he made a conscious decision to act in the way he did.

BitchQueen90 · 26/01/2019 18:38

YANBU.

Whatever they did it is NOT up to the public to serve justice.

WaxMyBalls · 26/01/2019 18:46

I wonder if your decision to share the photo online contributed to the innocent man in tunnock's town almost being beaten to death kazillionaire?

southeastdweller · 26/01/2019 19:00

Anyone who shares a picture of Venables or Thompson, or pictures that may be them, are misguided at best. Ignorant and sad at worst.

BejamNostalgia · 26/01/2019 19:00

Why does acknowledging that Thompson and Venables came from a troubled background and trying to seek explanations as to why (a) they did what they did and (b) why rehabilitation hasn’t worked, at least in Venables’ case equate to “sympathy” for them at all, let alone over and above everything else?

Because Schmoobarb, people with that attitude generally have a problem separating the 10 year old boy in the picture from the man who is almost 40 and committed pretty repulsive crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children as an adult. They generally try and deny his responsibility for those crimes too and insist they are 'the systems ' fault. You'll exaggerate the problems in his childhood. It doesn't matter what he does it who it harms, you'll give him chance after chance after chance and ignore any warning signs.

These threads are always the same.

Servalan · 26/01/2019 19:09

Bejum, with the greatest of respect, I think it is you that is having trouble separating the 10 year old boy in the picture from the man who is almost 40.

As a man who is almost 40, he has adult responsibility for things he does now as an adult.

At 10 he was a child.

itsbritneybiatches · 26/01/2019 19:14

But as an adult he's still displaying the worrying signs he was as a child.

He's not rehabilitated is he.

itsbritneybiatches · 26/01/2019 19:17

Would you want to know if he was living in your street? Postcode?

I would!

Servalan · 26/01/2019 19:25

But as an adult, he is going to jail for his crimes and presumably is on the sex offenders register under his new name

Servalan · 26/01/2019 19:26

And what about Robert Thompson? So far there are no reports of him going back to jail. Perhaps he is successfully rehabilitated...

icannotremember · 26/01/2019 19:28

Would you want to know if he was living in your street? Postcode?
What would you do if you did?

findingmyfeet12 · 26/01/2019 19:31

If you want to know if he's living in your street, challenge the anonymity order through the courts, lobby parliament, etc. It's not ok to break the law.

WaxMyBalls · 26/01/2019 19:36

Speaking as the first person in the thread to raise the possibility that JV's continued behaviour means he should be imprisoned for life to protect the public, I think it's absolutely vital to consider his background and try to understand why rehabilitation hasn't worked.

itsbritneybiatches · 26/01/2019 19:38

I wouldn't have to do anything.
I live in Liverpool. I went to school with him
I know what he looks like.

As do probably all of my neighbours.

But people in the rest of the county don't.

What would you do?

Aridane · 26/01/2019 19:48

Stupid attention seeking woman

kazillionaire · 26/01/2019 19:49

No it had nothing to do with that. It was around the period that the little rat was getting done for having child porn so he obviously hadn't got a shred of remorse

BlancheM · 26/01/2019 19:51

Innocent people get vigilantes at their door because of idiots mindlessly clicking 'share' on any old photo.
Tina seems to find herself in trouble quite a lot, sympathy is wearing thin.

Greensleeves · 26/01/2019 19:54

I sometimes wonder how much therapy JV was provided with and how he was supported to process the crime and what had happened to him as a child going through that overwhelming experience of being tried etc. I wonder whether his reoffending and his sexual interest in children has anything to do with unresolved trauma around what he did. They were very young.

Vigilante "justice" and baying for blood makes me sick. It's usually irredeemably thick people who indulge in it.

WaxMyBalls · 26/01/2019 19:54

How do you know it didn't kazillionaire?

Evilspiritgin · 26/01/2019 19:58

Trouble is the some of the sort of people that share things like this are the ones that mistake paediatricians for paedophiles and called all the doctors and nurses at alder hey last year

icannotremember · 26/01/2019 20:02

I don't know what I would do. I said upthread I'd want to do something terrible, but didn't think I actually would. I'm not sure I would actually want to know, tbh, because I'm not sure how knowing could be of any benefit.

I read an interview with Denise Fergus once where she said she should know their faces, she should always be able to know whether people she met were them. I agreed with her. She should always be sure she isn't standing next to, may be even speaking to, one of her son's killers. And she's made it very clear she doesn't think their identities should be made public or that they should be subject to vigilante justice, so I don't see any risk if she knows. But the rest of us... what real purpose does it serve?

CoughLaughFart · 26/01/2019 20:03

So obviously it was one of the killers then and not a possibly innocent person. So it was his photo.

And this is precisely the problem. You’ve made a stupid assumption. Others will make the same stupid assumption, which will lead to people trying to use these pictures to locate him and enact their own vigilante ‘justice’.

The offence is ATTEMPTING to identify someone granted lifelong anonymity. It’s irrelevant whether it’s him in the pictures or not.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/01/2019 20:12

I went to school with him. I know what he looks like.

Yes but that must have been around 26 years ago. As an adult I look nothing like my 10 year old self.

Crappygilmore · 26/01/2019 20:12

Yes she did something wrong against the law bla bla blah. But those two evil cunts deserve what they get. I hope they never sleep another night for what they did. She is a scapegoat. Easy target.
