To think Tina Malone deserves no sympathy

She's in trouble legally for allegedly sharing photos of one of James Bulgar's killers. She is getting lots of support online but I think people are letting their hatred of the crime cloud their judgement. Surely exploiting a tragedy to get attention is not something that should be applauded! This wasn't done with any intention of "helping" James's family, was it?

Never mind mistaken identity. I don't want criminals beaten to death on the streets either. But then I am a snowflake so what do I know.

Imstickingwiththisone · 26/01/2019 11:37

There was no precedent for this case, but if they were going to offer lifelong protection they should just never have revealed their identities in the first place. The amount of time they served was definitely disproportionate for the severity of the crime. How could they have been rehabilitated in that time when their minds were so warped from such a young age? Clearly Jon Venables hasn't, but he seems to make his presence really well known to people like he is on self destruct. Who knows what Robert Thompson is up to, but just because he hasn't been caught doesn't mean he hasn't reoffended.

Saying that I don't think anyone should share pictures, it will never help matters.

NutElla5x · 26/01/2019 11:39

I can never understand why these boys are treated with more vitriol that adult killers.

They were 10 year old boys ffs. They've served their time. No, it wasn't my child they killed but there's a reason why we have a justice system and why victims and mobs are not the ones who decide the level of punishment.

I'd be interested to know what people would prefer - give them no anonymity and let them be lynched? If so, I hope these aren't the same people who then go on to criticise the Saudis or other countries for their policies.

Venables is still offending though-at least twice for having indecent images of children. He had a paedophile manual ffs,he is still a danger to kids and yet they still keep letting him out. They need to throw away the fucking key.

CatnissEverdene · 26/01/2019 11:46

Just imagine though that the photo isn't one of those excuses for human beings, but someone completely different and innocent.

No one knows for sure it IS one of them. And that person may ended up being attacked or killed by a vigilante.

She showed a poor lack of judgement, as has everyone else who has shared the images.

honeyrider · 26/01/2019 11:49

How can a judge in the UK ban other countries from printing photos outside the UK?

YouSayPotatoesISayVodka · 26/01/2019 11:49

My sympathies lie with James’s parents and whoever is in the images shared who is NOT Thompson or Venables. Because really, does anyone really know 100% if it is them? I’ve seen all sorts of different picture shared on social media with the individual adamant that the man in the photo is one or the other. There’s been a fair few and they can’t all be Thompson or Venables.

Do I agree with silencing the media about where these 2 are and what they look like? I don’t know really but I am definitely against vigilante justice.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 26/01/2019 11:50

bluntness
I apologise, somehow I managed to completely miss read half of your post, I thought it was unusual for you to post something lukethat so should have re-read, just getting pissed off with the amount of idiots who don't think about the consequences of their actions.
Sorry

Flanuary · 26/01/2019 11:50

She’s a fucking idiot and I hope they throw the book at her.

Fowles94 · 26/01/2019 11:52

They're disgusting and should not be protected.

findingmyfeet12 · 26/01/2019 11:59

Excellent point, well made Fowles.

CoughLaughFart · 26/01/2019 12:09

I can't stand the woman, but I think we should all be retweeting their pictures. I'm sorry, but I don't want that scum living anywhere near me.

And what do you think would happen if they were correctly identified and their addresses made public? Would the authorities simply shrug their collective shoulders and say ‘Oh well, we tried - too late now’? No - the killers would be given new identities again, be moved again, all at a cost to the taxpayer. In the meantime, the innocent people around them - neighbours, welfare officers - are put at risk. All because you had to know where ‘that scum’ were.

The powers that be are aware that one of them is a recidivist.

Revealing his identity won't change the decisions being made about his future detention. If people feel strongly about it perhaps they ought to campaign and lobby for a change in the current policy.

Oh wait, posting photos on social media about one high profile case is easier so just do that instead.

YogaWannabe · 26/01/2019 12:16

Of all the things to get wound up and have “no sympathy” for, someone sharing a picture of these two wouldn’t make the cut for me. Strange.

itsbritneybiatches · 26/01/2019 12:28

I think theyre scum bags so i really couldn't give a fuck.

This.

I'd want to know of either of those two were
Living new rme and could potentially be mixing with my daughter, nephews and nieces.

I have every sympathy for her.

Imstickingwiththisone · 26/01/2019 12:29

Sarahjconnor that's bollocks. Firstly, not everyone from Liverpool is sharing those pictures, secondly not everyone is a friend of the family and thirdly, the culture of white working class people? Either people are mindless and will act on a knee jerk response to something they don't like, and give no thought to the consequences. Or they will be aware there could be repercussions and avoid it but nonetheless sympathise with the genuine victims.

WaxMyBalls · 26/01/2019 12:30

Speaking as a white working class person from the north who hasn't shared the images and doesn't know anyone who has, I find the idea that this is something that must be taken into account as part of our culture rather problematic. It is possible to live on a council estate and be against mob justice.

findingmyfeet12 · 26/01/2019 12:33

Are people more interested in these two living in their neighbourhood than other criminals, including other killers, rapists, peadophiles etc?

itsbritneybiatches · 26/01/2019 12:35

No they're not.

But those people haven't had their identity changed have they.

findingmyfeet12 · 26/01/2019 12:38

Am I to take it then that people regularly look into the backgrounds of all the people that their children come into contact with or live near to ensure that they aren't murderers, rapists or paedophiles?

ilmmaiss · 26/01/2019 12:40

The men may be scumbags that don't deserve protecting but the law says otherwise, for lots of reasons, and she broke that law. She deserves everything she gets, she knew what she was doing.

itsbritneybiatches · 26/01/2019 12:52

If I don't know them then yes.

It's what Sarah's law was created for.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/01/2019 12:56

If I don't know them then yes.
Its what Sarah's law was invented for.

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 26/01/2019 13:00

She's stupid but as a pp said loads of people shared that picture. It was certainly all over my social media. Why aren't they going after the platform? If you see something online with a button from the provider saying "share" then there's an assumption that there won't be repercussions from sharing it because you'd think that the platform, with all the resources re lawyers etc that they have, would block anything illegal.

Aeroflotgirl · 26/01/2019 13:00

Sorry I don't give a toss about him, he deserves it. But is it Jon Venables can she be certain, and not an innocent man, that is my worry!
