AIBU to think Mrs Hinch needs to get a life?

I recently started following Mrs Hinch on Instagram and she irritates me so much. I understand that she likes a clean home, who doesn't, but she really, really needs to get a life.
Cleaning is not, and should not ever be a hobby. Clearly she has a lack of personality if cleaning is a hobby.

I think what really pissed me off is how incredibly bad for the environment all those chemicals and plastic bottles are. It annoys me that so many people seem to enjoy her stuff and do as she does when she is pouring loads of chemicals sold in plastic bottles into the drain every year.

I bet there is already a thread on this very subject on her left somewhere but I'll admit I didn't look before I wrote this. I just needed to vent my annoyance.

OP posts:

I'm disgusted at your bullying OP, bullying is not, and never should be a hobby.

WinterWife · 24/01/2019 22:04

If you look closely you’ll see she takes a load of photos on one day and then uses them for a few months. I don’t think for a second she’s cleaning up a storm every day. I think she’s actually quite canny how she’s making it look like she is!

She uploads videos every single day where she's cleaning various rooms. Rarely uploads photos Confused

LadyTabasco · 24/01/2019 22:06

Jayteedee lets see your 10 year challenge pics

LtJudyHopps · 24/01/2019 22:16

Jayteedee orrrr the poor girl lost weight maybe?

OP stop being horrible. I’ve followed her for a few weeks she seems lovely. She was a hairdresser but she’s had health issues and is on blood thinning injections daily and has stents in her legs so can no longer work as a hairdresser. Bit harsh to tell her to get a life no? I’m sure cleaning gives her some control that she’s lost through health issues. Does it make you feel better to attack someone you don’t think will see it? Oh but it’s ok all of a sudden it’s about your concern for the environment!

GlitterStick · 24/01/2019 22:20

@Jayteedee Jesus, aren't you a peach.
Why bring her looks into it?
Bullshit these threads are just about the environment.
Fucking nasty.
As pp said, let's see you then and your 10 year challenge and see what you look like.

Tenpenny · 24/01/2019 22:23

Id wondered if her cleaning habits had developed from a need for control due to some some sort of difficult life events, didn't know she'd been so ill. This was the case with someone on Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners aswell

tiredteddy123 · 24/01/2019 22:33

Yes. Yes YABVU. And a bully.

WendelFong · 24/01/2019 22:42

Are you being sponsored by the words 'lack of personality'?

Matilda15 · 24/01/2019 22:43

I don’t understand the vitriol towards her, I think she’s pretty funny and seems nice.
I’ve bought a few bits she’s posted storage wise and some of the products, everything she talks about is accessible to everyone which is quite refreshing! Makes a change from watches, slimming powders and teeth whitening.

Starlight90 · 24/01/2019 23:24

I like my cleaning products and ive kept my home clean for years when this person was in primary school! I find her interesting but its what we all do.

And I recycle all my plastics.

Guineapiglet345 · 24/01/2019 23:31

Anyway I don’t understand why there have been 3 threads about her, it all seems pretty inoffensive to me. If you don’t like it then don’t watch it. Simple.

MissB83 · 24/01/2019 23:44

Tbf it is better to be pouring cleaning fluids down the sink than pouring fat and oil down the sink- which unbelievably some people still do! Have they never seen those tv shows with the poor guy in the sewer scraping off the fatbergs?

The thing which confused me about Mrs Hinch was that I thought her whole Instagram account was in monochrome (ie it was black and white photos) but then realised that all her decor was actually shades of grey. Reminded me of the Wizard of Oz. Would be funny if it just turned glorious technicolour one day!

KoraBora · 24/01/2019 23:48

Let's face it Mrs Hinch has committed the cardinal sin of getting above her station. If she was suitably middle class in a big house with a range cooker , while shilling high value items out of most people's reach, she would be inspirational. Her house isn't to my taste but i reckon most here would not like mine either.

The woman she done incredibly well for herself and good luck to her.

KoraBora · 24/01/2019 23:49

*has not she in my final paragraph.

GlitterStick · 24/01/2019 23:58

Eesh, have read about those fatbergs! Not nice understatement they block up sewers.
Mix of hardened, cool oil down the sink and wipes. I wouldn't even flush wipes that are supposedly flushable down there. If you (general you) use them, make sure they go in the bin and not down the bog.

BBTHREE76 · 25/01/2019 00:33

Is this for real? It’s so boring now? Op - she’s not for you. Fine, unfollow and move on. She is a person with feelings and is also pregnant. Throwing around insults just makes it look like YOU need to get a life. And to get the usual boring stuff out of the way, I am not... Mrs Hinch, a friend or relative. No I don’t stay at home at clean 24 hours a day. I have a full time job and a clean house and kids. It is possible to have a clean house just because it helps with anxiety, so threads like this are personal and unhelpful 😡

patchworkquilt1 · 25/01/2019 00:41

Yanbu OP
The whole thing is so bizarre
Hinch army... makes me think of the computer game lemmings from years ago

patchworkquilt1 · 25/01/2019 00:48

@finks100 I bet you're right
@GlitterStick always pops up on these threads and defends her tirelessly... regardless of the time of day or night

slappinthebass · 25/01/2019 01:01

I'd heard of her but never got round to looking her instagram up. Just have and I'm quite confused it's just the exact same photos of the most boring grey and white all over decorated home over and over and over again. From the same angles. Maybe the story's are where it's at. I do definitely see the appeal in cleaning bloggers and day to day vloggers, and I'm guilty of watching the occasional speed clean video on YouTube to try and stop me procrastinating...but have to agree with you and can't fathom why everyone thinks that particular house looks so nice and inspiring.

GlitterStick · 25/01/2019 01:02

It's a bit like Mrs Beaton. The cook book woman. For years i've pictured her as an elderly plump old cook and it turns out she wrote the book at 24 or something and DIED at 28

Wha?! I've heard of Mrs Beaton, Mrs Beaton cookbooks lady?!
Off to google. Always same as you thought of her as old mum type.
Is it the use of the word Mrs? Makes us assume old and elderly? Plump and bustly round the kitchen in pinnies?
That's pretty sad if so. including myself in this
Now we can see it's not always the case due to social media, not so much in Mrs Beaton's day.

Sweetpea55 · 25/01/2019 06:11

She won't have as much time for cleaning when the baby arrives

GingerbreadBlob · 25/01/2019 06:29

No idea who she is. Off to Instagram to find out.

MsSquiz · 25/01/2019 08:00

@KoraBora you've totally hit the nail on the head!

MacarenaFerreiro · 25/01/2019 08:09

I certainly wouldn't want to be friends or spend any time with someone whose main hobby is cleaning.

How incredibly dull.

Failbydefault · 25/01/2019 08:24

Mrs Hinch, if you are on here, I have no issue with your love of cleaning (each to their own). Could you please use your platform to encourage more people to use non toxic cleaning products which have less impact on the environment. This may attract many more followers for you and would have a positive influence on our environment. Thanks
