To wonder how much Mrs Hinch spends in the average day?

I'm on maternity leave now and have no life so I'm noticing all kinds of busybody things like the next door neighbours leaving their front door wide open all night and shit like that.

I've seen some of Mrs hinch on insta today.
Cleaning and motivational yada yadas alright if you don't mind the amount of chemicals & fumes but by god is most of it not just daily updates of "bought this" "swipe up for the link to these I bought"

I'm not cheap by any means but who buys so much crap each day, like her house isn't that big, and I'm sat wondering what she's done with all of last weeks storage boxes and shite because I have no life

Does she donate it all? Is it all gifted? Nobody can keep up with that much shopping for one household.

I'm on my own here aren't I? Grin

I live in the SE she seems pretty normal to me. One of my cousins has been like this for years. Everything is very ‘Essex style’ with a lot of cleaning and redecorating and washing and cleaning things all the time
New build homes feel better and easier to keep clean

I was shopping the other week and could not believe how much Method products cost. I walk straight past them because I cannot afford them! So it is not hard to believe that people will continue to buy cheap AND effective products

justasking111 · 24/01/2019 12:41

She is one smart lady, making a bundle of money albeit some of it in kind. She does not have to worry about a few detractors.

CaptainCabinets · 24/01/2019 12:41

I didn’t get it at all when I first heard of her. I wondered how someone had become famous for cleaning her house like the rest of us. I followed her out of curiosity and got sucked in Grin, she seems very sweet and genuine.

She also posts a lot about how anxious and upset people on the internet have made her feel with their personal attacks, so please do bear in mind that she does read these threads and she is a real person with real feelings.

If you don’t like what she does, that is absolutely fine, but there is no need to get personal.

staydazzling · 24/01/2019 12:42

Method products are quite dear.

Billballbaggins · 24/01/2019 12:45

I like her, she’s done well and is making money from social media. Fair play to her! I agree with previous posters that most criticism of her is snobbery. Search any Mrs Hinch thread on here and you can see it.

She gets sent free things, she also buys things. It’s her money, she can buy what she likes.

Ginnymweasley · 24/01/2019 12:53

I saw an article about her the other day, personally I don't understand the appeal of watching someone clean but each to their own. I also wouldn't want my house to be so bland but it's not my house.
I didn't choose to follow her for these exact reasons.

grinchypants · 24/01/2019 13:04

I'm surprised that sustainable products and more environmentally friendly cleaning products aren't getting behind her to be fair, she would make a fortune I'm sure.

I don’t think that’s her MO though. SHe clearly shops with the cheap as chips well known established stinky harsh cleaning products that get Shit Clean

grinchypants · 24/01/2019 13:08

Also I think I've seen about 60 different sets of storage boxes being opened or unboxed like an excited kid on YouTube.
I want to see her pantry, her garage, and her loft. I bet her loft is where they all go, all organised and neat.
It's like watching a tv show and wondering what happens after the credits.

She just seems to purchase endless streams of cheap tat

sherrysfortea · 24/01/2019 13:21

I do find her videos cathartic for some reason and have started using a couple of products as per her recommendation but don't buy into the whole craze

She buys an awful lot of stuff from eBay, some of which are disasters and I think gets gifted a lot of bits as well. A lot of the stuff she buys seems to be cheap stuff which probably won't last.

She flew first class to her honeymoon in the Maldives though so must be doing ok!

NameChanger22 · 24/01/2019 13:21

*The 4 most important things a human can do to reduce their environmental impact are:

  1. Eating a plant based diet
  2. Having only one child
  3. Avoiding air travel
  4. Doing without a car

How many of you are sticking to these principles? And if you aren’t, then how do you justify your hypocrisy in criticising others?*

Yeah, I do all of those. Can I get a medal?

PookieDo · 24/01/2019 13:24

I don’t live that far from her and here is a horrible hard water area. The water is gross and ruins everything. I have tried so many different things to clean the bloody limescale and only Cilit Bang works! I do not want to be faffing about with bicarbonate pastes

Calvinsmam · 24/01/2019 13:24

I do all of those things and I don’t even have one child.

It’s ridiculous to suggest that if you don’t do any of those things then there’s no point in doing anything though.

NameChanger22 · 24/01/2019 13:33

I don't think there is any bullying or classism going on. I'd never heard of her before today. I'm working class. I don't like her style at all, it's boring, as is cleaning all day long. I was just wondering why she was getting so much attention and followers? Cleaning and having a mediocre grey home, is that what makes you famous these days??

And people who put themselves in the spotlight know they will get people who love them and people who don't. They usually don't care as long as they're making lots of money, all publicity is good publicity.

NotANotMan · 24/01/2019 13:47

Has anyone who doesn't 'get' her seen her instagram stories? They are sweet, funny and relatable. As I said it's not my style of living at all but I see why people like her

Ladyoftheloch · 24/01/2019 13:48

It’s ridiculous to suggest that if you don’t do any of those things then there’s no point in doing anything though.

That’s absolutely not what I am saying. I’m saying that 1) people dress up their classism and snobbery as environmental concern / concern about her baby etc. because they know it’s more acceptable; and 2) that people seem to think that criticising Mrs Hinch for using chemicals is somehow a form of environmental activism itself, without considering how hypocritical this is when they don’t mitigate the impact of their own lifestyle.

I am obviously not referring to all people here, or any particular posters on this thread. So there is no need for anyone to try and prove their environmental credentials to me. For one thing, this is the internet and everyone is anonymous and so I have no cause to believe anything anyone might say about themselves. But more importantly, it’s not the point. I’ve spoken in very general terms throughout the thread about the overall tide of sneering, classist, snobby sentiment that characterises the Mrs Hinch threads. If you genuinely don’t believe you have contributed to that, then fine. My comments don’t apply to you.

sherrysfortea · 24/01/2019 13:50

@Calvinsmam agree

If we don't do any of the above then should we all just freely use endless chemicals and plastics because the damage is already being done? Or should we look at the small changes everyone can make which put together make a big difference

grinchypants · 24/01/2019 13:58

I don't think pointing out that you have a certain amount of responsibility as an influencer is snobbery or in any way shape or form a dig.

It's not what the thread was about though. It was light hearted. She's got a gazillion followers, I wasn't sure if anybody else wondered the same thing.

Turns out it's her garage.

OP posts:
Calvinsmam · 24/01/2019 14:00

Oooooor

Maybe some people do just have concerns about the fact that she’s encouraging people to use lots of harmful to the environment chemicals and contributing to a huge amount of plastic waste. Especially if they are working hard to eliminate it themselves.

I am working class, grew up with a single parent on benefits, Mrs Hinch is far richer than I’ll ever be.
There’s no way Mrs Hinch couldn’t afford to use more environmentally friendly products, or at least discourage people from buying multiples of the same product just because they have a slightly different scent, or to not just pour zoflora needlessly down your toilet.
But the more of this shit people buy the more she gets paid.

It’s not about her personally, it’s just a very unethical business model that encourages waste.

Calvinsmam · 24/01/2019 14:11

And she has over 1.6 million followers if only half of them are pouring zoflora down their sinks and toilets every week that’s a huge impact on the waterways that we all share.
Zoflora clearly states on the back ‘kills marine life’, to think it’s not creating an issue is ridiculous.

LadyDeadpool · 24/01/2019 14:15

Credit to Mrs Hinch after seeing her on instagram and reading the threads here I've decided to switch my entire cleaning range over to Wilkos new eco friendly range - plant based, recycled bottle, river safe. I did notice my asthma has been getting worse when using chemicals but it was the discussion raised on this thread about the damage caused by chemicals that gave me the final push to switch over so I guess I can indirectly thank her for that Grin

grinchypants · 24/01/2019 14:17

@Calvinsmam if she partnered with a cloth nappy company and maybe ecover laundry detergent,
Or endorsed things like eco coconuts she would make an absolute fortune with the following she's got, because the demand is there for people wanting to do better but not knowing what's out there.

OP posts:
BeTheHokeyMan · 24/01/2019 14:22

100% agree with everything you've said ladyoftheloch

Calvinsmam · 24/01/2019 14:24

@grinchypants

But she won’t do that because she is already partnered with the pink stuff, savers and loads of other companies, I remember a competition she did early on with Procter and Gamble products.

The issue with eco products is people don’t buy as many.
