To think that Steve Wright on Radio 2 sounds tired?

Just that really. I think this show has run its course now. Lots of lazy links to fake Jeremy and now Paul McCartney. My Dad says he was great in his day but I think maybe his day has ended? It would be great to hear a new DJ inject some freshness into the station.

Steve Wright sounded tired and cliched in tbe 1980s. I'm old. Radio 1was dull until about 7 o'clock at night.

AngelinaNeurosurgeon · 25/01/2019 17:03

In the interest of research I just listened to some of the show - the Serious Jockin' segment. Excruciating, like a really bad wedding DJ who thinks he's great. I'm no longer listenin'

MsMustDoBetter · 25/01/2019 17:05

Steve Wright depresses me, it's is so dated. I can't imagine anyone under the age of 60 actually enjoys his show.

I am loving Zoe and Sara - so fresh and fun!

IndigoSpritz · 25/01/2019 18:07

I stopped listening to Jamie Cullum on Tuesdays quite recently. His grasp of what constitutes jazz music is often questionable and he's not a capable broadcaster. Every other word from him is 'umm'. I lost interest in Steve Wright and Jeremy Vine about a decade ago and Ken Bruce is facetious and every bit as past it as Steve Wright. I'd probably do Popmaster if it wasn't for Ken Bruce. And whilst I'm bashing Radio 2, find a decent presenter for Sounds Of The Sixties and put it back to 8 o' clock on Saturday morning.

That's all.

IndigoSpritz · 25/01/2019 18:13

Richard Allinson was one of the best presenters Radio 2 had. His Saturday afternoon programme many years ago was excellent. Three hours long but I usually heard the whole programme. Where is he now ?

IAmWonderWoman · 25/01/2019 18:14

I love Sara, she’s great. Jeremy Vine is pure Daily Mail. The questions he asks are just plain stupid.

BackIntoTheSun · 25/01/2019 18:20

I have to turn him off straight away, he sounds so smug and cheesy. I don't understand how he still has a job, he sounds so dated

HRTpatch · 25/01/2019 18:22

Johnnie Walker is the best dj on R2. Someone who actually knows his stuff, not some god awful C list celebrity.

PabloTescobar · 27/01/2019 13:16

@IndigoSpritz Richard Allinson does the drivetime show on Magic.

Daisywho · 27/01/2019 15:08

Whaaaat I LOVE Steve Wright, have listened to his Radio 2 afternoon show since I was 15 and on exam leave, now in my mid thirties and I still rate him, he’s ace!

I used to love the Big Quiz back in my student days... now DD and I have kitchen discos to serious jockin’. Grin I would genuinely be devastated if his show ever went.

Must admit we do love a bit of Craig Charles on 6Music on a Saturday evening though.

Agree that Richard Allinson needs to come back to R2, but loving the bits I’ve caught of Rylan so far.

KittyMcAllister · 27/01/2019 15:11

I caught a bit of Rylan yesterday and was quite impressed actually. Very natural and great with callers.

Petalflowers · 27/01/2019 15:19

Yes, Rylan is a happy surprise. He’s not the obvious choice for radio, and I admit, I was sceptical, but he actually is quite good.

billysboy · 27/01/2019 15:28

Love Sara Cox as she is not as needy as Zoe , however Zoe is better than Chris Evans tf he has gone !

Steve wright gets half a million quid a year for his shite plus the other hangers on Janey and the Twat Tim
He should be long gone
Gary Davies did a fair job, not really feeling the Craig Charles love

billysboy · 27/01/2019 15:31

surprised they dont give the show to Dr Sarah Jarvis as she is on so bloody often !

IndigoSpritz · 27/01/2019 15:33

Thankyou Pablo. Good to know RA is still broadcasting.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/01/2019 15:58

Dr Jarvis and her clacky mouth are the Monday special.

BestIsWest · 27/01/2019 16:31

I love Ken, Sara, Vanessa, Michael Ball, Johnnie Walker and Craig Charles. I’m also loving Rylan.
SteveWright, Jeremy Vine, and EP can do one.

Jury’s out on Zoe Ball.

Most of all I love Pick of the Pops though I preferred Tony Blackburn presenting it.
