Who asks if I'm having twins?

I'm only 28weeks pregnant and have far too long to go to be hearing this comment daily.

I feel massive and tired and grumpy and I'm measuring exactly what i should be!!

Whitescarf · 22/01/2019 12:55

Yanbu

Mumof1DS · 22/01/2019 12:56

I got this. I used to look them in the eye and say "no, I'm just huge". They soon look embarrassed Grin

badlydrawnperson · 22/01/2019 12:57

YANBU no jury would convict :)

M3lon · 22/01/2019 12:58

'why do you want to know? Are you looking to buy a child?'

explodingkitten · 22/01/2019 13:01

Tell them no, it's triplets Grin

FaithInfinity · 22/01/2019 13:03

I got comments like this. It was irritating. I also had one colleguage say Well it’s not going to be a small baby, is it?!. She was 5lb 4oz at 38+5! Hmm

I think I’d be sarcastic and say stuff like Gasp! Do you think they missed one on the scan?!. People are just trying to make conversation but it’s insensitive, I always felt like people were implying I was fat and it was even worse when she was born low birth-weight!

BonfiresOfInsanity · 22/01/2019 13:03

I used to get this all the time when I was having DS2, one friend in particular used to say it to me jokingly everyday almost. How I laughed when a few months later she found out she WAS expecting twins!

SittingAround1 · 22/01/2019 13:06

Meghan is that you ?

SittingAround1 · 22/01/2019 13:06

DonCorleoneTheThird · 22/01/2019 13:08

people don't think, or are just ignorant.

They don't realise that some pregnant women are panicking because they are measuring big, or small, and that it could be the signs of something going wrong.
You know you are measuring fine, ignore them, but other women who are stressed are reminding every time of all that could be wrong with their babies.

Whitescarf · 22/01/2019 13:09

I hear it everyday at work, and also from MIL everytime we see her. It didn't bother me in the beginning but now I get pure rage when someone does say it Grin

OP posts:
M3lon · 22/01/2019 13:10

for work you need 'its not professional to comment on a co-workers body'

For MIL you need 'do me a favour and change the record'.

M3lon · 22/01/2019 13:11

Though I'd still like to try 'If I do have a spare in there are you interested in taking it off my hands?'

Sexnotgender · 22/01/2019 13:11

People need to learn to not say stupid shit to pregnant women.

I’m passed my due date and the amount of people who say, have you not had the baby yet? Does it look like I’ve had the fucking baby??!

DonCorleoneTheThird · 22/01/2019 13:29

Does it look like I’ve had the fucking baby??!

don't go there, I know a couple of women who have been asked when the baby was due AFTER they had given birth...

NEVER comment on that subject, EVER Grin

TrixieFranklin · 22/01/2019 13:47

Haha I had this and I was having twins, when I said yes actually I am, they'd never know what to say..

UbbesPonytail · 22/01/2019 13:51

My theory is people forget how big bumps actually are. I looked full term from about four months and just stayed that way. I don’t know what people expected me to do about it, was just the way I carried!

SusanWalker · 22/01/2019 13:51

I had the opposite to this. I am very tall and both my babies laid transverse. I was working in a bar with my second at 6 months when a customer bought us all a drink. My boss said I'll get you a J2O to which the customer said no go on get her a proper drink. He was shocked to find out i was pregnant. Then I realised everyone had just thought I'd got really fat.

So I feel for you but from the opposite point of view.

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 22/01/2019 13:55

I had this! More than a few times. Also used to drive me nuts when people I didn't know very well casually patted my bump. Grrr...

xJune88 · 22/01/2019 13:57

I'm 24 weeks and sick of people telling me I am gigantic haha. Alot ask if there's 2 hiding in there. I love my big bump but hearing the same thing ten times a day is pretty annoying.. x

Houseonahill · 22/01/2019 13:58

have you not had the baby yet

That used to drive me insane! Yes I have had the baby I'm just carrying them under my jumper now Hmm

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 22/01/2019 13:58

Tell them the have got the ad all set up to go on ebay if it is.

explodingkitten · 24/01/2019 15:43

Aren't you tempted to say: "I'm not pregnant, I'm just fat Grin". It might be fun to see people backtracking.
