Who asks if I'm having twins?

I'm only 28weeks pregnant and have far too long to go to be hearing this comment daily.

I feel massive and tired and grumpy and I'm measuring exactly what i should be!!

People are just eedjits. When I was pregnant with my twins people said “are you sure there’s not THREE in there?!” Fuckers.

The first person to ask me that was my GP. As she felt my bump. I had a few moments of panic, wondering if the shop would let me change my deposit to a double buggy while she satisfied herself.

I’ve had this since I was about 20 weeks.

HOW many weeks are you?
Are you SURE they didn’t miss one?

And as it turns out, I’m having a small baby based on the scans.

The worst part is most comments come from my work colleagues (albeit tongue in cheek).
Who you would think would know better.
Given we’re midwives.

My old boss used to always joke that I could be having twins. Probably an hilarious wind up when he was younger and his kids were born in the 1960s. Not so much when I'd actually seen scans of my baby and categorically knew I was only having one.

I have twins.

I was huge and strangers used to ask me that quite regularly.

They always looked so disappointed when I said “yes” that I assume that people actually ask it as a put down.

I had the opposite. I was always small for dates and in my first pregnancy nobody noticed until I was 34 weeks.

Are you huge though?

Ugh I HATE this. I had it all the time. When they realise it's not twins then it's 'they must have the dates wrong then! Ha ha ha!' There is nothing to say that doesn't result in a 'you can't take a joke' response. I just used to give them a blank stare and file it away in the 'you're a twat' part of my brain

Every time I asked the midwife she measured me and told me i was bang on average. I think the rest of me was just average size so the bump looked big in comparison

Urgh I had this. From one colleague. In the end she caught me on a bad day and I gave her both barrels basically how every time she saw me she told me the same thing and didn't she think it was rude to comment on my size? She avoided me for the rest of my pregnancy. Turned out I was all water, though baby was born at 36+4 and was 6lb 10 so lord knows the size if he had gone full term

i had this with both pregnancies,even more with no 2 as the locals(small welsh village where everyone knows your business)knew i had fertility treatment

i go very big as i have big babes no 1 was 8llb ,27 inches

no 2 was 8llbs,10 26 inches

cant remember no 1 as it was 03 but no 2 in 2010 by 28 weeks i was a size 34(18 to start)and struggled to walk,by full term(8 days over)i hit size 36(midwife reckoned placenta was just as big as him)

you then get comment when they are born if they are bigger/smaller than norm

no2 was a greedy/hungry baby and was pounds more than he should be for his age so you get remarks like wow thats a big new born or hes never soso months he looks much older

he still get it to this day,hes 8 but 5ft and 118 pounds and people think and treat him as much older

Wrong! Just one big fucker. I am measuring big. Not just my bump either. I seem to have inflated like mr blobby and developed a few extra chins

At 12 weeks people started asking me how long I had left?!

What do you mean how long did I have left?

I think people assume I'm due any day now. No such luck. Still got 4 months to go!
