Put loo brushes in the dishwasher on their own, on hot setting, followed by a hot wash on empty??!!!

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 23/01/2019 21:04

soak in zoflora and bathroom smells nice

Leapfrog44 · 23/01/2019 21:04

Are you freaking crazy?? Clean them in the bath in boiling water!

pigsDOfly · 23/01/2019 21:09

Bleaching doesn't get the poo off so you put it in the dishwasher? So what's going to get the poo off the inside of the dishwasher?

Pernickity1 · 23/01/2019 21:12

This post has made my stomach churn...

ivartheboneless · 23/01/2019 21:15

This is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard!
Oh god just no! 🤢🤢🤢🤢

Rinsed under flush and bleach and boiling water in the pot they stand in is good enough for me

Aeroflotgirl · 23/01/2019 21:17

Aghgh flying hot poo in the dishwasher yuck. Yes boiling water, and bleach poured over them outside.

ManOfKent · 23/01/2019 21:20

If I found out anyone did that in my dishwasher I'd break all my crockery, break their face and burn the dishwasher.
Truly disgusting!!!

burritofan · 23/01/2019 21:21

Surely the sensible thing to do is install a separate dishwasher in the bathroom and poo directly into it.

Iused2BanOptimist · 23/01/2019 21:24

Things in DW:

  • Loo brush Garden pots Crocs Metal top mop brush Beach toys*

Is that things in your own dishwasher Tigertooth or things you have heard other people put in their dishwasher?

On one of those cleaning programmes there was a woman who cleaned her stirrups in the dishwasher after a muddy ride. I can't remember what else she put in there.
Also on embarrassing bodies there was a woman who was addicted to coffee enemas. You guessed it. She cleaned the equipment in the dishwasher. I think iirc there was a certain disapproval of her doing that as well as the exhortations to stop hosing gallons of coffee up her bum! Shock

So you can add stirrups and enema hoses to the list. Sad

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 23/01/2019 21:25

Absolutely disgusting!
WTF is wrong with you!?
Yes...clean them...but not in the dishwasher!

Iused2BanOptimist · 23/01/2019 21:32

I have remembered in student days I shared with a friend who had an ageing cat that crapped around the house. One day I caught her scrubbing the carpet with the dishwashing bowl full of dettol. I expressed my horror that she was using the washing up bowl but she countered that it had dettol in it ergo was OK.
I decided it was obviously her preferred method and I hadn't got ill yet so left her to it. But later one of the guys in the house came in and declined to eat an apple until I assured him I'd washed it. So I said "Never mind that. Did you know J. uses the washing up bowl to clean up the cat mess?"
He went green and rushed out and bought a new one. Grin

Dishwashers and washing up bowls are for dishes. That's why their called dishwashers. Wink

hibbledibble · 23/01/2019 21:33

Yes, that is revolting!

My look brush is at least 5 years old. It's still going strong. I think my parents is older than me!

No need to replace. As for cleaning, they are disinfected with loo cleaner whenever they are used. They don't need to be sterile either, then are just for cleaning the bog!

Undercoverbanana · 23/01/2019 21:40

Put it this way, OP,

Would you take a shit directly into your dishwasher?

If not, it is not the place for your loo brushes either.

GlitterStick · 23/01/2019 21:43

I'm a slob Blush Grin but even I wouldn't do that.
Absolutely rank, no no no no no.
YABVVVU and minging

Timmytoo · 23/01/2019 21:48

I put bleach and vinegar in the container that holds the brush, so the brush is constantly soaking in it. After washing the loo, I flush and rinse the brush in the flushing water then leave it in its holder soaking in the bleach and vinegar.

monkeysox · 23/01/2019 22:06

Filthy bastard Confused

MinecraftHolmes · 23/01/2019 22:06

You should never mix bleach and vinegar. It produces chlorine gas and you could inadvertently gas yourself/your family.

Betsy86 · 23/01/2019 22:07

iusedtobanoptimist omg you’ve just reminded me of a friend who does her partners feet in the washing up bowl.
Scraping off dead skin etc honestly its vile I thought must be a different bowl they used but nope.
Quick swish round after and back to washing the dishes. I’ve never accepted any food or drink etc from there since....x p.s i didn’t stay to view the foot pamper i got there near the end and was just Shock

hibbledibble · 23/01/2019 22:15

Yes, public safety announcement.

Never mix bleach with other chemicals

stinkypoo · 23/01/2019 22:21

It's only about 50p for a new loo brunch, surely cheaper (and way less disgusting) than 2 hot loads of the dishwasher which would prob melt the bristles anyway.

ShodAndShadySenators · 23/01/2019 22:22

@MistressoftheYoniverse
thenightsky I use the wipes that I use to wipe my bum with bleach/spray so they are flushable. I only use a few so I have not had problems

Check here
YOU might not have problems, but further down the sewers there certainly are problems. There are no wipes available that don't contribute to fat bergs and associated blockages in the drains. PLEASE don't flush wipes any more, the only things to be flushed down lavatories are pee, poo and toilet paper. (And puke I guess)

(And I have a lovely Brabantia loo brush which only gets used for scrubbing the inside of the pan with cleaners to get the limescale off, so it doesn't get caked in poo and loo roll at all. It was not 50p in a budget shop, I want it to last well and not get all manky.)

Would it be absolutely disgusting to...
Cynderella · 23/01/2019 22:34

Like OP, I am trying to reduce the amount of plastic items I buy and bin. Like some other posters, I don't like using bleach. And like some other posters, I don't like loo brushes.

So I use a cloth with hot soapy water. Sometimes I use vinegar/washing up liquid spray. Sometimes I use citric acid for limescale. No bleach.

I put the cloth in the washing machine with other cleaning cloths on a boil wash.

We're all still alive.

Thesuzle · 23/01/2019 22:36

ladies. Bleach does not work so well in hot water, crazy I know, but true

Knackeredmommy · 23/01/2019 22:46

This has turnd my stomach. Even if the heat kills the germs, poo particles will be swilling around Envy. I can't stand toilet brushes, I just imagine germs festering. I use Bleach and toilet duck disposable wipes that dissolve like loo roll.

aariah08 · 23/01/2019 22:54

Yes, yes it would 🤮
