To like these baby names???

A light-hearted thread, these are the names people have called me crazy for liking but they're my guilty pleasure names!
Am I alone in all of them? Or does anyone else like any of these?
FWIW, I wouldn't be brave enough to use any, but I do love them! Blush

Boys: Basil, Clay, Humphrey, Pluto, Rubeus, Rusty, Tokyo

Girls: Asia, Bambi, Grey, Jonah, Kobie, Panda, Texas, Tig

Are they all as crazy as people make out? 😂
Also FWIW, my baby name list includes completely mainstream and traditional names too, these are the most 'out there' of a big bunch, I'm just interested to see if there's any other odd one out person who likes any from my out out there list!

They are all shockers.

recklessruby · 20/01/2019 19:51

I like Clay for a boy and Asia for a girl. Not the others though

daisypond · 20/01/2019 19:56

I really like Basil. It's an extremely traditional and classic name in some countries - Greece and Russia, for example- but is fine in the UK as well. There's a Basil in Henry James's The Bostonians, which has always left an impression on me. Humphrey is OK-ish.

KurriKurri · 20/01/2019 20:10

I thought Jonah was boy's name -it's the only one I don't mind, but for a boy.

Jiggins · 20/01/2019 20:11

Bambi was a boy wasn't he?

Brandnewshit · 20/01/2019 20:14

The thing is, that lots of people don't consider when naming kid's is that it's not a doll.
It grows up and has to face life as an adult with the name given.

PippaParty · 20/01/2019 20:15

I know a teenage girl named Kobie, quite acceptable in use and suits her

2019Reasons · 20/01/2019 20:18

Bonkers.

Bambi is beyond awful.

Divgirl2 · 20/01/2019 20:20

You want to call a future adult human Panda?!

Houseonahill · 20/01/2019 20:21

I like all the boys names except rusty and Tokyo (rusty sounds like a hillbilly serial killer)

I know more than one person called Asia so that doesn't seem weird all the others are stupid, particularly panda. My name had a dog named tig.

Jiggins · 20/01/2019 20:22

Panda is the kind of nickname a posh girl who's actually called Arabella (or something equally sloaney) is given.

Coba · 20/01/2019 20:22

I like most of them! Especially Texas, Kobie, RUSTY, and Pluto!

Hohofortherobbers · 20/01/2019 20:25

The only acceptable ones are basil and humphrey. I don't mind humphrey actually, although not on my list I wouldn't raise my eyebrows if I heard it being called out

LordVoldetort · 20/01/2019 20:26

They are pretty bad. Can you imagine being called into the drs office by a Dr Bambi Smith or a Dr Rusty Jones?
You need names that can be used when they are older.
I would liken it to having a baby named Gary (which actually happened as there are a lot of adult gary’s)

Chickychoccyegg · 20/01/2019 20:26

nearly all of them are absolutely ridiculous

Heyha · 20/01/2019 20:27

Several of your list are names of horses I've known in real life... If I had to pick I'd go Asia and Basil

DanielRicciardosSmile · 20/01/2019 20:28

I don't like any of them, sorry.

Heyha · 20/01/2019 20:28

Plus Jonah is a boy's name isn't it?

Fightingfit2019 · 20/01/2019 20:29

Clay and Kobie at a push are the best of a bad list! Asia isn’t too bad either. But the rest are a big no.

MollyHuaCha · 20/01/2019 20:29

They are great names for a tank of pet fish.

IsItThatTimeAgain · 20/01/2019 20:33

Well as long as you don't mind your daughter getting stripper name jokes growing up before she starts working the pole professionally...then sure, why not? Confused

The boys names are just as bad just in a different way.

0lgaDaPolga · 20/01/2019 20:34

The only name on this list I like is Jonah but not for a girl

IsItThatTimeAgain · 20/01/2019 20:34

"MollyHuaCha

They are great names for a tank of pet fish."

🤣🤣🤣

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 20/01/2019 20:35

Panda...Shock
Ha!!! Grin

Celebelly · 20/01/2019 20:36

My test is to put 'Prime Minister' in front of the name, or 'leading human rights lawyer'. If it sounds ridiculous...
