To ask where you do your food shopping?

I really want to start feeling like I'm getting the most out of my money whenever I go shopping.

Where do you do your shopping? Do you do it at one place or do you go to different places for different things?

From my own experience I feel like Tesco is quite expensive compared to other supermarkets and I always come out feeling like I've hardly gotten anything.

I do go to Aldi (which I love btw) but feel like I can't get everything from there sometimes..

I get everything we need from Aldi

Thurmanmurman · 20/01/2019 18:51

Aldi for the main shop and then Sainsburys (next door) for any specific bits they don't sell. Cleaning products and toiletries from B&M (Aldi shampoo/conditioner is crap).

Puffinhead · 20/01/2019 18:54

I use Asda mostly with occasional top-ups at Aldi. I was in Tesco last week and was surprised at how expensive it was in comparison- 20p here and there soon adds up.

Unescorted · 20/01/2019 18:56

Aldi mainly, Fish market in City where I work, vege box from the store in the next village & bread from the bakery in the next town (both have mobile vans that deliver on Saturday to our village), butchers changes - Morrisons or local depending on time I get home from work. Spices, Asian groceries & Middle Eastern things from the International store (only once every 5-6 months) and far eastern bits from China town in the city I work in.

That looks a lot of faffing - but it isn't because I am passing anyway in most cases.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 20/01/2019 19:01

Aldi for the big weekly shop and then top ups at Waitrose as I work there on a Saturday morning.

Also very so often will go to Asda or Waitrose and do a big top up shop of branded items and items we can’t get at Aldi. Tinned lentils and pulses in particular as I’m vegetarian.

Also browse and shop in Costco, B&M and home bargains as they are close to one of the dc activities that they do 2-3 nights a week.

anotherdaygoesby · 20/01/2019 19:02

Lidl and M&S mostly. Bit of Ocado sometimes.

usernamerisnotavailable · 20/01/2019 19:03

Local farm shop and butcher for as much as I can. Rest from Ocado. Try to shop as responsibly as possible. Can't believe how many times people on here go to the shop!!

UnreasonablyPissedOff · 20/01/2019 19:03

What kinds of things can people not get in Aldi?
Ours has everything we need and we cook from scratch pretty much every night.

JaceLancs · 20/01/2019 19:04

Aldi and Lidl for basics
Morrison’s for groceries
Tesco for other fruit and veg
Booths for meat and luxuries

Itstimetoscream · 20/01/2019 19:05

ASDA, top ups from Sainsbury's and Lidl.

Huntawaymama · 20/01/2019 19:07

Tesco and local butchers and greengrocer

I tried aldi, saved maybe £20 but loads of the stuff was minging. Crisps and yoghurt being the worst. Only go there for baby wipes now

Gotstuckwiththisname · 20/01/2019 19:09

To answer Unreasonably - a specific brand of non dairy milk (my own fussiness!), 6 pinters of whole milk (my Aldi doesn't seem to sell them) and some ASDA own brand stuff that I prefer to anything else.

BitchQueen90 · 20/01/2019 19:09

There are 3 superstores local to me (Asda, Tesco and Aldi) and I do all mine at Asda. I'm not a fan of Aldi and Tesco is too expensive. I can't be bothered to faff around going to loads of different shops.

Spidey66 · 20/01/2019 19:10

I want to hear more about pooping in the Coop. Lol. @huntleybyelection

itsgood2talk · 20/01/2019 19:10

Sainsbury's

tinytreefrog · 20/01/2019 19:10

Lidl, then Asda for any extra bits or bread/milk top ups , just because it's the closest.

Titsywoo · 20/01/2019 19:15

A mixture of Aldi, Sainsburys, Morrisons and M&S! Mainly the first two but I pick up a couple of bits that DH and the DC like in the other two. Every month or so I go to Costco and Wing Yip to bulk buy some other stuff we like (DH drinks a lot of coke and its much cheaper at costco).

snop · 20/01/2019 19:50

Aldi and Tesco for the stuff Aldi don't do

agedknees · 20/01/2019 19:53

Local butchers for meat.

Booths for owt else.

Yearinyearout · 20/01/2019 19:53

I use Tesco for convenience, tbh I feel that if you’re not brand loyal, it can be as cheap as anywhere. I buy all their own branded veg/bread/tinned tomatoes etc, and with lots of other things I’ll swap to whatever is on offer. We have a Lidl and Aldi but I can never get everything I want from there.

HildaZelda · 20/01/2019 19:55

I do about 95% of mine in Aldi and pick up the remaining few bits in Tesco, purely because it's about 5 minutes away.

HildaZelda · 20/01/2019 19:56

Oh and I buy most of my cleaning stuff in Poundland.

PassTheGinPlease · 20/01/2019 19:56

Aldi.
I gave up on Morrison's as twice I bought food for the kids and twice the filling in their own brand kievs wasn't what it was supposed to be. Not a big deal for most but DS has serious allergies.
Asda I go to on Mondays for the reduced meat- I got a huge joint of beef last Monday reduced from £15 to £9, I've cut it into 3 good sized joints.

Oysterbabe · 20/01/2019 19:58

Aldi just because it's at the end of my road. They're about to open a Lidl next door to it so I might mix things up.

Mummyshark2018 · 20/01/2019 19:59

Another one for Aldi with a top up at the local co-op during the week (at least twice) , mostly for milk/ fruit/spices and fresh bread.
