Bras are one of the things where I believe you truly get what you pay for

AnyFucker · 20/01/2019 19:08

So, yes

AnyFucker · 20/01/2019 19:08

I mean, no

Oh, you get the gist Smile

YANBU. But having been fitted at Bravissimo, do have a look on Amazon and figleaves for the same bra (brand, type, size) in last year’s colours. There are often bargains to be found. Relative bargains, anyway, as a 28G I don’t think I’ve ever paid less than £20...

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 20/01/2019 20:13

Oh yes forgot about the Bravissimo loyalty scheme - a free bra every 10. One of those times when it is actually worth handing over your email address!

Borelis · 20/01/2019 22:31

@RedCabbageStains
I was told at bravissimo that their sizing recommendation after a fitting may not be apply to other stores and even in bravissomo's own stuff, they say each style/type has slightly different sizing so how can I be sure my bravissimo recommendation of 30FF will apply to amazon and fig leaves sizing?

Thanks

I usually only wear one style and its from bravissimo, so any that weren't bought second hand/on sale were around £30. They have lasted years, although I've gotten in the bad habit of tumble drying everything which has caused them to deteriorate faster.

Just had to buy my first lot of maternity bras and it came to £58 for two, luckily I was exchanging some my mum had bought me not knowing I was pregnant so I only had to put £6.50 towards it.

Freshprincess · 21/01/2019 07:32

@Borelis I look for the exact bra I know fits, so look for Bravissimo XYZ bra rather than just any old Bravissimo one. I can be different sizes depending on the style. I aim to have a black, white a nude version on the go.
And I finally realised recently that no matter how many times I try, I can’t wear a plunge bra without falling out of it.

jessstan2 · 21/01/2019 07:33

£30 per bra is a reasonable price unless you get some in sales.

31133004Taff · 21/01/2019 07:45

@Ollivander84 - we are the same size. Can you share the style that fits you?

mamamamaheyhey · 21/01/2019 07:46

I usually do. Try lieia lingerie they are good.

Footle · 21/01/2019 08:15

Bravissimo website is offputting for an old/er woman. I'd still like a decent bra though.

GalacticChickenShit · 21/01/2019 08:17

If it fits, that seems about standard.

Unless you are like a 32c, in which case buy all the cheap bras and bask in the glory.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 21/01/2019 08:34

I’m just about to retire a bra I bought at Rigby and Peller seven years ago. City’s mate went last year. Cost per wear has been well worth it.

I buy new in the sale now from them. They’re still about £40, but worth it.

LivLemler · 21/01/2019 09:08

OP, I've only discovered bravissimo in the last year, but find their prices to be totally worth it. Especially for well fitting basics that go with everything.

@Gth1234 I don't really think this is a thread that's looking for a male viewpoint. I also think you should reflect on why you state you would be happy for your wife to spend specifically on attractive bras. What about comfortable, functional ones? For most women, especially those of us who wear bigger sizes, the look of a bra is far down the list of priorities. We're more concerned with comfort, support and how they look under clothes. And my husband's opinion is absolutely nowhere on the list!

RedCabbageStains · 21/01/2019 10:39

@Borelis I just mean that if I’m wearing a Panache Tango in a 28G, then I will buy a couple more Panache Tangos in a 28G from other (cheaper) places, knowing they will fit the same (with the partial exception of black bras, which seem to always fit a bit smaller, something to do with the dye).
