I'm fascinated with true crime and was having a conversation with my Grandad once. He told me that one of his brothers mates was friends with peter sutcliffe, and that he had met him a couple of times.

Interested to know if others have have had encounters or known a serial killer

Awful.was ent it @Tetrapanex ?It was in the local newspaper a couple of weeks ago as it was 25 years agoSad I'm a few years older than you but I also used to bus station going to school etc.

neversleepagain · 20/01/2019 13:32

Dh went to school with Heather West. He grew up across the park from their home. He remembers, quite vividly, going into the West home on a few occasions to buy sweets. Apparently they sold sweets in their home to local school children which is frightengly creepy.

madcatladyforever · 20/01/2019 13:35

Yes I worked in a prison for several years, Obviously I can't say anything as I signed the official secrets act however I can say that very often the worst of them are very charming and appear perfectly normal.

Alwaysaware · 20/01/2019 13:40

I live in my family home so my parents lived here before me. They’ve both passed away now but never forgot the lovely family next door. In the sixties the woman threw the husband out for infidelity and he left to go back to his hometown. One evening though when the mother and the three children were out he came back and hid inside the house. The mother, her mother and the 3 children all returned and he killed them all with a hammer before hanging himself.
My parents never quite got over it, they had been neighbours for years. So sad.

localfluff · 20/01/2019 13:41

I knew a GP who had taken to offing patients. They never managed to secure a conviction though even though the case was reviewed. He was a right old scruffbag and used to come in with dogs on bits of rope.

gateto · 20/01/2019 13:44

To PP who said they knew Robert Thompson - are you definitely sure because he has been living with a male partner for a long time!

twoundertwox · 20/01/2019 13:47

DH nan worked in same office as Peter Sutcliffe's dad.

Rachie1973 · 20/01/2019 13:49

My ExDH’s grandad and his twin were runners for the Kray Brothers.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 20/01/2019 13:50

I worked with someone who left his wife for a younger woman, then they both got hooked on drugs and he ended up stabbing and killing her.
I'd always got on well with him - still find it hard to believe (although there's absolutely no doubt that he did it).

Schmoobarb · 20/01/2019 13:53

my granda worked with peter manuel

Now there was one vicious evil fuck.

halfwitpicker · 20/01/2019 13:53

Shock at some of these

raspberrycordial · 20/01/2019 14:10

Not yet I don't but I can 100% guarantee that a little boy I know (due to both his family situation and behaviour he has consistently shown for the past 3 years) will go to prison for either killing/repeatedly sexually assaulting/gbh. I've never met a child like him and have reported him to social services (as a concern about his home life) who don't seem concerned.

IhateBoswell · 20/01/2019 14:14

I still feel sick every time I go to Bury x2boys, I always hated using the bus station when I was younger.
So glad they caught the bastard.

thebear1 · 20/01/2019 14:14

I can't think of a single connection to a murderer, although my mum suspected her bil of being the Yorkshire ripper. He wasn't.

Seniorcitizen1 · 20/01/2019 14:16

One of my cousins was a serial rapist who eventually murdered a victim and got 30 years - he should be out by now.

He started as a flasher and in spite of family saying he needed help his parents blamed it on exam stress. When he was eventually caught after the murder he is reported to have said “thank god - now I can get treatment”.

I used to play with him lots when we were children as was my favourite cousin - and then he just disappeared from the family. Had he got treatment when a teenager may be the other women would have been spared their ordeal. But his choices his responsibility.

x2boys · 20/01/2019 14:20

Indeed Boswell scary thing he was actually a bus driver at some point but not at the time of the murder i.don't think.

NerrSnerr · 20/01/2019 14:21

My driving examiner murdered his wife a couple of months after my driving test. He drove their car off the M1. Reading the reports after conviction he was awful.

ilovepixie · 20/01/2019 14:26

My friends dentist was Colin Howell. He was having an affair and him and his girlfriend killed his wife and her husband. He also sexually abused patients when they were asleep.

Moonflower12 · 20/01/2019 14:33

@Oldbutstillgotit
Is that town in Leicestershire?
If so my DD went to school with one of the daughters.

My DD went to school with Fred West's granddaughter. In fact she was best friends with her.

And also went to school with a girl who's father murdered her mother and tried to kill all the children.

My dad knew the Kray twins and was gifted two pet rats from them, he called them 'Ronnie and Reggie'. Which I think is quite nice Grin I don't regard them as 'scary' characters.

I grew up opposite the house/flat where a woman's head was cut off. The head has never been found (EastEnd of London area).

Namechangeforthis4321 · 20/01/2019 14:40

Name changed

A close, female 17 year old relative of mine was involved in a high profile murder/suicide case a few year ago now in which she, her boyfriend and a police officer were shot dead

notsodimwit · 20/01/2019 14:42

My mam went to school with 2 little sunderland girls (Sandra McCormick and Gail Gangly ) ( I think that's how you spell there names )who were both murdered together and it still affects her today at the senseless murder of 2 of her school friends

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 20/01/2019 14:45

I worked in a pub as a 20 yr old and Jeremy Bamber used to frequent it. He was known to be arrogant but I was shocked when he was charged with the murders of his family. Sadly I think he is almost certainly guilty. I’ve read widely about the case since and the evidence against him is pretty tight.

phoenix1404 · 20/01/2019 14:50

I knew the father and siblings of baby P, who was killed by his mother and stepfather. Never met the killers.
