Remember years ago one of the radio 1 DJs had an “Our Song” segment? Usually a tale of woe, told over the sad theme song and then followed, most of the time it seemed, by a very upbeat song. I used to love it.

GummyMummyLydia · 19/01/2019 16:49

Ed Sheeran - Perfect

Rememory · 19/01/2019 16:51

Songs for us

Do I love you - Frank Wilson
Let's Stay together - Al Green

I have lots that make me think of DH and lots that make me think of the kids too.

Sitranced · 19/01/2019 16:54

Rez/Cowgirl by Underworld or Little Fluffy Clouds by The Orb

WillyNilly00 · 19/01/2019 16:55

I absolutely love this thread.
Ours is Shania Twain- You're still the one.

Its abit random because we're both young but we were both subjected to Shania as kids and it's just so us.

Slippershoes · 19/01/2019 16:57

Every thug needs a lady by Alkaline Trio and Swing life away by Rise Against.
My extra one would be the Proclaimers I met you. We can never decide he's picky and I'm soppy.

BrylcreamBeret · 19/01/2019 16:58

I have a pisstake dance to 'Hungry Eyes' that I do with my husband, complete with silly voices ofc. Don't go out of our way to play it but when it comes on the radio or whatever we both assume the position Grin

Somerville · 19/01/2019 16:58

I didn’t know we had a song until we were planning our wedding and DH played me Swept Away by the Avett Brothers and said he’d played on repeat when we first got together because it summed us up. I took the piss out of him for secretly being a teenage girl then let him incorporate it into wedding.

SaucyJack · 19/01/2019 16:59

Love Is Easy - McFly.

Naff but appropriate.

Presh12345 · 19/01/2019 17:02

3 songs: a thousand years by Christina Perry, Better by Tom Baxter and Pictures of You by The Cure.

trevthecat · 19/01/2019 17:02

Not our song as such but 'hello' he always says hello is it stu your looking for. His last name is Stewart! Wow cringe!!

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 19/01/2019 17:04

We don't have one, which has only now become obvious now we're engaged and trying to decide on what to have as our first dance.

gentlyscented · 19/01/2019 17:04

Some great songs here guys. I'd forgotten half of them, so off to put them on my play list 😄

Coldplay- yellow
Steelers wheel- stuck in the middle with you (our first dance song😂😂)

BarryTheKestrel · 19/01/2019 17:08

Boy by Reuben and Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons.

hellypad · 19/01/2019 17:11

You and Me by The Wannadies

Autumnchill · 19/01/2019 17:14

Snow Patrol 'Chasing Cars'

Autumnchill · 19/01/2019 17:17

However both in a club last week and 'We don't have to take our clothes off' came on and at the same time went 'oh, our song!' . It was playing when he first told me he was in love with me and kissed me for the first time 😊

AnnabelleLecter · 19/01/2019 17:18

It must be love- Madness

Imustbemad00 · 19/01/2019 17:25

The people that have a song, is it ‘your song’ or ‘our song?’ I’m wondering how much input male partners have in the deciding of the song.

How does it become ‘our song’ is it a mutual agreement? Do you hear it and both say ‘this can be our song’ or is it years down the line and you mutually agree on a song that reminds you of old times when you randomly hear it? Is it even a conscious decision, if not you must have to have a conversation about to come to a mutual agreement on the song.

Strikes me as very much a female concept.

I have songs that remind me of relationships or particular times or events, but never expressed it to my partner outloud at the time. Can’t imagine them having a song that has those memories for them, and if there was it’s highly unlikely it would be the same song as mine.

Sorry it’s just a strange concept to me.

Ray La Montaigne - you're the best thing

toomanygreys · 19/01/2019 17:31

Gravity by embrace

tiggerkid · 19/01/2019 17:31

When did it become mandatory?

The OP hardly said it was mandatory!

HearMeSnore · 19/01/2019 17:34

"When you say nothing at all" by Boyzone. Not because either of us particularly likes it, but it amuses DH to sing over it "I like you best, when you say nothing at all..."

And then I playfully punch him and he giggles and we have a "moment" so it's kind of become our song whether we like it or not.

RagingWhoreBag · 19/01/2019 17:34

Imustbemad00 DP and I will send each other links to songs that touch us, or when it comes on the radio we’ll look all soppy and go “aw it’s our song” or “this song always reminds me of you” etc.
