rant about bras

Have done the interventions. Wearing the right size, right style, right everything but still have such a mixed experience. One day my bra can fit like a glove and I am delighted with the world. The next day I am wearing an instrument of torture and my mood plummets. I have to wear the buggers - working in customer service and 34K :(

Am I on my own to have such a mixed experience of this garment / instrument of torture?

You're not on your own! I've swapped to bralettes, I find them much more comfortable, you can't tell under my office clothes Smile

madeyemoodysmum · 18/01/2019 16:54

Agree. I’ve gone down a back size and happier since but I do get days where I hate my bra. I’m also a big boobed girl. 34f fits me best.

Ultramic · 18/01/2019 16:56

I've said it on many a'post - m&s Fuller bust Bralettes. Amazing.

Fightingfit2019 · 18/01/2019 17:07

34H I feel your pain.....

wildone03 · 18/01/2019 17:12

i feel your pain - 32G and i find every bra i have uncomfortable. The best part of my day is getting home and taking it off.

Gardai · 18/01/2019 17:13

Totally agree
One day I think I’ve found “the one”, next it’s total shite.
I spend a small fortune too.

slashlover · 18/01/2019 17:24

Also 34K, it may be because my boobs fluctuate over the month.

I've said it on many a'post - m&s Fuller bust Bralettes. Amazing.

There's nothing on the website about cup size and most DD plus sizes only go up to a G or very occasionally H.

Sexnotgender · 18/01/2019 17:28

Have you been properly measured? Boob or bust shows you how to accurately measure yourself.

I’ve been wearing more cropped top type bras since I’ve been pregnant and they’re so comfortable and meant I haven’t had to buy 85 different sizes as I’ve gone through pregnancy!

I’m not overly blessed in the chest department though so not sure how supportive they are for the larger of breast.

Bras I would say have seriously marred my life. When I wake in the morning I have a dred of having to put one on, yet, because of my circumstances- customer service job and 34k - feel I have no choice. I’m done with trying to find a make that gives consistent comfort. I feel I have to learn to live with the discomfort thinking it’s really a first world problem - an ill fitting bra.

I have done Rigby and Peller, Bravissimo, bespoke, adapting standard to fit, but just cannot achieve a consistent stress free fit. It’s difficult to write but the stress of feeling so uncomfortable makes me ill. I get horrible stress headaches, and my mood is so affected. This has a knock effect on the people closest to me. I also think it’s affected my work because I am constantly aware of the discomfort.

I am a 38HH so I bet i would have saggy boobs unless these bralet things are underwired?

Do people who wear these bralets have small boobs? Anything not underwired with big boobs just doesn't work in my opinion. Unless you like them saggy!

My advice OP find THE bra then buy 200 of them.

WutheringBites · 18/01/2019 20:16

There are some things that just are the physical representation of the damage of patriarchy. These include the lack of funding to sort out pain during childbirth and the rubbishness of bras.

Oh and the lack of gorgeous nightwear for women with big boobs. These things make me 😡

Piewife · 18/01/2019 20:21

Have you tried Molke bras? They give amazing support and are wire free so very comfy. I'm a similar size to you OP and definitely feel supported enough for everyday wear.

Bombardier25966 · 18/01/2019 20:21

The M&S bralette is fine for bigger boobs if you don't mind a monoboob/ shelf look, but it's not a good look for public. I'm a 32FF and tried a 10 and a 12, the 10 was best (12 too big in the back) but I can't see either comfortably accommodating much bigger.

I always end up back in Panache Tango, and have it in an F and a FF for different days.

SleepingBooty · 18/01/2019 20:28

I'm a G cup and moved over to crop top style soft bras as I've had it with stupid fasteners, tight straps and irritating wires. I have primark light support sports bras that are so comfy.

MyNameIsJane · 18/01/2019 20:29

Is it the underwire that is the problem? I am large of boob and I have found Elila bras (expensive but) supportive & comfortable.

31133004Taff · 18/01/2019 20:37

Ordering from Molke now. I buy M&S soft cup and adapt it to fit. They must be OK reasoning by the amount of good reviews the bra has but I think they lose their stretch quickly, although this doesn’t come up in the reviews.

I’m a 30g and wear M&S fuller cup bralettes in size 10 and 12 (both fine, 12 a bit better) - I don’t find them too shelf/monoboob-ish and wear them to work with smart office wear. Nobody has said “bloody hell Verbena, your tits look awful” so I’m calling them a win!

31133004Taff · 18/01/2019 20:44

Had a look at Eilia bras. They look too shallow under the arm, I tend to spill out and I believe the cup size is right so not pushing breast tissue under my arms.

I can’t wear underwire.

Please share if you are a small back but large cup and you find bras comfortable to give me hope.

I think the Molke bra looks like a bralette for big cups.

31133004Taff · 18/01/2019 20:47

Even when my bra is comfortable now I am so resentful because the comfort is not consistent.

soulrider · 18/01/2019 20:47

I'm normally a 30f but the m&s ones don't have enough material to contain my boobs without getting a huge band size.

Ultramic · 18/01/2019 20:48

My boobs look great in the Bralettes, I wear a 12 in the Fuller bust as a 32E/F. They're a revelation. No side boob, no digging in, smooth back, fully supported.

Def non shelfy!

Now as soon as I set them free...that's when they turn ugly. Confused droopy saggy sacks of shame.

KatyNana · 18/01/2019 20:51

I was that size when breastfeeding and am usually a J cup. I recommend the Elomi smoothing nursing bra. Even if you don't need one that unclips for feeding. The underwires are softer than a normal bra so it's more comfortable, but they are proper supportive underwires and it's just as good as a normal bra.

HoustonBess · 18/01/2019 20:53

How come we can send rockets into space but we can't make a bloody bra that isn't painful?
Horrible as underwires are, I can't bear anything without them as my cleavage becomes a bog. Finding maternity bras in HH cups is horrrrrrrrrendous.
