Can somebody tell me if this sounds true?

I'm googling and finding nothing.

A drug rehab in Notts, kept in for a year with no access to phones or internet, no contact with friends or family.

I just want to know if I'm being lied to?

It does sound extremely harsh... Confused

JaiNotJay · 16/01/2019 08:27

Doesn't sound true. I have no experience of drug rehab but surely there would be some contact allowed? It might be limited to certain times but there wouldn't be none for a whole year. Hmm
If you think you're being lied to, you probably are.

Saltycinnamon · 16/01/2019 08:29

Prison?

SheAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 16/01/2019 08:29

Yeah they've been in prison I think

Saltycinnamon · 16/01/2019 08:30

I don't mean prison is rehab obviously, I mean it's somewhere you might disappear to for a year?

TheMythicalChicken · 16/01/2019 08:30

Nit necessarily. Phoenix House used to be 12 months with limited or no contact with the outside world.

What is the name of the facility?

EmeraldShamrock · 16/01/2019 08:30

I doubt it, even prisoners have a right to visits and phone call.
If it was a shorter period in rehab it could be true but I doubt a year of no contact.
I think it is a lie?

potatoscone · 16/01/2019 08:31

Contact is usually choice. So they either chose to have none or they were in prison.

needanappp · 16/01/2019 08:31

Doesn't sound true unless, as others have said, it was prison. Rehabs are not allowed to detain you, you are free to leave whenever you like. Obviously it's discouraged but they can't detain a person.

yodelsay · 16/01/2019 08:31

Usually 12 weeks no visits etc in rehab

GertrudeWilloughby · 16/01/2019 08:32

Wise words. We should listen to our inner voice more often.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 16/01/2019 08:32

No phones and internet sounds standard. At the rehab I've had involvement in (professionally), the residents weren't allowed mobile phones (but had access to a payphone in reception), internet, radio or TV (only allowed TV on Christmas day) but absolutely allowed visitors, usually once a month on a Sunday.

SavageBeauty73 · 16/01/2019 08:34

My ex husband went to rehab for 6 months and there was no contact for the first month.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/01/2019 08:34

There's nowhere like that.

Even in prison/rehab you have phone calls.

The only scenario I can see where it would apply is being sectioned (but it would be specific people they weren't allowed to contact)

Helpplease282 · 16/01/2019 08:34

I don't know the name of the facility, the message I've received says they've already gone. They sent it then turned phone off and said they are gone for a year. I'm googling and finding nothing that sounds remotely what they have described in message

Nope, not true to my experience. residential rehab won't last a year unless you are very wealthy. Total lock down on external contact with family would be inhumane.

Even prison doesn't exclude 100% phone contact as they have payphones they can use. They have always had this, and letters too.

MoreCheeseDear · 16/01/2019 08:37

Sounds like they want to ghost you or are heading for prison.

SuchAToDo · 16/01/2019 08:39

Op that doesn't sound right...isn't rehab usually 90 days?...and they can't "keep you in"...rehab is not a jail...

Even on the Jeremy Kyle show where the show pays to send people to the rehab clinics up and down the country, people are free to leave if they want to and call their loved ones (because before they get in the car he always says something like he better not hear they have left without completing the full programme..and he says to the family and friends that no matter what sob stories the person spins don't collect them from rehab..

If you truly want to know for sure just google drug rehabilitation in north

Then write a list of all of them and their phone numbers

Call all of them as though you were enquiring for a friend/loved one...and ask what the shortest/longest programme they offer is...then ask can the person leave at any time if they want to, and can they have contact with their family and friends etc...

Then write each companies answers besides the names in the page...and you will have your answer of whether he is lying or not..

Then confront the person (if it's a partner ) with your evidence, you can say that you have spoken to each rehab in north..

Don't sit and wonder about it and be lied to, find out for sure, that's what I would.do

GrandmaSharksDentures · 16/01/2019 08:40

Would certainly be unusual - one of the points of rehab is to enable the person to be able to engage in everyday life. No contact with loved ones not even a phone call would certainly not help this element of rehab (unless the loved ones were supplying etc)

TinselTimes · 16/01/2019 08:40

I really don’t think that’s true, sorry.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 16/01/2019 08:40

Sounds like you've been ghosted or they've gone to prison.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 16/01/2019 08:41

12 months with no contact at all, aren't most rehabs a month max? Plus surely as part of drug rehabilitation support from those who will be in your life after coming off the drugs would be critical, living in a bubble for a year is just stupid.

I would say they are ghosting you. This is not a person you need in your life. They are lying to you don't waste any more time on this person.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 16/01/2019 08:45

That isn’t true

Even on the majority of sections that wouldn’t be true either.

What are the circs OP?

Helpplease282 · 16/01/2019 08:45

Thank you all I thought as much
