Can somebody tell me if this sounds true?

I'm googling and finding nothing.

A drug rehab in Notts, kept in for a year with no access to phones or internet, no contact with friends or family.

I just want to know if I'm being lied to?

Re reading message it states 12 months minimum probably longer so definitely not being told the truth, you'd know how long you agreed to with something like rehab?

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 16/01/2019 08:47

Who is this person to you? A friend? Relative? Partner?

Helpplease282 · 16/01/2019 08:51

Does anybody know if there's a way you can check if somebody is going into prison?

OP posts:
Helpplease282 · 16/01/2019 08:51

Sorry to dodge personal questions bit scared to say much more on here

WTAFIGO · 16/01/2019 08:51

"Call all of them as though you were enquiring for a friend/loved one...and ask what the shortest/longest programme they offer is...then ask can the person leave at any time if they want to, and can they have contact with their family and friends etc...”

Don’t make false enquires and waste a receptionist’s time that could be better used helping someone who needs it. If you must ring simply ask them outright if they do this.

I too suspect prison, sorry OP.

Helpplease282 · 16/01/2019 08:52

@SuchAToDo Thanks I will do that but it's sounding unlikely

OP posts:
pasturesgreen · 16/01/2019 08:53

Yes, it does sound very likely that you're being lied to, I'm afraid.

Sparklesocks · 16/01/2019 08:53

Yes sounds like prison to me too, rehab facilities are very underfunded and I don’t know any that would pay for a full year (unless it’s private and the person is quite wealthy?)

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 16/01/2019 08:53

Honesty OP stop wasting time on this person. Whether they are going to jail, making up bullshit or going no contact with you doesn't matter. This person is not someone you need in your life spend your time on those who value you and not on this idiot who thinks your so foolish that you will believe their lies. You are better than that, why give them any more headspace?

Pachyderm1 · 16/01/2019 08:54

Definitely sounds like someone wanting to disguise the fact that they’re going to prison.

InternetRandomer · 16/01/2019 08:54

What comes up if you Google the persons name? If they’re going to prison there may be something reported or court details etc.

Helpplease282 · 16/01/2019 08:55

@InternetRandomer Very common name can't find anything online

OP posts:
Graphista · 16/01/2019 08:59

"I doubt it, even prisoners have a right to visits and phone call." Yes but the point being the person claiming they're in rehab while actually being in prison can't conceal being in prison if they're visited or even call the person being deceived from prison (background noise, announcements & even the number would give it away plus the person couldn't phone them)

Sounds like ghosting bullshit

To be honest I wouldn't want to be involved with someone who needed rehab anyway!

Wheresthebeach · 16/01/2019 09:00

HeadsDown is right. Time to cut your loses and move on. Don't be available in a year if this person shows up on your door. You're being lied to, or ghosted, or a combination of the two.

MotorcycleMayhem · 16/01/2019 09:06

You won't know if someone is going to prison unless it's reported in the press.

If they are someone close to you, you'll have to ask family and friends.

Worst case scenario, you raise a missing person report with the police if you really can't find them yourself, and are worried about them.

In reality, this person is feeding you bullshit for a reason. What's your relationship to them?

ReanimatedSGB · 16/01/2019 09:07

Let the person go - but be prepared for the person to turn up with a bullshit sob story at some point and want money/attention/sex.

ReanimatedSGB · 16/01/2019 09:09

BTW, if this is your child then I have a lot of sympathy for you; it must be awful to be in such a situation. If it's some bloke you've been shagging, consider it good riddance - what do you want a lying junkie for in the first place?

Helpplease282 · 16/01/2019 09:10

I'm suspecting prison it wouldn't make any sense for them to come up with such an elaborate lie to ghost me when we haven't spoken for a long time and they were the one who sent the message after a long time NC. I'm heavily pregnant (with my DH who isn't in prison/rehab) and just don't need to be lied to or have to lie to others regarding their whereabouts so just wanted some clarity. I just really would like them to get clean as would a lot of others so disappointed if it's not true. Thank you all if anybody knows a way you can search for someone who's due to go to prison let me know as google is failing me just searching their name

DerelictWreck · 16/01/2019 09:12

12 months minimum probably longer

sounds like a prison sentence to me!

BejamNostalgia · 16/01/2019 09:14

Re reading message it states 12 months minimum probably longer so definitely not being told the truth, you'd know how long you agreed to with something like rehab?

That sounds like prison. Sentenced to 3 years, eligible for parole in one, but no guarantee they’ll get it.

Romanov · 16/01/2019 09:15

Sounds like complete bollocks

Is this a boyfriend?

Helpplease282 · 16/01/2019 09:16

@BejamNostalgia Exactly what crossed my mind. Thanks for confirming as I wasn't sure exactly how it worked

OP posts:
BejamNostalgia · 16/01/2019 09:17

You can search the crown court listings (which is where it would be for a prison sentence) here:

www.thelawpages.com/court-hearings-lists/crown-court-lists.php

If they are listed in a recent case, you can ring up and find the outcome.

JasperKarat · 16/01/2019 09:17

Sounds like prison and HDC date is in twelve months, but there's no guarantee of being released then. However if you've had NC for a while why bother contacting you at all? Are they just a drama llama and this is their way of getting your attention?

JasperKarat · 16/01/2019 09:18

"You can search the crown court listings (which is where it would be for a prison sentence) here:*
Not true could well be magistrates, multiple offences and consecutive sentences
