Aibu to wonder how the hell this is legal? It's PUBLIC transport and surely you need to be properly dressed for it.

partnor my commont was a general one that you can be offended/disapprove all you like but they havent done anything wrong

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 15/01/2019 09:37

Why does it bother you op?
Aside from the fact that they all look a bit daft?

partinor · 15/01/2019 09:37

Agree. Legally they have done nothing wrong. But lots of things are not illegal that are still examples of poor behaviour.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 15/01/2019 09:44

No not at all partnor they arent behaving badly they are travelling on a tube train. Yes its exhibtionism, some people will find that funny others wont. But thats not poor behavior at all. In which case people coming out of clubs are behaving badly no their just having a good time. Actors are behaving badly, no their just entertaining people. People who dress up on fun runs etc are behaving badly no their having a good time and entertaining people.

Its just fun they arent doing anything at all wrong. Illegally or behaving poorly. You can feel the way you do of course but thats your issue not theirs

Justkeeprollingalong · 15/01/2019 09:44

If you were offended by this you need to examine your attitude. A bit of harmless fun with as many women as men taking part.

NicolaStart · 15/01/2019 09:47

“Different rules apply to clothing dependant on where you are.”

Breaking the rules in a cheeky way is the basis of comedy and fun. The fact that they all do it together makes it different from perves, the fact that it is one specific day actually defines it as ‘not the norm’ so not a decline to our everyday standards.

I too am pretty down on men. The vast majority of deliberately sexually under-dressed people I see in public are women. So I can find no valid criticism here in terms of sexual politics.

And my life is grim enough without getting purse lipped and miserabilist about a load of people having fun.

DistanceCall · 15/01/2019 09:55

I'd rather see that than a niqab or a burqa. (And no, it's not because I'm Islamophobic. It's because I loathe the idea that women need to cover up their bodies).

WakeMeWhenTheyTurn18 · 15/01/2019 10:00

They may not have done anything wrong, but really wtf! Why would anyone want to go on a manky tube in their undies? I don't get the appeal. Its bad enough being on a tube/train and someone standing infront of you with their arse in your face, even worse if that arse is only covered by a skid marked pair of knock off calvins! Its one thing going out in skimpy clothing on the "pull" its totally different going out in your UNDERWEAR!
Im pretty sure that if this was a weekday morning in the middle of the rush hr and i decided i was going to work in my knickers n bra i would be done for public indecency.

Near where i live they do a naked dip in the sea on new year, but it is well advertised - no one is really on the beach on the 1st of jan, but they put signs up warning you there maybe naked or partially dressed people around. They tape of the area and they raise a shit load of money for charity. In a controlled environment, where they are not going to cause offence or expose themselves to a child.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 15/01/2019 10:04

expose themselves to a child no one doing no trousers tube day is exposing theirselves to a child either.

The appeal is its fun - not your taste in fun maybe but fun all the same

Didntwanttochangemyname · 15/01/2019 10:04

The fact that it offends anyone is why I wholeheartedly hope they continue to do it.
Anyway, it started in New York years ago, there is a Ted Talk about it

Didntwanttochangemyname · 15/01/2019 10:06

It's about the absurdity of a shared experience bringing people together.

purplelass · 15/01/2019 10:06

Another one who doesn't have any issue with this - maybe OP should avoid going out anywhere in the summer if she gets this offended by naked knees...

Orangecake123 · 15/01/2019 10:18

Not something I'd be comfortable doing, but I can't get fussed about it.

SoupDragon · 15/01/2019 10:25

People on mumsnet will make an uproar about literally anything.

Fixed that. People "on mumsnet" are really no different to people anywhere else.

SirGawain · 15/01/2019 10:27

This is clearly a posed photo shoot. I doubt if it happened during normal tube operating conditions.

appless · 15/01/2019 10:28

That's a matter of opinion!

79andnotout · 15/01/2019 10:28

I wouldn't do this as I have stumpy, lardy legs, but good on them! Nothing wrong with a bit of January frivolity.

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 15/01/2019 10:30

Ooh yeah.

And don't support anyone doing the Moonwalk for breast cancer. They actually wear bras in public. AND they adapt them to look as daft as possible with tinsel and xmas tree lights to raise money and HAVE FUN.

katekat383 · 15/01/2019 10:32

Wow. They look delightful. 🤮

LowbrowVictoriana · 15/01/2019 10:36

I think I've woken up in the wrong century.

It's only pants, FGS!

SoupDragon · 15/01/2019 10:57

Not really. If you canvassed a load of people on the high street you would have the same spread of responses. MN is just a very quick and easy way of seeing lots of opinions.

appless · 15/01/2019 11:05

Fascinating.

TheSubtleKnifeAndFork · 15/01/2019 11:43

Oh FFS OP - it's just a bit of fun, it's not harmful in any way that I scan see? Pull the stick out of your arse and lighten up, you might start enjoying life.

Looks like a pretty even split between men and women participating from the photos, or if anything more women. Jesus Christ must everything be a blood feminist crusade these days?

NicolaStart · 15/01/2019 12:20

“This is clearly a posed photo shoot. I doubt if it happened during normal tube operating conditions.”

It did happen on the regular tube service at the advertised times.

They travel in groups, and obviously some then pose for pics.

And LOL, I very much doubt that anyone taking part does so in anything other than what they consider to be their most photogenic pants, so I am sure we are saved a skid mark spectacle!

findurfavouritesorhaveabrowse · 15/01/2019 12:57

@TheSubtleKnifeAndFork lighten up? Enjoy life? You don't know me you're the one getting worked up about a stranger on a message board. Calm down dear. I don't have a stick up my arse sounds like you could do with something up you.
