Aibu to wonder how the hell this is legal? It's PUBLIC transport and surely you need to be properly dressed for it.

Seen far worse on the streets of my local town on a Friday or Saturday night.

WorraLiberty · 15/01/2019 08:49

If that was illegal, men and women would be arrested all through Summer for wearing 'short shorts' and hotpants.

Just harmless silliness

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 15/01/2019 08:51

You're not supposed to wear thongs, or anything "indecent". There are rules. It's been a thing on that day for years - they ride the different routes and do a small amount of walking and all meet at the pub. I've never done it, it's not my thing, but it's always seemed to be a pretty even blend of men and women and I've never known of any trouble there. There is a support person and a leader in each "group".

chocatoo · 15/01/2019 08:52

Quite liberating I would imagine..

Racecardriver · 15/01/2019 08:53

They’re just legs. Calm down.

RiddleyW · 15/01/2019 08:55

Those tube seats are going to be wiffy

Why? You realise the only skin touching the seats is on legs. Do you think women in short shorts make everything wiffy?

partinor · 15/01/2019 09:04

Exhibitionism. And no I don't think it is just a bit of fun.

joystir59 · 15/01/2019 09:05

Anyone remember a woman being kicked out of Tesco for wearing pyjamas.

RiddleyW · 15/01/2019 09:06

I agree it’s a bit exhibitionist.

How would you make it illegal though? A minimum shorts length?

Didntwanttochangemyname · 15/01/2019 09:08

I honestly think it's ridiculous that this could offend anyone - 'oh goodness, a bare leg Shock'

There are a million things in the world the are worth getting het up about, this is not one of them.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 15/01/2019 09:09

Do you mentally prepare yourself every time you go to the beach? This is no more exhibitionist than that!

LardLizard · 15/01/2019 09:11

Really no worse then a lot of shorts

NicolaStart · 15/01/2019 09:15

“Anyone remember a woman being kicked out of Tesco for wearing pyjamas.”

Well that is up to Tesco, private property, protecting their brand.
I dare say TfL could make a similiar rule. But the short shorts / skirts phenomenon is going to cause issues in implementation.

But in this case men and women are being treated equally, none arrested,

So what was the point?

NicolaStart · 15/01/2019 09:16

“I agree it’s a bit exhibitionist. “

As are many ‘clubbing ‘ outfits.

There is a Santa day too, where everyone dressed as Santas.

partinor · 15/01/2019 09:16

Beaches are different. I would think it is fine for women and men to be topless on a beach. If a woman walked down the high street topless she would be at risk of getting arrested. We all recognise that there are different clothing rules in different places.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 15/01/2019 09:17

Well i've seen wpmen less covered up walking down the street coming put of night clubs at 4 am.

The first 5 or 6 pictures on that page were WOMEN - so where you've got mostly men from i'm not really sure.

As for your response to the hat cpmment just proves that your really not with it. The person that made the comment was making it because yes she'd get on the tube see these people in their pants and get on the carriage and go aint you cold and have a good laugh with them and not be at all offended.

If you were trying to prove that oh look its mem sticking their genitalia in poor womens faces again this wasnt the way to do it. Their wearing covering pants, all you can see is legs.

Whitney168 · 15/01/2019 09:17

My first thought is why on earth would anyone organise this in January, rather than June?!

Slothslothsloth · 15/01/2019 09:17

I am pretty down on men as a group tbh, and even I think it’s ridiculous to get worked up about this. There are lots of women there too. It’s very public. I just can’t imagine feeling seriously sexually threatened in this scenario, so I suspect the objections are largely down to pure prudishness about the body.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 15/01/2019 09:21

if a woman walked down the highstreet opless she would be at risk of getting arrested
But she wouldnt if she walked down the street wearing a crop top or a sports bra. If you think she would your wrong

These people aren't flashing, or showing anything. Their genitalia is covered

ChesterGreySideboard · 15/01/2019 09:22

There were just as many women as men in the pictures.
Most people were wearing nothing that much shorter than they would wear in the height of the summer.

mogonfoxnight · 15/01/2019 09:24

There are loads of women in the photos! And nearly everyone is smiling! I think it is really funny, and very silly. Those crazy London folk.

Yulebealrite · 15/01/2019 09:26

I’d laugh if I saw this. Surely you wouldn’t feel threatened.

partinor · 15/01/2019 09:28

Naught my comment was in reply to the person talking about being at the beach. Different rules apply to clothing dependant on where you are.

partinor · 15/01/2019 09:29

And I have no idea what people coming out of clubs at 4am are wearing as I am in bed.
I would not feel threatened by this, but I do disapprove.

appless · 15/01/2019 09:32

People on mumsnet will make an uproar about literally anything.
