I like Albert and Albie. Albert is a lovely traditional name.

I’m not insulting the babies, Namesnamesnamess. Simply the ones who decided to name the babies that in this age.

They’re not prim or proper and won’t make you look above standard. They’re just stale. Again just an opinion, I don’t go around telling the baby Alberts and Martha’s parents how hideous their names are. Hmm

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 15/01/2019 17:37

Grim name. What will albie think of his name when he is 35

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/01/2019 17:40

It's great, a strong name. If you like nicknames lots of good ones too.

Namesnamesnamess · 15/01/2019 18:36

Sabrina by saying someone couldn’t look at a child and think ‘aww’ because of the name their parents gave them, is mean and insulting to the child as well as the parents.

There are many names I’m not keen on but I can think that without being offensive and it wouldn’t reduce the appeal of cuddly newborn baby or cute toddler because I didn’t like their name.
I’m not sure which standard it is that you refer to either, never knew there was one....
Just looking for a name no particular ‘standard’ in mind Confused

Thanks for the thoughts everyone else.

Omzlas I think it’s just a personal preference whether you use the full name on bc, or shortened version.

Some people use middle names, when day to day you would never call your child ‘first name middle name’. So this could be seen as pointless too, but it’s just what people prefer and if they want something in particular on the bc.
Each to their own.

Love Albert, but not Albie. Bertie or Al are OK IMO.

Justheretogiveaviewfrommyworld · 15/01/2019 18:44

I met a baby called Ezra last week, so I don't think Albert will sound old fashioned in a yearr or two.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 15/01/2019 18:45

I don’t like any iteration of the name Albert. It’s just ugly sounding imo.

But he’s not my baby, so take no notice and do whatever you want!

Laureline · 15/01/2019 18:45

I like Albert.

For the PP who was criticizing Martha, for example it’s a popular girl’s name in Portugal where I live (spelled Marta) and it’s a perfectly nice name for a girl.

SheAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 15/01/2019 20:43

I quite like Ezra.

SabrinaSpellmann · 15/01/2019 21:18

Hmm I’m assuming you took it as I can’t find a baby cute if they’re named one of those particular names? No. I mean I can’t picture a sweet little baby with such ugly, old names.

Satandard as in are you picking it because it’s old and stale and so not many people will have it? Are you picking it because it’s traditional? Perhaps it’s because I myself find it hard to believe how any modern parent could pick such an old name. Not sure how it’s insulting though, unless I’m shouting it from the rooftops tbh. Confused

Albie is lovely. So is Ezra
