And I mean proper fun like you can imagine yourself now having a wicked time getting nothing but pure enjoyment and happiness out of?
I can't think of much at all and this year I need to start making time for myself, I love my children and DH but I need something for me that's fun and that will give me a sense of achievement maybe I'm not too sure.
Things I used to love doing , going on a bike ride around Richmond park, splashing around in the sea, I can't think of nothing else!!! I recently took up reading and read the book within 3 days, that was sort of relaxing but not much fun Confused

OP posts:

Walking in the hills

Splashing in the sea
All with or without dc and DH

Drinking wine and getting together with friends.

I do so love getting pissed with DH.... obvs with 2 DC this is less than it used to be, but kids ocassionally go to Grand parents and then I go fll out.. Fancy outfits, sipping cocktails in expensive bars during the day, coming home and not worrying about being loud... only happens about 3 times a year but tis great fun and makes me feel like the "old" me....

Apart from that I love a bit of craft
Big walks with all the family and dog
Sunday night film clubs
Sex with DP

went to Disney in Dec with DC and that was amazing. I wasnt expecting it to be so much fun... totally swept up in Disney magic, waving at all the characters and screaming with hands in the air on Big Thunder Mountain... that was fun.

I also love going on good holdiays with my DH and DC. We went to one holiday recently and went on an amazing water park - which was unadulterated fun. Also earlier last year we were abroad and a storm was blowing in. We were all in the sea with massive waves, diving under them, and getting knocks about - kids loved it.... my head felt v whoshy for days after but it was that kind of joy you get when your a kid racing down a hill on a bike - all encompassing...

Also do dancing lesson with best friend that normally ends in us pissing ourselves laughing too.,

Junkmail · 15/01/2019 13:13

It used to be horse riding before I got too injured. Nothing better than spending all afternoon riding my horses out across the countryside. Such an escape from everyday life.

Now I hike and I get the same feeling. Just drive away to the glens and spend hours with the dogs exploring. It’s wonderful to just reconnect with nature and let all the stress go.

caperplips · 15/01/2019 13:19

Travel as often as we can - my idea of heaven is spending time researching where to go, where to stay, best things to do there, make a itinerary (revolutionised our trips, esp travelling with dd) usually with a glass of wine and regular updates to dh. I would say I enjoy the planning and the research almost as much as the trip!

book shopping, I love books and read a lot and tend to buy 3 or 4 at time. I like to browse for a long time before making my choices, it can easily take an hour or two and then I like to go for a nice coffee and look at the books deciding which one to read first.

cooking, I LOVE cooking, especially when not under mid-week schedule pressure. We regularly have friends over and again I love spending an evening planning a menu and chatting to dh about this.

Maybe I just love planning things!

Other things that are fun for me:
meeting friends
spending an entire weekend without leaving the house in winter
lighting the fire and cozying up with the dogs

I recently had a ridiculous amount of fun building a HUGE Lego model of Tower Bridge that DH bought me for Christmas. It took me days but looks wonderful i am so proud of it.

I generally do like crafts and making things.

I also play in a band which is fun and challenging and also gets you out of the house and meeting new people. I guess a choir would be the same.

Probably one of the best things I think you can do to feel good though is to get the boots on and go for a long walk.

Oh and someone up thread mentioned Escape Rooms. They are a blast! We have done 7 or 8 now and look forward to doing more.

Theconifers25 · 15/01/2019 13:57

What is the difference between hiking and walking for leisure. Perhaps there isn’t one?

GrumpyOldMare · 15/01/2019 14:03

Reading
Walking
Photography-combine that with a good walk and it's heaven.
Local history research - I can fall down a rabbit hole and be lost for hours.
Cycling.

Leah2005 · 15/01/2019 14:18

Belly dancing was hilarious until teacher talked about entering local carnival.
Playing cluedo with my 18yo ds was also unexpectedly hilarious. He said we never played it enough when he was little and he seems to have learnt different tactics since age 6.

Greenglassteacup · 15/01/2019 14:21

Going to see bands
Listening to very loud, noisy music
Reading
Box sets
Going to the coast
Visiting favourite places with favourite people
Making things
Baking things

evilharpy · 15/01/2019 15:27

Watching box sets with husband

Fitness is my favourite thing, I love going to the gym to do classes and Les Mills On Demand at home, I can think of few things I would rather be doing than an RPM class
Visiting National Trust properties and having a picnic in the garden if it's a nice day

Walks in the countryside with husband and child

Clothes shopping - pottering around aimlessly like I did when I was a teenager except with more money - especially charity shop hunting

Reading trashy crime novels

Having lunch in nice cafes/restaurants
