And I mean proper fun like you can imagine yourself now having a wicked time getting nothing but pure enjoyment and happiness out of?
I can't think of much at all and this year I need to start making time for myself, I love my children and DH but I need something for me that's fun and that will give me a sense of achievement maybe I'm not too sure.
Things I used to love doing , going on a bike ride around Richmond park, splashing around in the sea, I can't think of nothing else!!! I recently took up reading and read the book within 3 days, that was sort of relaxing but not much fun Confused

How old are your children? Could you take them cycling around Richmond Park? Splashing in the sea is probably a bit more seasonal, but swim in a pool (swimming makes me very happy). Or go to somewhere with water slides?

I love quiet, calming activities like crafts, making things, knitting, sewing.

Mondayjustaboutmadeit · 14/01/2019 21:02

Switching off from the real world by going wildish camping, letting the kids go feral (as no one else is around anywhere) and a bit of hiking via a pub... Heaven

tobermoryisthebestwomble · 14/01/2019 21:20

Gigs! I love live music, that feeling of being in a crowd, and that the night could last forever. I don't go as often as I'd like due to kids, distance from the city and funds, maybe 4 or 5 times are year. But they are my best times and sustain me for ages afterwards.

Girlicorne · 14/01/2019 21:21

This may sound a bit sad but all stuff with the kids! Theme parks, zoos, farms, weekends away, swimming, long walks! I d rather spend my spare money on that than going out drinking, for adult meals etc. Me and DH go out about once a year but that's fine with us!

chaplin1409 · 14/01/2019 21:24

I need to find fun things to do My self. I have always loved doing all the kids stuff like the zoo, swimming etc but they are getting older now and just bust doing their own thing.

crispsahoy · 14/01/2019 21:30

Horse riding, I actually enjoy the work that goes with them too but that's probably coz I don't have to do it every day.

Trying new food places, I love to eat.

BlueJava · 14/01/2019 21:36

Reading - esp Asian fiction (set in historic Japan etc) and non fiction
Listening to some programmes on radio 4
Cooking and eating a lovely special family meal
"Doing Christmas!"
Going out hiking and photographing interesting architecture/nature
Helping my sons with any school work
I recently completed a part time MSc, genuinely loved studying

ToffeePennie · 14/01/2019 21:41

Baking, properly getting stuck in with my concoctions, experimenting with flavours and texture and not having the kids under my feet wanting to roll out pastry etc.
A proper spa day with my friends, my Nan and my grand mother’s.
Reading. I am a voracious reader and I have several books on the go at any one time. Every time I can snatch a second I open it, but to spend a good 3 or 4 hours devouring 5 or 6 books would be amazing.
A proper long hot soak in the bath. Without poo particles or random rubber toys.
Luxury at its finest!

Rodenhide · 14/01/2019 21:43

I play squash
Swimming
Reading GOOD books
Going out to see films
I write scripts, short stories and articles
Did travel a lot for work and for pleasure but will have to cut back a lot
I concentrate on research projects again both for work and pleasure (massive nerd)

There's other stuff like binging on Netflix and pissing about on my phone which I find fun at the time but rarely look back at happily later on.

Rodenhide · 14/01/2019 21:43

Oh yeah. Alcohol.

partinor · 14/01/2019 21:46

Going dancing at discos.

Being silly with DH

This thread makes me sad. I can’t reme the last time I had fun. I can’t imagine ever having fun again.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 14/01/2019 21:58

Hooning around the countryside on one of my horses. Nothing beats it. The shit shovelling, hay net filling and all that is less fun at this time of year, but totally worth it.

On a very different note, I like taking photographs of churches...

I like the sound of showing sheep too.

Going on long walks

Pernickity1 · 15/01/2019 08:28

Travel/Weekends away. Comedy gigs - don’t get away enough with two under two but I have a night away in a city planned for April with an old school friend - booked a fab restaurant, comedy gig after and then we’ll go for drinks - I’m living for this night at the mo! I went zip lining (really high, fast, long zip lines) and bungee jumping on my last holiday - so much fun!

CharlyAngelic · 15/01/2019 11:35

haha @showmeshoyu

AnotherPidgey · 15/01/2019 11:59

Well my reading of the thread was interrupted by a fabulous song on the radio which made me get up, sing and dance around the kitchen, like ballet leaping (except my body isn't as dainty and elegant as my brain aspires, but who cares!)

Running, preferably in the countryside

Hiking (getting more viable as the children grow and get more stamina)

Youth group volunteering

Had a lovely NYE playing board games with another family. Had to drive because of the kids so no drinking.

I miss dance classes. Adult ballet was great. Children's social life currently dominating evenings.

Being silly with the kids... we did junior parkrun together the other day and cheered on the older one with silly challenges.

I used to do a lot of crafty stuff. I've kept it to return to but still too tired by the time I sit down in the evening. Hopefully inspiration will return one day like my reading skills have at last.

Being silly and not caring what others think is very empowering for the soul.

Stompythedinosaur · 15/01/2019 12:18

Play board games.
Sex with dp.

speakout · 15/01/2019 12:57

My pleasures are very simply.
Sharing a bottle of wine with OH and some tasty snacks.
Walking in the woods.
A yoga class.
Collecting stones by the river.
A simple holiday in Greece in a very quiet village,

I don't like clubs, pubs, gigs, anything involving adrenalin.

speakout · 15/01/2019 13:00

Simple.
