So we live in a cul de sac and facing the road is our driveway and side garden. Front door is on the other side. For a few weeks I’ve been noticing the same car driving up blocking the dropped kerb for our drive and a lady getting out and having a fag sitting on our garden wall.
That’s fine, I haven’t needed to go out when she’s been there. Her habit isn’t affecting me.
This week I was picking up the dogs mess and noticed that there’s tons of fag butts in my garden. She’s obviously just been slinging them over the fence.
Today I waited till she arrived and I went out to her to ask her to take her rubbish with her and not throw them in my garden. She told me to get fucked and she will do what she likes.
I didn’t really have any comeback for that so scuttled back inside.
Being both a coward and a nosy bitch I jotted down her car reg. Lo and behold the DVLA website says it’s not mot’d.
WIBU to tip off whoever enforces those things next time I spot her? She’s pretty regular time wise.

I would defo report her to the police when she has pulled up and see if they can get a patrol car round and catch her driving with no mot, they can prosecute her.

Use your phone to video her driving the vehicle on a road. Make sure it is a right-hand drive vehicle. Include in the video the make and most important the registration number of her car. Ring your local bobby on 101. Best of luck there.... and report the incident.

Her stinking fag doubts would have been getting promptly thrown in her face 100% I would be reporting the no MOT thing, as another poster said, if she has no MOT then she has no valid insurance, so then what happens if she has an accident?

Think of it as karma catching up with her when she gets a wee chap at her door

I would just pop out next time you see her and ask if she would like to come along tomorrow as well as some of your religious friends are coming in for coffee then and she would be welcome to join you...

I also love your mil! Just a word of caution on the MOT - the DVLA website doesn’t always differentiate between a car with no MOT and a car that doesn’t need an MOT. Is the car old enough to need one?

If you were to smear grease over the ironwork on your wall, you could put a little laminated sign next to it, ‘politely requesting that people refrain from sitting, or leaning on the wall, and if they choose to, it’s at their own risk’.

She may lean on it just to be contrary, but the warning will be there in black and white .

I hope you reported her. It's bad enough she sits and chuck cigarettes in your garden, but then to be met by such a rude and aggressive response is awful! It's absolutely not okay, you shouldn't have to scuttle away into your home because someone's making you feel threatened like that.

Smother her with kindness. Every single time she is there, pop out with a cup of coffee, a sandwich, an umbrella if it's raining, a blanket if it's cold. Say you're sorry you upset her last time and you want to be friends. Best friends

Bravo to your MIL! I did something like that years ago when NDN teenage son used to chuck his used condoms out of his window into our garden (small terraced houses). One day I put one of them in an envelope and delivered it through their letterbox (ha!) with a short note.

Pour some cooking oil where she sits. In fact I would get a paint brush and paint the entire top of the wall and the front with cooking oil.

A guy I clean for kept getting bags of dog poo thrown in his garden so I got him a cctv sign for in his window as a deterrant. It worked and much cheaper than actual cctv !
