All that zoflora...so many chemicals...can't be healthy??

I tried that Zoflora stuff once and I developed the worst headache I've ever had - it didn't go until the smell had disappeared.

Vile stuff.

Much happier with washing up liquid and hot water, Dettol anti-bacterial spray if needed.
Very diluted bleach if things need a really good clean (after bugs and such.)

The only 'extra' thing I do is mix a bit of my fabric conditioner with water in a spray bottle to use on bedsheets, pillows, soft furnishings between washes.

She seems to have created an 'army' and it's so strange to watch - surely these people cleaned their homes before Mrs Hinch came along?
The hoarding of cleaning supplies and mixing of chemicals is baffling, but it's her life and her money.

I think this country is gaining eco momentum and she would be wise to notice that.
That is the greyest house I’ve ever seen. But she comes across as very nice and relatable so good luck to her.
Cleaning really helps my anxiety (not that you could tell from my house!) so I get it.

Her house will be immaculate with a newborn. All grey and matching then she will disappear when the baby's a toddler lol

At the risk of being accused of defending her or being "one of her people" again Confused I think the filter thing is more to do with anxiety, her stories make it no secret that she suffers from it.
I mean, nearly all her stories are just her arm, not her face. The rare ones of her face to camera have the filters on maybe because she "hides" behind them. That's how I see it anyway.

She seems a nice enough person but I do wonder what effects all that scented chemical cleaner exposure is having on her health. Plus she has a (lovely) dog and heavily scented products irritate their skin too. I’m sure living in a near sterile, over environment does your immune system no good.

In fairness to TOMM, the 5am club isn’t part of the cleaning routine. That’s just something she does to get work done before the kids are up rather than staying up til 11pm for no reason.

Zoflora isn’t deadly to cats. As long as they can’t walk on it or lick it while it’s wet, it’s totally pet safe. And keeping pets of surfaces wet with ANY cleaning product is just good practice.

I don’t mind Mrs Hinch. I don’t love her grey house and I find the all grey trend baffling, but it’s not me who lives there! I find he funny and she motivates me to clean.

She seems nice enough but she isn't my cup of tea. As with everything on instagram/social media I take a lot of it with a pinch of salt, she may have started off as a channel about cleaning tips but she's now an advertisement channel as all "influencer" channels are.

I do however find all the excess very distasteful. I know people who have been buying up every different zoflora scent to hoard, I just don't get it.

Also for those saying it’s the greyest house they’ve ever seen, check out @ourmontreauxhome - I actually thought all the photos on it had a black and white filter, but it’s actually just that there is no colour in the house at all. It’s really disconcerting.

Pachyderm1 - Zaflora is harmful to pets / cats and the environment. You said so yourself... As long as they can’t walk on it or lick it while it’s wet, it’s totally pet safe.
It's bonkers to assume that you are always able to keep your pets and child away from freshly cleaned damp surfaces! Unless you don't have any.

I agree! I can't watch a women clean a clean house any longer. The tip about leaving fabric softener in the sink for 4 HOURS to get it sparkling, when it wasn't dirty to begin with! How is she relatable to anybody?

I also worry about the wastefulness of her and the ridiculous amount of products she collects. Not to mention the chemicals all over that house. There was a story in the paper a year ago about a women who mixed Zoflora with bleach and it made chlorine gas and she almost died.

The worst bit though is the overuse of fabric softener. It's a horrible product at the best of times which coats fibres in a layer of grease to make them feel soft but actually it's just clogged them up and it can make clothes and furniture flammable. It doesn't have any cleaning qualities in it either so I really don't understand why leaving it in a sink or spraying it on doors would do anything. Ridiculous.

I don't get the obsessive use of chemicals, surely the sofa must be greasy with all of that fabric conditioner sprayed on it daily. Saying that my sofa probably smells of ass Grin

It's made me feel like such a minger to be honest. The most I clean my sink with is white vinegar and boiling water, I use the dish cloth rinsed in the washing up bowl for the counters and table, method anti bac for the toilet and bathroom, toilet gel once a week month, e cover floor mop damped with a bit of water to use on the floors after hoovering and that is all.

I have 2 under 2 and I probably should clean more. Blush

Of course all those toxicity warnings about Zoflora look alarming when they’re copied and pasted like that, but presented with no context or understanding of what it actually means is a bit pointless 🤷‍♀️

I bet basic bleach, or Harpic, or kitchen cleaning sprays, or anti-mould sprays all have similar warnings. The key is understanding what those warnings actually mean. That, and making sure you use the products as directed.

More and more Mrs Hinches and her ilk will be popping up as the green/non-waste movement gathers pace, mark my words. It's capitalism, pure and simple. There's a threat to business if people stop doing/buying certain things, so we're being fed "figures" and "crazes" like Hinch to keep us involved in the consumerist machine.

I'm sure Lakeland will have been delighted this morning to hear a product they sent to her being described as 'I don't even know where this came from or what it is or if it's even any good' That's one way of getting round declaring gifts anyway! 😂

I honestly don’t get this. I have two cats. When I use any product, zoflora or otherwise, to clean the kitchen, I just shut them out until it’s dry (usually about 20 minutes).

I suppose if you have a totally open plan house and can’t shut the door on your kitchen or bathroom it’s more difficult - in that case I can see why you would stick to brands like Method.

Sink: squirt washing up liquid, sponge, wipe, done.

I clean the bath with soap and water and a sponge.

If you want paint stripper, use anti bacterial spray on gloss. Takes it off. I have a painless newel post. Ds had a habit of sitting on it after sitting on the muddy school field, hence the regular cleaning and as it turns out paint stripping it.

I like the idea of TOMM but the get up at 5am stuff seems sexist and outdated to me.

Tbf her husband is doing it with her, she did a video about it the other day :)

She seems nice enough, if a bit erm, unintelligent.
Her cleaning stories are boring though as her home is spotless. I hate that she literally dumps loads of chemicals down the sink and toilet for no apparent reason. So wasteful and bad for the environment.
I’ve used Zo Flo for years as a disinfectant- in fact the smell always reminds me of vomit because I used it for its intended purpose 😂😂
I much prefer little miss mops- she’s a cleaner by trade and actually cleans dirty houses rather than throwing chemicals all over a shiny new build

You don't have to get up at 5 AM to do TOMM. It's just what works for her. I don't do anything but eat something and sit in the morning due to morning sickness at the moment. I clean in the evening. That works for me. Whatever cleaning method you choose, it should fit in your life, not someone elses.

Lynsey has used Addis and worked with them for ages so I don’t mind it so much
I don’t mind Mrs H either I’m just fascinated by the growth and reach
It’s funny how people suddenly
Get behind one person but others doing similar don’t seem to have the same appeal

Horses for courses I suppose!

I really like Mrs Hinch, and what I always find baffling is I found her on Instagram because of a similar thread on her slagging her off and her “grey box” house. When I went on the thread I found a lounge fairly similar to mine, so I guess I know what a proportion of Mumsnet think of my house ☹️. The more Mumsnet slag her and others off, the more attention you are bringing to it and more followers. I have been using Zoflora for years (safely) and I have a full time job and kids and a pet. You don’t have be SAH to like Mrs Hinch or the other insta cleaning accounts. Never posted on a Mrs Hinch thread before (these seem to be regular on here), but like Mrs Hinch I also have anxiety and having a clean ordered home helps me, or it did till I saw that “grey box” comment which totally took the shine off my newly decorated (and saved up for) lounge.
