I'll start.

Céline Dion - Fly

Bloody hell, what a song. I only just discovered it today. The feel of the song and the lyrics are out of this world. Truly amazing. And extremely comforting if you've been through a child loss. Listen if you have the time Thanks

On a lighter note, Let's here it for the boy - Deniece Williams Grin

The Door To Your Heart - Taylor Dayne (so incredibly undervalued as a vocalist)

😀😀😀😀

Loving having another Taylor fan on here!

noideaatallreally · 14/01/2019 18:42

Another vote for Paul Heaton and Jaqui Abbot. The lyrics in his songs are so, so clever and perceptive - sundial in the shade is heartbreaking. That whole album is brilliant.

I also love Hue and Cry - The Man With the Child in His Eyes.
Life in a Northern Town - Dream Academy

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/01/2019 18:45

Paul Heaton's new album (Last King of Pop) is a great introduction to his (and Jacqui Abbots} work.

MissingGeorgeMichael · 14/01/2019 18:47

@CoughLaughFart How great to meet another fan!

I love Taylor.

CoperCabana · 14/01/2019 18:47

Just added Wonder by Embrace to the Playlist.

You’re welcome Smile

pineapplecrush · 14/01/2019 18:47

Amy McDonald - This is the life, she's fantastic, seen her live, underrated.
Another vote for Duel by Propoganda
I'm in love with a German film star - The Passions
Drinking in LA - Bran Van.
Ghost in my house - R Dean Taylor.

WeepingSong · 14/01/2019 18:48

Weeping Song - Nick Cave. Most people say 'Who?"

Goodadvice1980 · 14/01/2019 18:53

I love Taylor Dayne too!

For me, it has to be The Chauffeur by Duran Duran.

Love the Celine Dion song already mentioned (Fly) but so sad why she wrote it Sad

@rightreckoner

Mine's a Specials one too - Gangsters. I'm an old bat of 67 with mobility problems (osteoarthritis and knee replacements) but at a fundraiser last year, my feet were on the dancefloor before my brain had registered what had led them there! Smile

Yabbers · 14/01/2019 19:27

@IamFrauBlucher

Brilliant idea on the playlist! Just had a run through it with DD(9). What a great evening we had. I have to say, some crud on there but most were pretty good. I got weirdly starstuck when mine played 😂. Discovered some bands /song I’d never heard and liked. Especially Train - I love them.

The winner goes to @Mammyloveswine. Tammy Wynette No Charge is one that takes me right back to childhood.

@ALittleCrisp - I think GOSH did have Wires as their advert. It is so emotional. Neither me nor DD could listen to it tonight all the way through as we were close to losing it.

Best MN thread for a very long time

cheesemumma · 14/01/2019 19:30

Any James Morrison song especially this boy.

Sara barielles- city

Lemar- feels right

Ray lamontagne- the best thing

Mammyloveswine · 14/01/2019 19:35

@yabbers thank you preens.

Must listen to it and encourage my tiny dictators to listen to the words and start earning their keep... at age 3 and 1 I doubt it'll hit them in the feels though Grin

Dontsayyouloveme · 14/01/2019 19:35

Somebody Like Me - Atomic Kitten (trust me! 😂)

Naked - James Arthur

Everytime - Britney (again, trust me!)

Stay on These Roads - Aha

2019Dancerz · 14/01/2019 19:35

Rememory no River Detectives on Spotify (travesty) but they’re on YouTube.

Dontsayyouloveme · 14/01/2019 19:37

Branleuse I loved the Colourfield. Love that song (and love Terry Hall).

borntobequiet · 14/01/2019 19:53

R.E.M. Fall on Me

PatPhoenix · 14/01/2019 20:02

Our Lips Are Sealed by the Fun Boy 3. I basically drop to my knees when Terry Hall is involved in a song in any way, he reminds me of all the hard boys on the school bus who had far better eyeliner technique than me, far more vertical hair than me, and were knicker-wettingly exciting. Also the first time I actually witnessed a woman drumming on telly.

Go by Public Service Broadcasting. Should be on Match of the Day or something (actually, given that I never watch football, perhaps it already is and it's only previously underrated by me). I am OB-SESSED with this track.

rightreckoner · 14/01/2019 20:06

Terry Hall is so far among the most nominated on this thread - and in three different bands. I think he gets the overall award for brilliantness combined with underratedness Grin

rightreckoner · 14/01/2019 20:07

Yes I do love him too pat. I even have the Arab music mashup album Grin

FilthyforFirth · 14/01/2019 20:17

Love this thread and also love The Specials and Fun Boy Three!

My input is Yes by Mcalmond and Butler. Such a glorious song! Off to listen to it now...

dustarr73 · 14/01/2019 20:18
