Just re-watching it here on Gold. Jean and Dolly have to be my favourites. They definitely had some of the best lines.

Dolly: Who has sex on Christmas morning?
Jean: The Dalai Lama
Dolly: Well! He must peel his sprouts the night before!

And, discussing Jean's relationship with Stan.

Dolly: Is he laying your new lino then?
Jean: He's laying anything he wants to lay!

I love it desperately. Its beautifully observed, well acted and so poignant. I still can't believe Victoria is gone.

dinnerladies is my goto gentle comedy too. "I'm from Urmston. There's two ways to get there."

Even just the theme tune makes me smile. Wonder if I can get it as a ringtone? (Do ringtones even exist these days?)

I have two friends that I can have entire dinnerladies conversations with! We went to see The Full Monty and ran across the car park fir Andrew Dunn’s autograph shouting ‘Tony!’ - and he stopped for us!! Could hardly speak, we were so excited!

@FabulouslyFab, I cry, proper snotty, gulpy sob, every time I watch the bit where Tony gets the brass band in the cafeteria for Bren. Every blooming time.

Tony: Come on if you think you're hard enough. Period?

Twinkle: Ha ha, three weeks late!

Tony: Bren you sort it, I'm having a fag!

I love all the little call backs to earlier episodes that you don't notice first time round. Like the baby hat Anita is showing off in S2 Ep1...

Loved this. Victoria Wood was brilliant in anything.

Love it, especially the ‘I’m from urmston’ line which still makes me laugh even now.

Another one who loved Victoria Wood and all her works. I watched Housewife 42 again at Christmas.

I’ve just remembered moving back up north from living down south for a long while, and in my new job I got taken to the site “coffee shop” in the morning, where I got stuck behind someone doing a complex toast order for their office. Made my day and felt right at home.

I love all of VW’s songs from her original show in the 80’s.
