...to panic about childcare?

What on earth happens if you cannot sort childcare? DD (5) will soon have no after school care, both DH and I work full time, all the childminders and the after school club are full, and I am currently clinging to the ceiling and gibbering. I might climb down to run around the house screaming later.

Have tried council site, childcare.co.uk, FaceBook, the school year's WhatsApp group, the after school club, asking friends and asking our current childminder for any recommendations, and so far no joy. No family who could possibly do it for 200 miles.

Am I going to have to give up work??

Well that was a drip feed! Dh can look after him for the time being.

Self employed people can't just stop working Hmm

A student on a health or education related course, maybe? They are often free at this time, at least some of the week.

I can't believe the PP who have advised to tell your employer that you'll be leaving at 2 and that's just how it is - that really doesn't happen in the real world Hmm employees don't get to dictate their hours!

What a difficult situation - no advice for you but hope you get something sorted!

Courage no but they can be much more flexible with their time.

Any school mums that can help you out? Even offer to pay them?

For example, I work part time and I could technically look after people’s kids before and after school mon-wed and I do for friends when they need help.

Is that an option?

Your dh will need to flexitime his hours. Do you have local facebook page? You could ask if any childminders were available there?
