I like Daenerys but I’m hoping for Jon Snow to get his happy ever after, and Arya too :)

I hope the hound is the prince that was promised

Sorry, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. Whoever tPtwP is (if there is one at all) D&D will already have known about it from their conversations with GRRM, where the endgame was given to them, back between seasons 4 and 5.

In an interview during season 6 they basically said that while they knew the Hound was still alive and on the Quiet Isle, GRRM hadn’t told them what ha planned to do with him. That was ‘sort of fun’ because they could then do pretty much whatever they want with the character (like send him north on a stupid wight hunt).

Apart from a few theories, no on e really knows what GRRM has planned for the Hound. I bet he doesn’t even know. He’s just sort of ‘in stasis’ on the Quiet Isle waiting for a convenient plot point to turn up. My guess is that it has something to do with the fact that the Vale and the Quiet Isle are pretty much the only places on Westeros with shitloads of food and winter is coming. My other guess (a bit tinfoil) is that Sansa ends up hiding out in the female-only quarters on the Quiet Isle after some botched kidnap attempt by Ser Shadrich/Varys.

Either way, I don’t think GRRM is planning Cleganebowl but D&D will - the fans seem to really want it.

Either way, I don’t think you can read too much into the teaser trailer.

Last year’s featured that bit where Cersei was walking to/from the iron throne and she blew out a load of freezing cold air. The forums went utterly mental speculating on what it all meant, but in the end it was absolutely nothing.

KittyLane1 · 15/01/2019 08:46

Lyanna Stark is the (literal) princess who was promised. She married the Prince and became a princess and Ned promised her he would keep Jon (lightbringer) safe.

I like Dany I just think they could have found a better actress, I like that Dany isn't this amazing queen who knows exactly what to do, why would she be, she was a terrified little girl sold into gilded slavery and has fought her way out with very little sound guidance, I like that she is a mini mad queen who makes mistakes.

The Cersei prophecy is already messed up in the TV show because she told Cat she had another son who died, so 4 kids rather than then foretold 3. I think she will give birth to a dwarf and he will be the "little brother" who chokes her with tears.

I think Sansa and Tyrion will betray Dany together.

Say what you want about Joffrey, he wouldn't have put up with any of this crap.

EwItsAHooman · 15/01/2019 09:20

She never said she had a son who died, she said that Robert got her pregnant once and she took care of it which I took to mean she had some sort of abortion. In the books there are herbs and tea (moontea) that can prevent a pregnancy and get rid of a pregnancy.

SweetSummerchild · 15/01/2019 09:34

She never said she had a son who died

I’m pretty sure that in the show she did. I’ve not watched it for a long time (I re-read the books more recently) but I think she has a discussion with Cat about a baby that died back in season 1.

Books are definitely different. Then again, there’s no Valonqar part of the Maggie the Frog prophecy in the show at all.

KittyLane1 · 15/01/2019 09:44

She did in the show, she had a black haired son who died and Jaime took care of the body, this led some people to think he was Gendry .

Sharkirasharkira · 15/01/2019 10:06

In the books she said that Robert got her pregnant once but that she got rid of it - she hated Robert because he was still in love with Lyanna and not her, she would never have had his children. Also, she loved Jaime and wanted to have babies with him!

In the show she told Cat that she had a black haired baby but afaik this didn’t actually happen.

ABigBraclet · 15/01/2019 10:30

Maybe if dany gives birth, herr and jon will call it Lyanna if its a girl.

Yamayo · 15/01/2019 10:45

When will Dany have time to have a baby though? The wall is down, shit is about to hit the fan, surely deaths will happen before a potential birth?

OlennasWimple · 15/01/2019 10:51

I don't think we will see Robin again either, or Ellaria

Gendry has some hammer swinging to do but is expendable - though as the last Baratheon, he could still fulfill that promise that Ned and Robert made about joining their houses in marriage, if either Stark sister would marry him

OlennasWimple · 15/01/2019 10:52

I also don't think that we will go back to Esseros, so the Daario plot line has to be over too

BlooperReel · 15/01/2019 11:18

Thinking on it a bit more, I think Arya could die protecting Jon, they have always had a special relationship, he had needle made for her, it would be fitting if she protected him with it. (does she still have it? I can't recall)

ABigBraclet · 15/01/2019 11:38

Yes she does.

EwItsAHooman · 15/01/2019 12:14

She did in the show, she had a black haired son who died and Jaime took care of the body, this led some people to think he was Gendry

I missed that in the show then, I must have been thinking book.

sproutlove · 15/01/2019 13:20

Cersei tells Cat about her 'black haired' baby when they were sat by Bran's bed after his fall in season 1.
Also at some point Gendry says that his mother had yellow hair.

sproutlove · 15/01/2019 13:25

What about Meera Reed? Where is she now?
There is a fan theory that she is Jon's twin.

LaurieMarlow · 15/01/2019 13:28

I don't think meeras done. The Reeds are important (well they are in the books, as for the show who knows).

We need to hear from Howland Reed. Any indication that this part was cast?

LaurieMarlow · 15/01/2019 13:36

A quick google indicates that if there are any Reeds running around season 8, they're being kept under wraps.

Though I'm not entirely without hope as I read a quote from someone talking about 'unlikely' characters showing up in the endgame.

EwItsAHooman · 15/01/2019 13:54

Howland Reed is the only surviving eye-witness to what happened at Jon's birth/Lyanna's death.

Holidayshopping · 15/01/2019 13:55

As Bran can now see everything that’s ever been, what do we need Howland for?

EwItsAHooman · 15/01/2019 13:58

Pressed send too soon.

He would be able to back up what Bran is saying about Jon being a Targaryen because he was there.

EwItsAHooman · 15/01/2019 14:00

Basically Bran can say anything he wants and claim it was a vision. Who would believe him? And why should they believe him? However a vision backed up by an independent eye-witness....

blackteasplease · 15/01/2019 14:17

I thought Ned didn't tell Cat about Jon becuase if she was nice to him it would give the game away in itself. Her hostility was his protection.

I think the mountain being turned and then killed by hound is a good call.

I like Sansa. She has grown alot over the series.

blackteasplease · 15/01/2019 14:18

Bran is irritating. However I don't think his absence from trailer necessarily means anything. He's less popular so I think they put in characters people care about.

The feather bit is interesting and I'd forgotten Robert putting it there. Why did he do that in the first place?

CheerfulYank · 15/01/2019 14:51

I think Brian isn't in the crypt because it would be really hard for him to get down there.

I sometimes wonder if Tyene and Ellaria are both still alive. I don't remember how long she had to get the anecdote (I know it isn't long) but I wonder sometimes if Bronn secretly saved her. He did like her. I'm sure they're not, but since it is GOT and we haven't actually SEEN their bodies...

Has news traveled yet as to what happened at the Twins? I haven't heard anyone mention the Freys, which seems odd. I can't really keep track of the time line though so I don't know how long it's been since Arya did away with all of them. Is Edmure dead in their dungeon? Or does Jaime/the Lannister army have him with them?

I don't think Gendry is Cersei's. He's definitely not in the book so that would be a strange departure.

I know in the show she told Cat she had a baby who died but I wonder if that was true, or if she just said it to ingratiate herself since she planned to kill Bran.
