To ask for your recommendations for Sun a £9.50 holidays

Posting here for traffic.

We are trying to cut costs this year and have decided to go on a £9.50 sun holiday.

We have done this in the past and had very mixed results. We have had amazing holidays in europe (pre children) and had one lovely holiday at riviera sands in Cornwall but had a terrible time at Burnham on sea and grange over sands.

AIBU to ask you where you have been and where we should try or avoid?

A few of the eurocamp ones we have been to but not during the sun offer - I would recommend them though if you can manage to book them: cypsela in Spain or la croix de vieux pont in France (not 100% on spelling) also like look of bells Italia in Italy or duinrell Netherlands
From the uk we have done parkdean cherry tree in Norfolk, it was decent, we went to bewilderwood not far away!

LagunaBubbles · 09/01/2019 18:19

Went to 2 campsites in France through this, both were fab. One is Domainevdes Ormes and the other La Pointe St. Gilles, both in Brittany.

Any uk recommendations? Sorry to drip feed. Really don't want the additional travel expenses of flights or ferry

Personally I’d stay away from any park resorts or pontine ones! The haven in sands banks is amazing!

Last time we did one our caravan’s oven had broken and as it was evening time they upgraded us for free to the luxury lodge GrinGrin

Isn't it mostly swingers who take up this offer?

mumof2andstillsurviving · 09/01/2019 19:07

@Rosehip10 can't say I've ever heard that before

OP there is a facebook page called Breakfreeholidays....they do really honest reviews from people who have been on the 9,50 holidays and also on the 15.00 holidays and 10.00 holidays...it also gives you the booking codes and booking links..currently there is a promotion running on there now,,,might be worth a look.People post where is good value ,whats near and cleanliness and all the things you want to know before booking ...its really informative and the people are really honest which helps alot as they are ordinary families who have been..hope it helps

mumof2andstillsurviving · 09/01/2019 19:12

think also someone booked just now for butlins for feb half term for 15.00 each and they have pay no extra dates too so no surcharges for passes and linen

Bowerbird5 · 09/01/2019 19:15

My sister took her family to the one near Ayr twice. Said they had a lovely time. Hope you find something good.

DrFoxtrot · 09/01/2019 19:19

Northumberland is lovely, lots of sightseeing, castles and Holy Island. I've been to Haggerston Castle Haven Park and it was great.

gimmeadoughnut123 · 09/01/2019 19:45

The UK ones we have liked the most -

Woolacombe Sands in North Devon
Pendine Sands in South Wales (small facilities but good location)
Perran Sands in Perranporth

This year we are doing a Dorset one.
Are all the codes available now? I normally book once they are.

We go as a couple with a dog. £40 for 4 days away - bargain!!
The next time we book one it'll be for us, the dog, and a baby. I know lots of people that book these as families.

mouse26 · 09/01/2019 19:50

Only ever did it once and none of our preferences were available so ended up at prestatyn pontins, that was enough to put us off ever attempting them again. Even 5 years later the DC still remember the absolute horror Grin

froomeonthebroom · 09/01/2019 19:56

We've done loads of the sun holidays.

Good: Croyde Ruda, Haven in Poole, Havens near Weymouth, Haven near Exmouth all good for £9.50...wouldn't pay full price though!

Bad: There's a Park Resorts at Scarborough that is truly awful. Avoid like the plague.

NannyMcfanny · 09/01/2019 20:11

The Wild Duck Belton

What on earth makes you think that? Funny enough me, DH and our 2 boys have met no swingers on our holidays.

UhUhUhDennis · 09/01/2019 20:23

Just pick any Haven resorts you can't go wrong! All Havens are brilliant.

Popsicle27 · 09/01/2019 20:46

We do at least two per year, mostly Devon Cliffs, Trecco Bay both good if you have children. The only bad one we had was at Golden Sands in Dawlish, twas neither golden nor sandy!

user1468942365 · 09/01/2019 20:47

Hafan y Mor

Solasum · 09/01/2019 20:48

@Sally. The Butlins offer will be for accommodation only. If you’d want to swim or go to any shows or rides, you need to buy an entertainment pass (I forget the correct name) too

Monst3ra · 09/01/2019 21:02

Haven Hafan y mor was fantastic last year. I wanted to go back this year but DH wanted to try somewhere we've not been yet but we plan to go back to North Wales next year.

I booked our haven break this year on the haven website direct and the price difference wasn't that much and I've spread the cost over a few months. Something to think about.

flashbac · 09/01/2019 21:12

Is it really £9.50 per person? School holidays?
