I've named changed for this.

In your opinion. Not listening to social media or hear say or stereotypes.

If you were to go on a date what would be the one job that would put you off?

I think my husbands would come in the top 3 😩😩😩.

It's not new we have been together 12 years but when I mention it on here no matter what the bloody subject is they use his job as the reason for my post!!!

Pimp. Drug dealer.

Poshjock · 08/01/2019 20:33

Fatburg dismantler is the one job I couldn't do. Food waste fat gives me the heaves. I did watch a documentary and found out a fatburg dismantler in London was on nearly £100K p/a.

I work with Marines a lot. Got a lot of time for them tbh, of all the military I work with I find Marines easiest to get on with and there is a much smaller ratio of eejits to nice guys than similar combat branches.

TheFairyCaravan · 08/01/2019 20:33

oreo I knew he was in the armed forces from the minute I saw the thread in active convos. You are always going to get people who say "I couldn't be with someone in the military." Let them crack on with their lives and leave those of us who are married to, or in relationships, with armed forces personnel get on with ours.

I didn't set out to fall in love with an airman, but you can't chose who you fall in love with and we've had 25 very happy years and have got 2 wonderful kids.

umpteennamechanges · 08/01/2019 20:34

Anything involved in the sex industry - porn star, porn producer, escort, etc

Anything right wing - Tory MP, lobbyist for something horrible like fox hunting or cigarettes

Anything smelly or with shift work - bin man, waiter in the evenings, etc.

Ivegotthree · 08/01/2019 20:34

I fancy the idea of a Marine!

Sexy muscly brave hero - what's not to like?

Sonneedshelp · 08/01/2019 20:35

Undertaker .....it's a dead end job!

MoreCheeseDear · 08/01/2019 20:35

Armed forces. Could never have married into that.

MsLexic · 08/01/2019 20:36

Hitman
Drug dealer
Porn star
Poet... I should know.

treaclesoda · 08/01/2019 20:36

I had a school friend who was in the marines in his 20s. If you wanted to see someone almost spontaneously combust you just had to be there when someone said 'oh, I didn't know you were in the army' Wink

MyAuntyBadger · 08/01/2019 20:36

I wouldn't mind that op, if dh was a Marine. Is it because he's away a lot?
Lemonface Why wouldn't you like your partner to be a builder? Dh is a builder, it's great - he can fix things! And if he can't, he knows someone who can.

TakenForSlanted · 08/01/2019 20:36

At the risk of sounding terminally naive and the potentially even bigger risk of being sorry I asked shortly:

What on earth is a fatburger and how would one dismantle one?

Google only shows me pictures of hamburgers.

oreo1234 · 08/01/2019 20:36

He doesn't have muscles. Well not as you would imagine. You wouldn't know by looking at him.

MissWilmottsGhost · 08/01/2019 20:37

Marine? In top 3 worst jobs?

Do you really believe that, OP? Confused

Worse than loan shark, hardcore porn distributor, lawyer etc Grin

oreo1234 · 08/01/2019 20:37

@treaclesoda We don't use the A word here either lol

umpteennamechanges · 08/01/2019 20:38

Y'know the City and Canary Wharf aren't just wanker bankers...some of us are properly nice!

Also...personal trainer. I'm married to one, I'm lazy and really quite fat and he's the most loyal man ever so they're not all vain and after fitness model types.

oreo1234 · 08/01/2019 20:38

InI dint believe it. But I don't like how people dish as the PP say we get support or a house?

OP posts:
treaclesoda · 08/01/2019 20:39

fatberg

You're welcome Smile

Polarbearflavour · 08/01/2019 20:39

DH is a military officer and he’s lovely.

I work with Royal Marines and they are fab, much better than most civil servants I have worked with!

Ijustwanttofeelbeautiful · 08/01/2019 20:40

Taken www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-devon-46787461

I agree with anything in the sex industry, or anything that involved animal cruelty. Can’t get worked up about pay day lenders, debt collectors etc as I used to work in a similar role and someone has to do it 🤷‍♀️

Ragwort · 08/01/2019 20:40

There are some really narrow minded people on this thread Hmm. A Marine is a great career, and not at all easy to get into.

Can’t believe people who write off so many hard working people or sneer at minimum wage jobs.

My personal objections would be to loan sharks, anyone who worked in the porn ‘industry’, a drug dealer or similar shady occupations.

MissWilmottsGhost · 08/01/2019 20:40

Fatburg = solidified fat that blocks sewers Taken

DH's previous job used to involve locating drain blockages and unblocking them. He did learn not to lean over open manhole covers with his phone in his shirt pocket after the third one plopped in.

WhoWants2Know · 08/01/2019 20:41

I would not be ok with anything in the sex industry or check cashing/doorstep loan type business.

I'm not put off by jobs that are smelly, as long as they are good, honest work.

But dangerous jobs...

I find farmers and firefighters very interesting to chat with, but I would feel perpetually worried about whether they were being hurt on the job.

umpteennamechanges · 08/01/2019 20:41

Meh...Marine wouldn't bother me 🤷🏻‍♀️

ClaireElizabethBeauchampFraser · 08/01/2019 20:41

I wouldn’t personally want to be married to a marine but that’s because the marines I know, are serial shaggers! Although I do realise that not all marines will be the same!

I am far too anxious to be a forces wife so I solute you OP. I have a great admiration for the men and women who are in our armed services! And for their families back home! My dh used to work offshore and that was hard enough- I can’t imagine how difficult it must be when your dh is off in a war zone or away for months at a time!
