The nice food has all gone, family and friends have gone home (other ends of the country) DH has gone back to work 6 days pw and I'm at home with 2 kids under 3 on my own.

Oh and the washing machine and car are on the blink. Anyone else feeling a bit blue today?

Yep. First day back at work in a job that bores me but that I feel trapped in for multiple reasons til the kids are older. Kids were grumpy and horrible this morning which made me wonder why I bother. And back on the diet so a nasty diet dinner tonight with no cheery carbs. I feel your pain x

OneStepMoreFun · 07/01/2019 15:07

Back at work today and just want to sulk and win the lottery I don't enter Hmm , so I never have to work again. Dry Jan and diet too, so no slugging back wine and chocs for a quick lift.

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 07/01/2019 15:15

I just have no energy or motivation at the minute. I feel absolutely exhausted.

That (plus a very heavy period zapping me of the minimal energy I do have) is making me miserable.
Have upped the iron dosages now though, I'm sure that'll have something to do with it.

Holidayshopping · 07/01/2019 15:16

Yep-I feel totally depressed and not looking forward to weeks of early alarm wake-ups in the dark Sad.

Confusedbeetle · 07/01/2019 15:23

Radio 4 Start the week this morning. Well worth having a listen on Catchup. The issue is made worse by lack of sunlight. Even on a cloudy Jan morn a walk to work will do wonders for your circadian rythm and wellbeing. Also illness will cause a type of inflammation in the brain that causes depression. Lack of Vit D is also a problem

ShatnersWig · 07/01/2019 15:27

Nope. Worked Sunday 23rd, Xmas Eve, Boxing Day, Thursday 27th, Friday 28th, Saturday 29th, Monday 31st, Wednesday 2nd, Thursday 3rd and Friday 3rd.

You don't get post-Xmas blues if you work 11 out of 14 days over the festive period, have almost no family but still have LOADS of the Xmas food you bought yourself. Yummy!

Darkestnight · 07/01/2019 15:28

I'm sad it's gone and gone to quick but most of my Xmas except Christmas day I was working so i was not in a Christmas mood. But missing the lights and the food and the tree.

Snugglepiggy · 07/01/2019 15:31

I'm that strange creature that whilst not hating Xmas really dislike the protracted build up to it, and find it a bit overwhelming. Too much of everything - food, which I love but am glad to get back to simpler meals.Socialising -I like it but need some space in between things. So I have been loving the last few days.I like January. But then I like my job, only work part time and don't have a commute. Plus get to see lots of daylight as work outdoors. That ,makes a huge difference

ILoveDaveGrohl · 07/01/2019 15:35

I have post travel blues! I got home from travelling a few days ago, I'm skint, it's cold and I'm in a deep depression Sad

NoShelfElf · 07/01/2019 15:41

I see where you're coming from but I love returning to routine and normality too. Do you take your kids to any playgroups or classes or anything? There will be nursery this year too I would imagine? Lots of things to plan and look forward to Smile

moanymoaner · 07/01/2019 16:03

Well I was feeling glum about returning to work which is really demanding however I have been struck down with tonsilitis so havnt actually gone back!!

PumpkinPie2016 · 07/01/2019 16:09

A little bit - it has been my first day back at work so had to get up early and be productive.

No relaxing/drinking tea whenever etc.

Plus, I think I have a UTI as had awful back ache/pain around kidneys and down where the urinary tract is. Really struggled to get a doctor's appointment but managed to persuade the receptionist that I needed to see someone. Going soon and hoping to get something because it's rubbish feeling like this.

Cherrypi · 07/01/2019 16:12

Do 30 days of yoga with Adrienne on YouTube it’s currently staving off my January blues.

WetWednesdays · 07/01/2019 16:40

Yes the dark evenings felt cosy before Christmas - now they just feel cold and depressing Sad

confused I've totally failed to get out of the house today but will definitely be going for a walk tomorrow!

Yes! January is cack!!!

Pursefirst · 07/01/2019 16:48

YES.

January is horrible, its my first day back at work, I miss my family (live on other side of the world), day 1 of the diet and it is currently -22. Load of bollox tbqh.

winesolveseverything · 07/01/2019 16:57

Yes...
I miss the pretty lights that make everything feel cheerful and cosy. And the mounting excitement that starts at the end of Nov...
We've taken it in turns to be at work all over it (emergency services) but the few days we did have as a family have been really lovely.

Hate January and it's grey, depressing feel! Seems a long time until we get the light, sunny evenings back..

Comforting myself with the thought that Christmas will actually be back in the shops in August... And then I'll moan and say how ludicrous it is!!!

Theunreasonableone · 07/01/2019 17:05

January is awful; no money, dark, damp and depressing, having to stop eating an excess of “nice” food.

I’ve had 3 weeks off work and me and DC all back in tomorrow. Easter seems like a long way off!

Ihadacrushoncoreyhaim · 07/01/2019 17:18

Washing machine is on the brink too!
skint, missing italy ( was there 28th - 3rd), already eaten so much sugary food today through boredom, i'll have to hammer the gym tonight.

choli · 07/01/2019 17:41

I think that's why I prefer Christmas in the U.S. We take less time off work and don't go crazy with the food buying. We enjoy it but there is much less of a letdown when its over.

And now it's skiing season.

Storybarn · 07/01/2019 17:44

Worked from home today, so ploughed through the eleventy million emails that have piled up in my in box.

Horribly grey so will wear my brightest outfit to the office tomorrow. Might need to pre warn my boss to bring in his sun glasses!

WetWednesdays · 07/01/2019 19:04

Argh I used to hate the post Christmas email purge when I had an office job. Half of them totally irrelevant by the time you get to them in January!

Choli yes although we don't have thanksgiving which I'd imagine spreads out the festivities a bit? Smile

OP posts:
sushisuperstar · 07/01/2019 19:04

Skint, everywhere you look bloody diets lol, dark and no jolly lights to brighten stuff up.

And already we have it rammed in our faces that easter is on the way (creme eggs are back!!!)

WetWednesdays · 07/01/2019 19:08

pursefirst I'm in the opposite situation - had a v good friend come over for the first time in years from the other side of the world. Missing friend very much since they've left - as I'm sure your family are with you Flowers
