The nice food has all gone, family and friends have gone home (other ends of the country) DH has gone back to work 6 days pw and I'm at home with 2 kids under 3 on my own.

Oh and the washing machine and car are on the blink. Anyone else feeling a bit blue today?

I am trying to look on the bright side. New year with new possibilities. I also ate and drank too much over Christmas. It is hard being at home with 2 under 3 though

StreetwiseHercules · 07/01/2019 20:11

“I'm at home with 2 kids under 3”

That’s quite enough in its own.

Willbeatjanuaryblues · 07/01/2019 20:14

January early February is my worst month of the year.

I'm yearning for summer, spring, and planting.
I find it very hard to get through.

PooleySpooley · 07/01/2019 20:14

I went back to work today and half way through the day I realised I had booked leave until tomorrow Blush

Oblomov18 · 07/01/2019 20:20

Taking the decorations down makes the place stark and bare.
Dry January and low carbing is tough. Planned to do veganuary aswell, but no chance.

Hurt myself twice today. Got a cold aswell. Generally miserable.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 07/01/2019 20:21

That’s the one benefit of working Christmas, you don’t get the overwhelming dread at going back to work 😆
I do hate this time of year though; no money, crap weather and now our car has died so I have to cycle to and from work in the dark which I hate. Love cycling in the summer but it scares me slightly in the dark.

Roll on spring

peachgreen · 07/01/2019 20:23

I'm with you. Not a big fan of summer either so for me it really is the long slow crawl to next Christmas! Although my daughter will be 18 months this summer so I'll probably be grateful to be able to get her outside a lot, so maybe I'll enjoy it more than usual.

SerenDippitty · 07/01/2019 20:26

Yes sitting in front of a SAD lamp here.

Girlicorne · 07/01/2019 20:34

Yep same here, feeling very low and tired today having returned to work after 17 days off. The kids are tired and sad too. I miss the tree, the lights, the 50 days of Christmas, the elf on the shelf, Costa and McDs festive coffees, mulled wine, the excitement, getting up when we want, lazing on the sofa in front of the fire with my kindle and some gin at night..... feels like a long time until half term although we ve got a lot of nice things to look forward to this year, the first one is nt until half term!

TeaAndNoSympathy · 07/01/2019 20:39

Yeah.

Christmas decs are all down and the house looks empty and stark.

It’s cold, I feel fat after Christmas indulgence, work is exhausting and I’m driving to and from in the dark still. It seems like a loooooong time until spring.

Willbeatjanuaryblues · 07/01/2019 20:46

I've still got everything up and will keep fairy lights up after the docs cone down

WetWednesdays · 07/01/2019 20:47

Youngest has teeth coming through too - I'm drowning my sorrows in chocolate! Wish I had the willpower for dieting but actually not really Grin

Yeah, I checked all my lottery tickets too. Haven't won.

halfwitpicker · 07/01/2019 20:56

I need to organise our summer hol

TryItAndDieFatLass · 07/01/2019 21:08

Took DS back to U ni on Saturday and DD to college at 5am today. The house is bare and quiet (though scarily tidy). Roll on Spring

PinkSquidgyPig · 07/01/2019 21:11

No, I only had 5 days off in nearly 3 weeks and actually worked almost twice my normal p/t hours, whilst having a chest infection which kept me coughing all night. Also had to work on my weekend off.

All of would have been ok if my DH had actually done any chores above loading the dishwasher almost once a day. Moan moan, whinge whinge!😂
I'm delighted it's all over and things are getting back to normal (although not back to school until Wednesday!)

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 07/01/2019 21:15

Don’t shoot me but I quite like it! Fresh start, back to normal healthy food, house all tidy, some good tv series returning, weather now lovely and cold unlike Christmas which was annoyingly mild so now the woodburner is actually on so it’s lovely and cosy! My caveat though is I’m only part time in a job I love with a 5 minute commute, I think I would feel very different if it was a job I hated and I had to endure tubes/trains etc so I can fully understand why some people hate it.

Ooplesandbanoonoos · 07/01/2019 21:28

Yes me too. Trying to make skme playdate plans with other mums for the week. Also planning when DH can next be off work...holiday booked for April and this seems a long time away!

Thisimmortalcurl · 07/01/2019 21:34

I remember two kids under three well .. very hard work !
Both in there 20’s now though.
For the last 5 years I go on holiday in early jan , obviously a lot of people can’t do that but I worked Xmas day / Boxing Day / 27 th and 30 th . 47 hours in total so I’m enjoying my break away.
I won’t enjoy the lack of money or weight I have gained when I get back but at least it gets some of the jan blues out the way.

OrigamiZoo · 07/01/2019 23:29

Yes, I miss the chilled out days even though I was ill for most of it.
I find the extended run up too much and then it is over in a flash
Have rowed with my family so didn't see them - I usually give in to them but had to break a pattern of behaviour as it wasn't doing me any favours.

Each passing year makes me think of my own mortality and that my children are growing up so quickly. Sad

Tax return (ouch).

Supposed to do dry January, given up and just doing dry weekdays instead.
Supposed to be training for a half marathon but had been ridden with injury last year, feel so unfit and it seems a huge hurdle (did it last year and know what I'm in for.)

Mostly, mainly, dreading tomorrow as I will miss the DC who go back to school.
