And shit... this just sums it up Grin if the picture has attached.

I’m only 29 so not exactly old... or maybe I am Hmm

My brows are over plucked more than anything, so not perfect... but why do girls have to over do it on the brow palette

@Laiste I was going to say something similar. I find the false lashes so distracting. They are so shiny and unnatural looking. I'm partial to a bit of lash enhancement myself and have occasionally had false lashes, including those semi-professional ones but I'm sure (I think?) they just looked like fuller, longer natural lashes.

Beerflavourednipples · 07/01/2019 14:50

Orangutan brows! 😂

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2019 14:52

Time to dig this out again.

MissLadyM · 07/01/2019 14:56

I was in Harvey Nicks yesterday. It's very hard to seriously spend £££ on beauty products when the assistants look like Widow Twankey! The horrible chavvy eyebrows were on all of the staff. Not good in a high end store

AlanThePig · 07/01/2019 14:58

She's going for this? No?

I see pretty young girls on the train with borws like these. I want to have a word but I doubt they'd take beauty tips from a fat middle aged woman with natural brows.

It's all a bit too Space 1999 for my liking.

I don't mine as otherwise they'd be near invisible as very fair, but I only colour what is there. Hate the slug look.

TwiceMagic · 07/01/2019 16:40

When I get my brows done (at benefit) I have to work really hard to prevent the woman doing it from drawing comedy eyebrows on me afterwards. Honestly, it’s ridiculous. I’ve foolishly let them a couple of times and ended up looking like an angry bird (well until I got to the loos and scrubbed my face).

You’d think the fact I arrived with extremely nondescript eyebrows and asked for something that looks completely natural, just a slightly better version of my eyebrows would be a clue that I wasn’t into the drawn on with a sharpie look.

Bezalelle · 07/01/2019 16:42

I don't know. I mean, society/social media set these increasingly ridiculous standards that (some) women follow. Then women get castigated for attempting to meet them. Nobody wins really.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/01/2019 16:44

I used to get mine done in benefit but all the girls in all the stores look like identical clones of each other.

staydazzling · 07/01/2019 16:45

im the same age as you OP, a lot of this comes from the 00s mad overplucking trend that left us all looking like we had something wrong with us, i do draw mine on ,i have to, but i do get compliments so glad to have some grown in now, only took erm..10 years? Confused Grin I call them lego brows.

staydazzling · 07/01/2019 16:49

The thing is Teens need to experiment at this age and look ridiculous till they learn, a rites of passage sort of, its the ones who were never allowed as teens who look arse about face as adults.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 07/01/2019 17:40

I spend so long trying to keep my eyebrows thin!
If I left them, I would have the most fashionable eyebrows ever!

ZeroFuchsGiven · 07/01/2019 17:50

I don't get all this eyebrow malarky but my dd 17 always has hers looking pristine, my Indian friend threads mine for me and that is all I do. I don't remember none of this in the 80s or 90s BUT I was watching Ben hur on tv the other day and I was memorized by haya harareets brows, they really stood out for a film made in 1959. I actually shouted my dd to come look and even she said they were 'on fleek' Hmm

I can't find a really clear pic but hopefully you can see what I mean.

Anyone recommend HD brows?

MNMH · 07/01/2019 18:39

*formerbabe

Eyebrows should look however the owner of the eyebrows wants them to look.*

Agreed! The picture in the OP saying this is how eyebrows "should" look and to "stop doing them like this" - are we really policing people's eyebrows now? If they don't belong to you, it's not of your concern.
That's not to say I HAVEN'T judged the way some people do their makeup because I'd be lying, but I keep my thoughts to myself 'cos it ain't my face.

Great article showing eyebrow trends throughout the decades.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/01/2019 18:42

I was looking for a new lipstick the other day and the make up racks were full of thousands of different eyebrow products. I mean that wasn’t even a thing three years ago even. Now there’s products for doing all sorts with your eyebrows. I feel very left out.

I expect the next craze to be microblading a big bushy minge

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/01/2019 20:21

OneStep

That girl in your post looks like Joe Suggs off Strictly - but girly.

Not a good look IMHO.

(okay - not H. Just IMO - nothing H about my O)

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 07/01/2019 20:49

I use a wee bit of pencil/powder to fill out sparse bits but have naturally dark eyebrows so don't really need to do much... I grew up in the late 90s/early 00s era of eyebrows plucked into oblivion but (thankfully) my mum managed to stop me!

Totaldogsbody · 07/01/2019 20:49

I agree people should be able to make their faces up whatever way they want, but when it comes to getting your brows tattooed every year at £150 a go that's were I draw the line ( no pun intended)

I just don’t understand what’s wrong with simply following the natural shape of one’s brows when filling them in?! The HD brow thing looks so fake, and particularly out of place when less than a full-face is worn.
I’m 23, so I find it’s quite common with my generation.

It makes sense to groom eyebrows to an extent; to ward off a unibrow or excessively bushy brows... I’d love to see the natural shape of girls’ brows. I bet their unique look is gorgeous compared to those ghastly sharp brows.
