To think that Jeremy Clarkson is doing a cracking job on Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Just that really. He is gloriously politically incorrect, and just tells it like it is.

I think he's great for the part.

It's just a shame that the contestants are not as smart.

I think he's doing brilliantly, actually. Caught the first one I've seen last night where he ripped the piss out of someone in t shirt and jeans. Hilarious!

Sparklesocks · 04/01/2019 21:38

I’m not sure, I have seen those clips of him fucking up the answers (assuming he knows them and telling the contestant they’re right when they’re not) - it made me cringe a bit!

SneakyGremlins · 04/01/2019 21:41

Ooooh is it on again?

HollowTalk · 04/01/2019 21:43

He's not much use as a lifeline, is he? He rarely knows the answer.

Sparklingbrook · 04/01/2019 21:43

Shock This is MN you aren't allowed to praise Jeremy Clarkson.

MrsWillGardner · 04/01/2019 21:45

I think he’s great for the job 👍🏻

Smidge001 · 04/01/2019 21:52

Yanbu - I've been watching for the last couple of days and he's absolutely brilliant at it! I'm completely hooked! The adverts are annoying, but he is doing a fantastic job.

I also saw the clips where he got all the ask the host questions wrong, but in the 3 episodes I've seen, he's been fine. I think maybe people have realised the sort of things he might know.

Smidge001 · 04/01/2019 21:53

Oh, but is anyone watching now - this woman has a really weird throat. Is it an Adams apple, or a goitre, or just the way she is? Maybe it's just the lighting, but it looks really swollen.

KnockMeDown · 04/01/2019 21:53

He often knows the answer, I think he makes himself out to be thicker than he is.

And I think that it's a very MN to be as brutally honest as he is Grin

I think he’s great !
Couldn’t believe that chap didn’t know that AHA were an 80s band and Sean Connery was Bond in the 60’s and very early 70’s. I was amazed ( but I am a bit of a Bond know it all!!)

And Smidge I agree- there’s something not right with the lady on ATM.

HollowTalk · 04/01/2019 21:59

JC helped the last contestant with the mountain question. The guy muddled up the answer saying Scalfell Pike was climbed, but she thought he said SP was the answer.

MissionItsPossible · 04/01/2019 22:03

That was so fake and he was not a good enough actor to make it look believable, came across as so contrived. He irritates me but honestly it's such a simple show that if you haven't got your eyes on the screen then you can't really tell the difference between him and Chris anyway really.

KnockMeDown · 04/01/2019 22:03

Yep, definitely helped her. Tried to backtrack and cover it up.

HollowTalk · 04/01/2019 22:07

Fenella, I looked it up and Sean Connery's last Bond was 1983, where A-Ha started in 1982. But yes he should have guessed by the dates.

brizzledrizzle · 04/01/2019 22:10

It's just a shame that the contestants are not as smart.

DS and I said the same.
Clarkson certainly helped her out with that Scafell Pike/Helvellyn question - about as much as he hindered the one getting close to £1m the other night by rabbiting on when she needed to concentrate.

Hezz · 04/01/2019 22:14

He's very good on it

MarcieBluebell · 04/01/2019 22:15

Ynbu

GinTimeAtHome · 04/01/2019 22:17

Ooh what Chanel is this on?

ShatnersBassoon · 04/01/2019 22:17

He's better than Tarrant. I couldn't go as far as saying I like him on it, but he's not a toady.

OhioOhioOhio · 04/01/2019 22:23

Yeah I think he's great too.

MorningsEleven · 04/01/2019 22:25

Hi Piers, I'm pleased you and Donald Trump have got a new friend.

NaiceShoes · 04/01/2019 22:27

But yes he should have guessed by the dates.

He was 31 so not even born Confused

I liked the last series he did, and was looking forward to this one but there should be a way to stop the contestants from rambling on for the entire show and not giving an answer. I got so bloody annoyed by the large waffling woman the other night that I had to leave the room, she stopped everyone else from getting a go. Seemed to set the scene for all the others to do it too.

Until tonight, he kept cutting the accountant bloke off when he tried to speak. Maybe someone had told him to keep it snippy, and not before time.
