So impressive to read so many women being successful at so many careers. There is so much talent here.

lpchill · 03/01/2019 22:35

I'm a youth worker. Part time one day 6hrs a week. ( looking to do more hours once my toddler starts preschool) working two youth group projects. (And also hopefully doing 121 work soon )

nandaandm · 03/01/2019 22:36

Finance Director in the construction industry.

Greggers2017 · 03/01/2019 22:37

I'm a substance misuse worker, have to have a tough skin but no day is the same and I do enjoy it most days.

todaywasafairytale · 03/01/2019 22:37

I'm a full-time social worker in a local authority children and families team.

MountPheasant · 03/01/2019 22:38

I work in Investment Banking Compliance. Dull and repetitive but great money, low pressure and quick commute. I go back and forth on whether I’m lucky or not as I don’t always feel like I’ve done much with my day! Would love to have a job I’m passionate about but I love the money...

Can you go and see a careers advisor maybe? What Colour is my Parachute is meant to be great!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen99 · 03/01/2019 22:38

Published, successful author.

suze28 · 03/01/2019 22:40

Primary teacher at a school that's three miles from my house so less than ten mins commute.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 03/01/2019 22:40

Specialist teacher working for a local authority.

Crazy caseload but total autonomy.
Really varied- visit babies and their families, pupils in nurseries, primary, secondary and special schools. Attend clinics and work in a large multidisciplinary team. We also run a little preschool group. It's fab!
Love, love , love it 😊

Crimson72 · 03/01/2019 22:41

great money, low pressure

That sounds like my ideal combination @MountPheasant! Can I ask how you got into what you do?

Foamybanana93 · 03/01/2019 22:41

I’m the person you ring and complain too and ask why your insurance has gone up by 27% at renewal for your car insurance, I enjoy my job though work full time, good salary and decent commission each month Smile

Kemer2018 · 03/01/2019 22:41

Finance officer for local authority. P/t
Flexible hours, good leave etc.
Never boring, always stressful but never fun.
The pay isn't bad.
20 min cycle or 35 min walk commute (no affordable parking).
Insufficient training means I've taught myself from manuals and i still cannot do the job fully.....and I'm the only one who can do this part...

siobhan0710 · 03/01/2019 22:42

Health visitor

Opal1980 · 03/01/2019 22:43

I'm a judge for the social entitlement chambers

bumblingbovine49 · 03/01/2019 22:44

Market Analyst for a university. I work compressed hours over 4 days. Less well paid than previous jobs but ( a bit) less stressful with fewer competing clients and deadlines than previous jobs in the private sector.

Carolwithane · 03/01/2019 22:44

Welfare Rights Officer with my local authority. Recently dropped to 4 days following mat leave

Love it

WitcheryNights · 03/01/2019 22:44

Volunteer manager at a charity. I'm field based but manage my diary so it's a very flexible job. As long as I get my work done, my boss doesn't mind how I do my hours. I don't have kids but lots of my colleagues do and juggle school run around their work and do paperwork in the evenings. Work is very pro family so it's not frowned upon if you have to work from home if one of your kids are ill. Annual leave is very generous so majority get Christmas and Easter holidays off (again, as long as you cover your work, manager never rejects your annual leave request). Just to add I still manage to leave the house at 9:30am and be home for 4pm. I sometimes forget how lucky I am with my job!

whatamidoingwithmylife · 03/01/2019 22:44

Civil servant - decent pay and can work from home 1 day a week. Flexi time and 30 days leave per year.
Horrendous commute of over 4hrs per day though 😩.

OH keeps dropping hints that I should go work as a firefighter with him - he only works 4 days per week on average and will soon earn more than I do. No way I'd get my fat ass through the physicals and fitness tests though 🙈

ilovekale · 03/01/2019 22:45

Sales and marketing manager, 3 days a week in office, two days from home.

TheSheepofWallSt · 03/01/2019 22:46

I work for an arts charity in a senior role than incorporates elements of fundraising, project management, curation, event production and artist development.

It’s more pressurised than people think when I say “charity” - managing stakeholders etc is very involving- and although my office hours are 8-4, Tuesday to Friday, I work from home most evenings and travel more than I would like as a LP to a 2 year old. Daily commute is just 15 mins though, and live in a town with low cost of living, so swings and roundabouts.

I love the variety and creativity of the job, and the outcomes are genuinely life changing for the people we work with, but it’s exhausting and I’m exhausted, if I’m honest.

LeukaeLucky · 03/01/2019 22:46

Placemarking to find ideas too
I might have to change job after sick leave as I've partially lost my audition but was a very happy secondary school teacher, 10 min from home before becoming sick

ohwownosnow · 03/01/2019 22:46

Health visitor. Work 3 days. 40 min commute. I enjoy it most days but it's getting harder as services are stretched.

PearlandRubies194 · 03/01/2019 22:46

@onlymyselftoanswerto1

Me too! I support victims of domestic abuse along with other complex needs. Recently completed my MA and just applied for PhD

I too can’t switch off... Christmas period had me running on adrenaline

SluggishSnail · 03/01/2019 22:48

I am a senior leader in a small biotech company that makes new cancer drugs. It's brilliant and also 'worthy'

planespotting · 03/01/2019 22:50
