Bit too harsh... I'm gutted.

So me n DH have had a great few weeks I do have a few health issues and yes I have gained about 1.5 stone in weight but after my surgeries I can and will lose the weight I have gained. I've decided last couple of days to eat a bit less and cut out the crappy bits and snacks. Anyway messing about usual evening routine I say just general "oh I'd love a nobbly bobbly or mini magnum" and hubby looks at me up n down and says "look if I have to do dry January you can try and stop being a fat mess" I am really hurt he has never said something like this he knows the problems I'm having. So I had a silent huff about and he has said sorry but now I'm so hurt inside as it must be how he sees me.

It shouldn't matter what size you are now, I couldn't forgive the mess part

sizzledrizz · 03/01/2019 20:54

1.5 stones is nothing, barely noticeable. You can lost that in just a few weeks. Plus you have surgeries to get through. He however is an utter arse, whether he does dry Jan or not, and that will take a life time.

brizzledrizzle · 03/01/2019 20:55

What a loser he is.

Isadora2007 · 03/01/2019 20:56

Why did he mention dry January? Have you “told” him to do that? Has he perhaps felt criticism from you (rightly or wrongly)about his drinking? Has he got an issue with alcohol?

alacazam · 03/01/2019 20:56

People who say horrible things, are unholy but with themselves Hun. It's not about you. It's about him and his own self loathing. I'm sure he didn't mean to upset you. Brush if off and try and work together to create a more healthier lifestyle. Sending you much love xx

HarleyQuinnxx · 03/01/2019 20:57

He doesn't HAVE to do dry January just in a game bet type thing with a my dad his dad step dad brothers uncles. So if he has a drink he loses he game and £50 goes in the pot.

He has just brought me in a nobbly bobbly. But I can't bring my self to eat it

alacazam · 03/01/2019 20:57

Sorry I meant unhappy! No unholy. X

SheNumpty · 03/01/2019 20:57

Yes, nasty bastard. I'd be very hurt by that, and find it hard to forgive. It'd also make me want to reach for a full box of full sized bloody Magnums. Flowers

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/01/2019 20:59

Sounds to me as if he has a problem with being off the drink, Harley, so lashed out at you. Disgusting comment, I'm not surprised you're gutted. Don't let him off the hook with it.

paintinmyhairAgain · 03/01/2019 21:00

why is the onus on women to look good when so many men don't give a shit what they look like and act as if we should be grateful for them being with us. i'm happy i've got one of the good guys in life, all round decent, kind and loving.

Orchidflower1 · 03/01/2019 21:00

That’s such a nasty thing to say. So sorry you deserve much better treatment from your oh.

MrsPinkCock · 03/01/2019 21:00

Don’t eat it. Throw it at his head.

Wincarnis · 03/01/2019 21:01

Shove it up his arse

trojanpony · 03/01/2019 21:02

Shock this is HORRIBLE

Jayfee · 03/01/2019 21:02

I am motivated by praise but my grown up son is motivated by criticism. When he was very overweight a relative called him fat and I was very upset. However, it so annoyed my son,he lost a massive amount of weight and has never put it on again. Perhaps you partner, wrongly, thought his comments would provoke you to keep to your diet. Hopefully he will be making up for his ill jusged and unkind comment.

Honeyroar · 03/01/2019 21:02

Christ he's on day 3 without a drink and he's already turned nasty! I'd have cried at that. My husband would never say that, and I'm wY more overweight than you. That sort of shitty comment sticks in your mind for ages. 💐

Flippntuck · 03/01/2019 21:02

That is awful. 😢 No wonder you're gutted OP. What a frickin charming knight in shining armour he is. Not.

alacazam · 03/01/2019 21:02

Eat the Nobbly Bobbly and stick two fingers up at him! (And the stick up his arse!)

Honeyroar · 03/01/2019 21:03

What is a nobbly bobbly?

TeddybearBaby · 03/01/2019 21:06

A bit like a fab. Ice lolly covered in hundreds and thousands @Honeyroar

So sorry to hear this op x

BadlyArrangedToasties · 03/01/2019 21:08

Jesus! My husband’s next meal would be his own testicles if he said that Angry

eggsandwich · 03/01/2019 21:09

I’d shove the nobbly bobbly up his arse.

TeddybearBaby · 03/01/2019 21:10

Sorry my daughter has just told me a nobbly bobbly is much better than a fab 🤭. The only similarity are the hundreds and thousands she said...... think it’s chocolate ice cream inside

HarleyQuinnxx · 03/01/2019 21:12

I'd like to make a point that my husband does not have any issues with alcohol.
He has repeatedly said sorry I just cannot get the words fat mess out my head it's taken over my evening.
We do mess about with silly names etc but never so personal
I'm so upset

OP posts:
mumonashoestring · 03/01/2019 21:12

How is he not in the bathroom trying to get nobbly bobbly coating out of his arse?

Sounds to me like he thinks a mumbled apology is going to make it all better with no real though or effort on his part. Have you told him exactly how upset you are?
