Is anyone looking forward to it? Did anyone who vote leave happy they voted it? Or regretful?

If you think the EU has fucked over British farming wait til you see what a trade deal with the US does to it

JustABetterPlayer · 03/01/2019 14:19

LadyWithLapdog

There’s a good number of dimwits on both sides.

No I do, I find it funny. But then again I find most of the liberal left amusing.

Loveweekends10 · 03/01/2019 14:22

OMG! Delusional! Sorry but I cannot believe people being so blinkered. A year and a half later and Im still annoyed about the whole shambles!

countrygirl99 · 03/01/2019 14:23

Teeniest not trendiest haha. But seriously China's GDP is 4.6 times that of the UK and even though it has slowed down their growth rate is much higher.

Childrenofthesun · 03/01/2019 14:24

I just wonder how China manage to trade outside of the EU

There is no comparison between China outside of the EU and the UK outside of the EU, even setting aside the fundamental geographic issue!

China is vast, with a plethora of natural resources. It is the world's most populous country. Both these things give it an advantage from the start.

It's the world's largest manufacturer and exporter whereas the UK's manufacturing base is in steady decline. Western nations can't easily compete with China as wages are very low there and there is no minimum wage. There is also little compliance with the normal guidelines followed in Western manufacturing - eg around working conditions (working hours in some Chinese factories are extremely long), safety, child labour, environmental legislation etc. Is this the kind of set-up you envisage for the UK?

I think a lot of leavers are really angry and fed up at how it has been managed and cocked up. Theresa may and pretty much all mps need wiping out.

JustABetterPlayer · 03/01/2019 14:25

Wait did someone just compare us to China Confused Like I said, dimwits on both sides.

Lweji · 03/01/2019 14:25

Of course the UK will be able to do trade outside the EU. It's just that it will have to make new deals.
And it will lose leverage for having a much smaller market than the EU as an entire block.
Not sure how the UK based industries will/would fare better under hard Brexit in relation to the EU as a block. What are the figures?

DontMakeMeShushYou · 03/01/2019 14:30

God knows, I do like a trier.

bellinisurge · 03/01/2019 14:31

"Theresa may and pretty much all mps need wiping out."

Watch your language saying shit like that. Someone might think you mean it literally.

Loveweekends10 · 03/01/2019 14:33

Im most certainly not a leaver. Im watching European nurses abandon Uk leaving the NHS short. And NO we cant just bloody train more quickly as you need placement space and supervisers. There are no bloody nurses to supervise. Why are people allowed to vote for something so massive with so many ramifications when they don’t fecking understand a single thing they are voting for. It really pees me off.

I think it's still the same side. QED.

Lweji · 03/01/2019 14:34

More to the point, why are governments acting on marginal results resulting from those votes?

Clairaloulou · 03/01/2019 14:35

Bellinisurge

Sorry, apologies, good point. No I just meant that, in general, politicians just seem to be suiting themselves and leaving the country to rot. I for one feel so frustrated by this but powerless to change anything. Our votes seem to mean nothing!

hellsbellsmelons · 03/01/2019 14:41

Oh yeah.
I'm looking forward to being made redundant.
I'm looking forward to putting emergency measures in place which means a tonne of meetings.
I'm looking forward to all the extra paperwork that I'll need to sort to import or export anything.
I'm looking forward to training my counterpart in Europe to do a job which I've been doing for years.
I'm looking forward to trying to sell my sisters house and the price drop expected, meaning, it's going to be a while!
I'm looking forward to holidaying in Europe and having to queue at immigration when I arrive, delaying my holiday.
I'm looking forward to having to sell my house as I can't afford it anymore due to job loss and being unable to get another job.
I'm soooo looking forward to claiming benefits that I wouldn't need to do if we just bloody remained!
I'm looking forward to the economy crashing.
I'm looking forward to the pound being worthless.
I'm looking forward to the property crash.
It's gonna be great.
But of course none of that will happen.....!!!
RIGHT????????

Quietrebel · 03/01/2019 14:48

What seems to have happened here is that politicians have abdicated their responsibility entirely. Hiding behind the referendum result is not the same as respecting it. It was entirely possible to respect the vote and to still do due diligence (ie. Impact papers before triggering A50, costing of various options, impact on the GFA etc). I also think in future it should be compulsory for cabinet ministers to have actually worked in the field they represent in order to be appointed.

As it stands, we are leaving the EU. If you voted to leave, which I presume you did, why do you think your vote means nothing? What do you think needs to change to make your vote mean something?

missperegrinespeculiar · 03/01/2019 14:52

China? China you say? god, and I try to tell my EU friends Brexit cannot be explained JUST by British (English?) delusions of grandeur!!!

Clairaloulou · 03/01/2019 14:54

Permanentlyexhausted

I voted leave, but I didn't vote for the shower of shit that we're getting now. Theresa mays deal is an absolute joke.

SoyDora · 03/01/2019 14:54

How did you see it working then Clairaloulou?

StoorieHoose · 03/01/2019 14:58

“I voted leave but I didn’t vote for this”

I wonder how many times we will hear that over the next couple of months/years

StoorieHoose · 03/01/2019 14:58

You hoping for a no deal then Clairaoulou?

Earthmover · 03/01/2019 15:00

"StoorieHoose

Care to share? In language a little more intellectual?
What exactly are they going to insist upon that is going to be soo much worse?

I, and everyone that I know that voted leave, wanted leave to mean leave. For us to stop kowtowing to bloody Brussels, where we are dictated to by unelected "leaders". I fully believe in our country's ability to stand on our own two feet but at the moment our government are making us look like grovelling weaklings. The world will not end if there is a no deal brexit!
