Is anyone looking forward to it? Did anyone who vote leave happy they voted it? Or regretful?

I'm hoping the minimum wage will have to rise as there won't be a glut of people able to work for peanuts.
I'm hoping immigration from the rest of the world will increase.

Getting rid of the EU means we won't be exploited by big businesses.

Yes of course it does. That's what JRM and BJ support Brexit.

ForalltheSaints · 03/01/2019 13:07

There is only one good thing I can think of, and that is 22 UKIP MEPs not having a salary from the taxpayer anymore.

BrexitDestruction · 03/01/2019 13:17

It'll be great for the EU too as they won't have to put up with us anymore and they can take full advantage of all the relocating companies and the best brains of the UK.

Chlorinated chicken is just a single example used to illustrate concerns regarding US farming and meat processing practices. Health and safety in the meat processing industry is also abysmal in the states so your meat is coming at the cost of someone’s health. My favourite example of this- workers developing a neurological disorder from inhaling aerosolised pig brains. Mmm, tasty.

So which government will that be Boswell? Don’t think brexit is going to herald a new age of equality, fairness and transparency looking at the hard core brexiteers Confused And with the FPTP voting system as it is nothing is going to change very soon lol

EerieSilence · 03/01/2019 13:36

@Itinerary, your post made me laugh.
Apparently the patriotism within a historically democratic and peaceful country like ours is "dangerous nationalism" but the EU is extremely nationalistic about itself.

Describing a country that used to be the centre of the biggest Empire in the modern history, with colonialism at its centre, with museums full of stolen artefacts as historically peaceful is surely a joke, isn't it?

Lweji · 03/01/2019 13:38

Don't forget Northern Ireland.

EerieSilence · 03/01/2019 13:43

@Lweji - surely, the Irish should know their place and stop bringing up Northern Ireland like it's a serious issue.

If you don't want to eat chlorinated chicken, don't buy it. If there's no demand it won't be on sale

Total rubbish. We’ll have no way of knowing where the chicken on our pizzas or in our ready meals has come from as the US will insist on abolishing Country of Origin labelling. Same with hormone-injected beef etc etc.

And the whole purpose of a hard Brexit, according to Boris Johnson, Rees-Mogg et al, is to flood the U.K. market with cheap food and goods. Patrick Minford (the pro-Brexit economist that always gets trotted out by Leavers) admits that it will
mean an end to British farming and manufacturing, that won’t be able to compete. He argues that it’s a sacrifice worth making - not sure why or for what.

Ooh don't talk about brexit on here! I haven't seen a person on here that wasn't a staunch remainer!

DontMakeMeShushYou · 03/01/2019 13:56

There are several. But I imagine you put the same amount of detailed and thorough research into the above statement as you did into deciding how to vote on 23rd June 2016.

Ooh snippy! I love that the majority of remainers believe that anyone who voted for brexit is an uneducated dimwit. I have a different view to you, but I don't feel the need to insult you.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 03/01/2019 14:03

Clairaloulou

Was it an insult? Only you know how much thought you put into your statements and decisions. Assuming it was excellently researched and well thought out, why would you feel insulted or think I was calling you an uneducated dimwit?

LadyWithLapdog · 03/01/2019 14:03

So far, I have only seen uneducated dimwits supporting Leave. Racists to boot, as well.

countrygirl99 · 03/01/2019 14:03

Just remember that the people who negotiated the deal with the ferry company with no ferries and T&Cs copy pasted from a takeaway delivery outfit will be negotiating trade deals with the likes of the USA and China. If that doesn't worry you nothing will.

Clairaloulou · 03/01/2019 14:05

Oh please, your comment was full of sarcasm and implication. And so predictable!

I wouldn't presume to to try to compete with the princess of sarcasm and predictability.

You do know what the system of government is in China, right?

I am not articulate and I'm low on brain power after having no sleep with ds, so thank you for that comment. You summed a good part of it perfectly.

If you say so. Wink

countrygirl99 · 03/01/2019 14:17

China is a tad larger than the UK too so just the trendiest bit more bargaining power.
