Is anyone looking forward to it? Did anyone who vote leave happy they voted it? Or regretful?

soydora but I thought it was only the leavers who were dim?

Lweji · 03/01/2019 15:34

Bollocks to that, it's our money it's better in our pockets!

Do you not realise that money is to be made from trade with other countries too?

Are you also against aid to populations at need outside the UK?

Are you pro-border control?
Do you not see that money that goes to other countries supports their development, thereby reducing the need for emigration from those countries? And it also creates new markets for British industries (if there are any) and services?

SoyDora · 03/01/2019 15:34

Obviously not 🤷🏻‍♀️, I evidently am too.

Itinerary · 03/01/2019 15:34

What is "The Plan" for a Britain remaining in the EU? What will it "look like" in 5 or 50 years time? If it doesn't go the way you wanted, what will you be able to do about it? Would you, for example, be content with the world to be a handful of superstates which aimed to merge into a world government with no opposition? If not, why accept the EU becoming this on a smaller scale? Does artificial conformity and suppression of dissent really equate to genuine peace and freedom?

Ok, it's only a few billion quid, neither here nor there? Bollocks to that, it's our money it's better in our pockets! So what if it is only a small amount of our grand total, it's still billions of pounds!
Money that will be ENTIRELY swallowed up in the costs of finding NHS staff willing to work in a hostile environment country Hmm

THat money is less than the tax breaks given by the Tories to UK housebuilders like Persimmon.

Grimbles · 03/01/2019 15:35

If we, as a 'sovereign independent nation' (z snap) want to trade with the EU, will we have to abide by EU regulations on the goods and services we want to trade?

Lweji · 03/01/2019 15:36

I think it's deal or no deal isn't it.

No deal it is, according to the EU, as there's no time to arrange and approve a new deal.
No deal means hard Brexit, or giving up on it.

Itinerary · 03/01/2019 15:36

"In 1939 we turned towards a European future helping and supporting our nearest neighbours"

All without the EU existing.

Lweji · 03/01/2019 15:36

If we, as a 'sovereign independent nation' (z snap) want to trade with the EU, will we have to abide by EU regulations on the goods and services we want to trade?

Yes. But the UK will sell to China and the US who have no such regulations. Yes it will.

Moussemouse

Made peace with Germany? Good god are you serious? I wonder what the Jewish population would think to your comment!

And also, there is a big difference between being friends with our neighbouring countries and being ruled by them.

Grimbles · 03/01/2019 15:37

But, but, but, they need us!!!

Ta1kinPeace · 03/01/2019 15:37

What is "The Plan" for a Britain remaining in the EU? What will it "look like" in 5 or 50 years time?
The Plan involves electing MEPs who actively engage and help to shape the EU to make it work better for Britain.
The Plan involves electing UK MPs who listen to the electorate and work to support the regions and the left behind
The Plan involves engaging with the world through a massive trading bloc to make the world a better place

Brexit involves sitting in the road outside the party blowing raspberries

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 03/01/2019 15:37

in a very warped way, I'm actually quite enjoying pointing out to all my brexit voting families the consequences they now face.

My cousin's DD has just been taken on in a seasonal job in France. Her (dumbass brexit voting ) dad was boasting how well she's getting on. I took a tiny bit of pleasure saying 'shame she'll have to come home in March then'.

Of course it's bittersweet because whilst I want to get him to regret his vocal brexit support I don't want his DD to miss out on the opportunities. 😔

PermanentlyExhausted · 03/01/2019 15:38

I think maybe we should be able to vote on the deal, but not another referendum.

How would you vote on the deal if not by having another referendum?
A referendum is the method used to ask the population directly what their preference regarding a specific question. A second referendum should offer 3 options: TM's WA, No Deal, or Cancel Brexit. If you don't want a referendum, the only other options are to leave it up to MPs (already happening), or to have a general election. How would either of those be better?

Moussemouse

Made peace with Germany? Good god are you serious?

You really need to read Moussemouse's post more carefully.

Grimbles · 03/01/2019 15:39

claira a lot of the 'establishment' at the time were pro-hitler and appeasement ffs...

PermanentlyExhausted · 03/01/2019 15:40

And also, there is a big difference between being friends with our neighbouring countries and being ruled by them.

They don't rule us any more than we rule them.

themoomoo · 03/01/2019 15:40

thinkaboutit why will your cousin's daughter have to come home?

Moussemoose · 03/01/2019 15:41

The pint is we could have but we didn't.

We did not reject Europe. We turned to and supported Europe the exact opposite of Brexit.

Lweji · 03/01/2019 15:41

They don't rule us any more than we rule them.

Yes, but the UK has, throughout the years, behaved like a rebellious child towards the EU, rather than engaging in leading it.

Itinerary · 03/01/2019 15:42

Yes Grimbles and likewise we will only import goods which meet British safety standards.

Lweji · 03/01/2019 15:42

The pint is...

Yes, that's what we all need.

bellinisurge · 03/01/2019 15:46

@Itinerary - what if the goods are too expensive because we foolishly believe we will still have an economy strong enough to have consumers that can buy expensive imports.

Clairaloulou · 03/01/2019 15:47

I feel like I'm on question time surrounded by remainers, just little old me. Am exhausted from a shit night and from trying to express my views without being savaged which mn is famous for. I stand by the views I have and I respect all of yours. It's a really complex issue and I don't think that anyone is completely right or wrong. I'm bowing out now as I've to take my boy to the hospital, but I didn't want to just disappear and give anyone who noticed the satisfaction of thinking they beat me into submission. Forgive my one last act of defiance Grin

Happy new year!

bellinisurge · 03/01/2019 15:49

Hope your little boy does ok @Clairaloulou
