To ask to help me spend £50!

Just wondering if you lovely people could help? I have been given £50 as a Christmas gift and need to spend it soon so that I can tell the person who gave it to me what I have bought. But I am clueless as what to buy! AIBU in asking you to give me some ideas? I’m late 30’s busy working mum with no time for hobbies? Any ideas?

I have a similar dilemma, but I think I am going to spend mine on a lovely notebook to start bullet journalling. Something useful, and stops me looking at my phone before bed.

Sneezein3s · 02/01/2019 08:45

@snowy I like that idea but think I’d soon be too tired to find the time...

I'd go for perfume.

I did just this the other day. I bought myself a new bag and a pretend fitbit type watch from Amazon. I'm hoping they both arrive soon.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 02/01/2019 08:51

Hot stone facial?
I'd do that plus a pedicure and have change for a posh hot choc on the way home!

GenerationSnowflake · 02/01/2019 08:52

Haircut
Primark (no irony, but you will get a lot more for your money there, you find gems in there)
New duvet cover
Tickets for something

what do you like, what would give you a happy smile? handbag, plants, some movie subscription?

UnapologeticallyUnhinged · 02/01/2019 08:56

I spent my Christmas money on a spinning wheel off eBay. Cue lots of chortles from my family.

MrsDannyRicc · 02/01/2019 08:57

I would go for a massage or use it for cinema /comedy /gig tickets

mummyof2boys30 · 02/01/2019 08:58

My dad give me 100 to spend. I bought pair reiker boots at 50, an amazon echo dot at 30. Think I'm going to put last 20 towards new pair sketchers trainers

MatildaTheCat · 02/01/2019 08:58

Cashmere scarf.
Hot stone massage.

PrimalLass · 02/01/2019 08:59

I'd probably buy something from the Hush sale once it starts.

Sneezein3s · 02/01/2019 09:13

Thanks for the ideas everyone- I’m looking at watches. Something I need but wouldn’t usually spend £50 on x

My nan gave me £50 for Christmas and I’m going out today to buy new sheets and duvet set for my bed. Hoping I’ll get a bargain in tk max so I can stretch to a cushion too!

SarahSissions · 02/01/2019 09:59

I'd lie. We buy too much stuff we dont really want, especially around Christmas. Tell them you bought a lovely scarf or had a facial and save the money for when you really want something.

YeOldeTrout · 02/01/2019 11:21

I would buy some kind of sports gear, lycra clothes or new swim suit or great swim goggles, etc.

Eliza9917 · 02/01/2019 11:42

I'd get a spa day from Groupon or living social.

FlossieTeacakesFurCoat18 · 02/01/2019 12:34

Or you could just write the thank you letter and say you're excited to spend it and have your eye on... some if the lovely options pp have mentioned. Then you won't need to feel pressured to actually spend it this minute Smile

HighwayDragon1 · 02/01/2019 12:36

I had a similar dilemma and bought some trainers Grin

Omzlas · 02/01/2019 12:44

I got money too and I think I'm gonna buy a new strap for my fitbit and a(nother) Google Home for our bedroom

Maybe keep it to one side until you see something that makes you go "oooooh, NEED"?

zeebeedee · 02/01/2019 12:47

I got money and I think I'm going to re-vamp my underwear drawer! Nothing fancy, just buy new knickers, bras and socks, and bin all the okish/borderline ones!

BF888 · 03/01/2019 01:16

If your unsure on what to buy for £50 but maybe have an item you’ve seen that’s more expensive you could always say to the person you’ve put it towards that.

If not, I’d totally have a bit of me-time and maybe get a facial or massage if it’s your thing.

Happy spending!
