Can you be too old to dress a certain way?

I've tried out quite a few different looks. Mostly alternative but settled into a "I can't really be arsed" look at the moment.
I miss my amazing outfits and loving my wardrobe, I'm literally a leggings and plain, baggy(ish) dress person at the moment. While it's comfortable it doesn't really do anything for me and I feel like my personality isn't coming through.
I miss my alternative style, mixing things up, feeling confident and just living what I wear.
He's the problem, I keep coming back to a gothic/Victorian type style.
I love it, I love the lace, I love the shape, my head just keeps screaming I want it and I want it now.
I'm going to be 27 this year and a mom of 2.
Am I being ridiculous? I've attached pictures of the clothes I want.
You only live once and all that.
What do you guys think?
I'm worried if I'm already feeling a bit hesitant about the comments I might get (I have low self esteem and high anxiety) then I might already be setting myself up to fail. But on the other hand I want to express myself, experiment and give it a go.
You only live once after all.
Imagine with tights, or black skinny jeans, a nice pair of ankle boots.
It won't all scream gothic, but a nice nod to the culture I grew up with and have always loved.

I'm in my 50s and I would wear that, it's gorgeous. Bear in mind, OP, the fine art of not giving a fuck - if other people disapprove of your clothes, that just means they are inadequate.

Mid fifties here . I like to be more dressed up than suits my lifestyle . But I wear what I like . I wish I had had the confidence to do that when I was 27 . You should absolutely wear what you like . Life is too short and if you feel great in something and it suits your personality you will look great .

Loving all the comments pp have left to say they dress the way they want and don't give a damn. I'm the same. 44 with a peroxide spiky mohawk hairstyle, nose ring and I wear what I bloody well want. Don't give a crap. Love my punky trousers with doc martens and laddered jumpers. Maybe because I've always been in bands that Im so much more comfortable in hippie harem pants than other trousers and like an alternative look god knows lol. I was about your age and had the same reservations about "dressing for myself". Tried Boden and the like which just wasn't me. Looks great on others but not me. There is a fabulous website called Forgotten Tribes where I get bits and pieces from. Be you because you will be comfortable and when you're comfortable you'll look amazing.

I have got a fair bit of Skunk Funk stuff and Natura shoes. And a pair of flat pointy burgundy shoes with a fuck-off huge bow on the
frong from Zara, they get a few Hmm looks! Yay. I have shoulder-length silver/white hair and a necklace for all seasons Grin

TooManyPaws · 02/01/2019 20:26

That stuff is gorgeous. Hell's teeth, you're only a youngster! 😂 I know a great-grandmother who rocks a mixture of goth and hippie. I also know someone around your age with a two-year-old and a great wardrobe of corsets and home-made dresses under them.

Me, I love a mixture of goth, hippie, Frida influence. I'm knocking on 60 and am drawn to velvet, beads, lace and embroidery. Due to arthritis in my feet and joint fusion, I can only wear "sensible" shoes so I get compliments at work on my large collection of Doc Martens. I can't wait for my waist-length hair to go completely grey so I can put in bright multi-colours without bleach. I have several ear piercings and a nose piercing, and work at a managerial level.

If you love it, can afford it and it suits your life, then wear it whatever your age or size.

Bless your heart, I’m sure you’ll look ace.
Also you are so young I thought you were going to tell us you wanted to wear miniskirts and mesh crop tops at 70

Extravagant · 02/01/2019 20:31

If it makes you happy, do it!

Freewheelin74 · 02/01/2019 20:57

TooManyPaws I want to be your friend. 😉

What you wear is entirely your choice (within the legal restrictions of course)

What is essential to wear is a very thick skin.

TheWiseWomansFear · 02/01/2019 23:12

It does scream goth though... idk, wear what you like, 27 is very young. Be prepared for criticism though or comments in the real world.
