I know it's yet another brexit thread but it genuinely just hit me that it's actually happening THIS YEAR! I am truly gutted. Would love someone with political knowledge to come on and reassure me that it actually won't be that bad. I have 3 children who have to live with the repercussions.

buble is on jules holland-this has to be a good sign

British producers will sell less to the EU and will sell more within the UK

I really like the idea of buying more British goods made locally, if indeed that does become a consequence of leaving the EU. That’s one big positive for me if it does happen.

User758172 · 01/01/2019 20:23

I think some people gleefully and absolutely relish the idea of things descending into complete and utter chaos

What a ridiculous comment. Seriously- who are these people? What do they stand to gain? Stop with the nonsense.

I didn’t vote to Leave, but I cannot abide all this whinging and moaning by Remainers. It didn’t go the way we would have liked - fine. That’s democracy for you. And comments like this are ludicrous. Other people are just like you - trying to feed their kids and keep a roof over their heads. They’re just trying to row their own little boat in this life. They don’t want to sit back and watch the world around them burn.

TheVoiceOfRaisin · 01/01/2019 20:23

In what way is no deal better?

Have you ever been tied into an expensive contract for a shit mobile phone and wished you could get out of it?

1tisILeClerc · 01/01/2019 20:24

{No deal is better than a shit deal (as we currently have).}
The 'deal' the UK has with the EU is better than almost all others as you will find out when the UK leaves.

KennDodd · 01/01/2019 20:26

I agree op, I feel so angry about this. I can't imagine our young people will be best pleased when the blue passports start arriving, they will be a visual reminder of what has been taken from them. The government took away my rights to live in 30 countries and gave me this shitty blue passport instead.

HateIsNotGood · 01/01/2019 20:26

As the repondents to my latest post well know, Junkers fluffing of hair is neither a 'best' nor 'argument' to support a leave vote but a mere 'illustration' of what I see as wrong with the EU now, what it has evolved into.

The EU that I voted to leave. For my children's sake too.

Tbh I cast my vote and didn't think it would go that way, I would still vote the same. I am truly sorry that so many are worried about it but I do believe it was the right way to go. I have children and hopefully grandchildren one day too and as am concerned about their future as anyone else irrespective of how they voted (or didn't).

It was a vote to leave the EU, not the world, not against any person wherever they are from, the colour of their skin or how they speak, etc. It was a vote to leave the EU and means just that and that alone.

bellinisurge · 01/01/2019 20:27

"Seriously- who are these people? What do they stand to gain? "

  1. Disaster capitalists. Rees-Mogg's dad literally wrote a book about it.
  2. Corbyn's Momentum bodies - formenting chaos in the hope of emerging victorious is the left wing extremist playbook.
TheVoiceOfRaisin · 01/01/2019 20:27

Wonder why Switzerland didn't want into the EU? 🤔

That doesn't answer the question at all, does it? In what way is no deal better?

TheVoiceOfRaisin · 01/01/2019 20:29

If you attempt to understand the analogy you will get my point.

Nothing stopping you from doing that if you so wish Confused

No, because a bad mobile contract actually has nothing to do with it. I am asking you for a specific answer, not a meaningless soundbite. Hmm

Have you been on the EU referendum forum?

Because stamping on your phone and then having no phone at all and having to start again going through endless affordability checks is better than having a phone that works?

Mistigri · 01/01/2019 20:33

I really like the idea of buying more British goods made locally

Why do you think British manufacturers would export to Europe if they could sell locally? This is just weird. If you wanted to buy local stuff you could - just go to your local farmer's market, and shop on-line for British-made clothing. You won't be doing this at Tesco/Primark prices though.

Likewise, manufacturers who want to export outside the EU can already do this. But it's a tough old world out there, and in practice unless you are have an intellectual property or technology advantage, you are more likely to be able to compete if you establish local manufacturing bases (which can be beneficial to the UK economy if some of the profits are repatriated but doesn't help UK workers very much).

User758172 · 01/01/2019 20:34

And whose campaign was based on lies and disinformation?

For crying out loud - do you think Leavers are mindless sheep? Incapable of independent thought or the ability read and research?

If that’s so - why not blame the Remain camp for doing a less than sterling job then in convincing people of the benefits? After all, if they’d done a better job of countering the lies and misinformation, the outcome would have been different, wouldn’t it?

What are the three shittest parts of the current deal that need getting rid of?

MrsAriadne - So you don't think it's important to respect electoral rules? Shouldn't there be consequences for breaking them?

But it didn't break any laws, wasn't xenophobic or racist and wasn't funded by white supremacists

Could you back that up for me please? It what way was it racist or xenophobic? Confused
