I'm sitting reading a book in the front room watching the neighbour close just 1 of his double gates after driving off his drive. When he comes in layer he'll then have to stop the car, get out, open gate etc. He can be out anything from 5 minutes to all day but does this every time.

Other neighbour leaves his bins at the front of the house rather than putting them down the side of the house. Same neighbour has 4 people who drive living in the house, yet mum always comes and goes in taxis, sometimes with her grandkids, shopping etc. when they are home.

My mum drives her car right up to her back gate then has to walk around the car to go through gate. She then moans that she gets wet doing this when it's raining, but then won't leave a gap at the front of the car!

None of these things affect me so whyyyyyyyyy do they annoy me so much.

I should get a life

People saying 'I am sat' instead of 'I am sitting', etc.

Australian TV/radio presenters who say ashume/preshume instead of assume/presume. It's relatively recent, i.e. they didn't do this when I got here twelve years ago.

Oh, dboo instead of debut.

@Mitzik for health minister! God I wish all that quack nonsense could be better legislated against so as not to waste desperate people's money.

People on the telly who pronounce “controversy” the American way.

Watched 999 Rescue Squad narrated by Maxine Peake last night. She repeatedly said ‘esculator’ Instead of escalator. Drove me to screaming pitch. 😱

I don't know why Paul Martin hasn't been told by someone that it itsn't reckernise, and secketry. He uses both words all the time.

OTOH I've always hated the way some people pronounce mischief, and discovered they were right and I was wrong Grin Still hate the sound of it though.

Sorry to post late on, but I couldn't think of anything when I originally read this thread. However, I can now, and mine is people who are surprised/shocked when they find out they are expecting a baby, despite the fact they weren't taking any precautions. I know of a couple who have just found out they are expecting and are 'just getting over the shock of it.' They weren't using any contraception (she told me) & already have two children so presumably know how nature works. Honestly, no impact on my life but it does get on my tits.
