I'm sitting reading a book in the front room watching the neighbour close just 1 of his double gates after driving off his drive. When he comes in layer he'll then have to stop the car, get out, open gate etc. He can be out anything from 5 minutes to all day but does this every time.

Other neighbour leaves his bins at the front of the house rather than putting them down the side of the house. Same neighbour has 4 people who drive living in the house, yet mum always comes and goes in taxis, sometimes with her grandkids, shopping etc. when they are home.

My mum drives her car right up to her back gate then has to walk around the car to go through gate. She then moans that she gets wet doing this when it's raining, but then won't leave a gap at the front of the car!

None of these things affect me so whyyyyyyyyy do they annoy me so much.

I should get a life

The woman who pushes her bike every morning from the station to where she works (I work in the building opposite hers). Why won't she ride it????

puppymouse · 31/12/2018 20:16

People who can't write or spell. I had always been in the weirdly sheltered position of being surrounded by highly educated slightly intimidating articulate people growing up.

Conversely, these days I seem to know a lot of people who struggle with basic sentences. It irritates the shit out of me but it doesn't mean they're not a dear friend and I should pay any attention to it.

AhoyAhoy · 31/12/2018 20:18

So many things... DH likes to count how many times I say “I hate...” in one sitting.
People who chew gum at the gym.
All TV adverts, and especially the way adverts are always so much louder than the programme itself.
Alexa. She’s bloody hard work.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 31/12/2018 20:19

People on Facebook doing the "like and share to win xyz" when the place they're sharing is nowhere near where they live. I always think "Really Karen? You're sharing to win a chicken and a pound of sausages from a butcher in Dover and you live in Carlisle? How do you propose getting said prize without it costing 10 times what you'd pay for it anyway?"

A seasonal one: I get unreasonably annoyed when people start talking sentimentally about 'white Christmas' in England, and wish me one, and by songs like 'Let it Snow'. I hate snow in England, because it soon becomes icy and slippery, and I find it really scary and dangerous. Now humming 'Christmas in Australia' to take away the taste. It's unreasonable because they can't make it snow just by saying so!

Alltolookforwardto2019 · 31/12/2018 20:32

Mummy
Hubby
Hun
Those who walk fully into shit storms despite family and friends sharing concerns and worries and then slope back looking for emotional crutches when all goes wrong . Selfish I know but so bloody frustrating . I get that it’s not my business but ffs, if people who love you air their concerns over and over , they’re not doing it out of coincidence .

Atchiclees · 31/12/2018 20:38

The tv advert (maybe for Dreams) where the family are all in bed together and the woman is balancing her cup on the end of the new bed. It’s a fabric bed! Only needs one of them to move and the drink will spill on it. Gives me the rage!

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 31/12/2018 20:41

Tattoos on women.
People who wish a dead relative Happy Birthday on FB.
People who say 'anyways'
People who say "I work two jobs" - you don't work a job, you have a job.
People who get sayings wrong e.g. 'The proof is in the pudding', when it's 'The proof of the pudding is in the eating'.
Adults who randomly use capital letters
People who don't charge their adult children rent
People whose adult children still live at home

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 31/12/2018 20:43

My neighbours parking.

We have a car park for all residents where he actually has a garage and space for a car outside of it (so two spaces) we have one. Yet for some reason him and his son park outside the front on the visitor drive?

They also then compmain when visitors park there.

XmasHolly · 31/12/2018 20:48

The woman who pushes her bike every morning from the station to where she works (I work in the building opposite hers). Why won't she ride it????

Is she called Phoebe? Grin

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 31/12/2018 20:50

Oh and people who treat their pets like children especially the ones who take them shopping in those dog pram things.

PawneeParksDept · 31/12/2018 20:50

Yes Worra - I hate didn't want to read and run!

Literally no one knows if you've read it or not you plank so comment or don't but don't make out it's a grand fucking gesture

My hatred of "gifted" I ranted about yesterday on another thread so I won't go there again.

The other thing that irrationally annoys me is a bit Blush

I've had a very difficult year with someone I work with, the issue is in the past now, but was fairly unforgivable and frankly she annoys me by merely breathing at this point.

yummyscummymummy01 · 31/12/2018 21:01

People who say 'bless you' in reply to a comment or story.

Feels so patronising! Grrrrr Angry

theonetowalkinthesun · 31/12/2018 21:05

Omg as PP said, when people put salt on food when they haven't tasted yet! Drives me crazy! Screaming in my head "it could be perfectly seasoned to your taste for all you know, try it first!!"
And also when presenters on TV programmes or the news or anything end it with "and we'll see you next time" - you haven't seen me! I've seen you! I'll see you next time!

outforawalkbitch2018 · 31/12/2018 21:46

People who say brought when they mean bought.

Usually the same people who also say draw when they mean drawer.

Hate it Angry

MrsWillGardner · 31/12/2018 21:56

When’s tv presenter introduces a famous act like the following example:

“Please welcome, the GORGEOUS, Katherine Jenkins!”

other celebrities are available

Mewe · 31/12/2018 22:08

People who lease their cars instead of buying them. Very irrational and nothing to do with me but still annoys me. It annoys me that it vexes me so.

Poor grammar.

People that do not know how to use a knife and fork properly, insisting on holding a knife like a pen Hmm.

userschmoozer · 31/12/2018 22:11

12 pages in and no one has said mimes, buskers or street entertainers.

theWarOnPeace · 31/12/2018 22:12

Can someone please agree with me that Chrimbobs is THE worst word ever stupidly cobbled together? I can only assume it’s an abominable mashup of Christmas and holibobs. What did they do in that film where they wiped their memories? I need that.

PinkAvocado · 31/12/2018 22:14

People who use ‘gift’ as a verb and ‘make’ as a noun.

Absolutely petty and no impact on my life but it really annoys me.

theWarOnPeace · 31/12/2018 22:14

outforawalk no, that’s not irrational. When I meet someone I think is quite nice, I think to myself “please don’t let them be a person who says brought, or somethink” pleassssssse!

Nothisispatrick · 31/12/2018 22:14

OOH another thing that annoys me is the presenters on Sunday Brunch and how little they seem to care about their guests

I’ve only read the first page but this! They are awful awful interviewers and hosts.

I watched an episode where the guy from the libertines was on. He was with his new band and explicitly said he wasn’t there to talk about the libertines and his new band were different. Sunday Brunch guy nodded along with vacant smile on his face then said ‘so the libertines...’. It was embarrassing!

PinkAvocado · 31/12/2018 22:18

Sunday Brunch guy nodded along with vacant smile on his face then said ‘so the libertines...’. It was embarrassing
He does this so often! He stands with his arms folded, nodding as though he is listening but then asks what is clearly his next scripted question whether it flows or not!

LouH1981 · 31/12/2018 22:25

People who leave their Christmas lights on the outside of their house until waaaaay after Christmas (or never take them down at all 😡)

BumDisease · 31/12/2018 22:25

People who write things like "carn't" don't deserve rights.
