I know not a big deal and if I don't like it I don't have to look. BUT!!!! What is wrong with smiling???????

Received a lovely photo collage canvas of my dnephew, wife and 3dc. I have a wall in my dining room just for family photos, it's not everyone's cup of tea but I love it, every photo has dns wife pouting like a duck! Of course it will go up but I wish she was smiling instead of pouting!!!!

Out of interest did you ask for the picture op or was it given unsolicited? It’s an odd gift if you didn’t request it.

SydneyFrexkle · 30/12/2018 12:24

Have I travelled back in time? Why don’t you start a thread about eyebrows next? Hmm

Oh good idea, some of them are absolutely horrendous bit hillarious at the same time, glad someone else has noticed it too.

Drogosnextwife · 30/12/2018 14:10

Yes Chester it is sad my niece has been doing it since she was 2!

ChodeofChodeHall · 30/12/2018 14:13

OMG Yes, the eyebrows! We will have fun chortling away when we look back at the current trends in future.

forthelifeofpomme · 30/12/2018 14:18

In the future, Duckface will be laughed at as a sign of the times like mullets. Such photos will be used as 50th birthday banners on bridges to titilate family members.

bernadettesmurf · 30/12/2018 16:05

It wasn't a gift I asked for but I am close to them so it was an appreciated thought. They're regular visitors to my house and know I like to update 'the wall'
As I said I know it's not to everyone's taste but I like it, I'd just like it better if it was an actual representation of how she looks, not a duck :/

I got out of the car at Costco yesterday and saw another couple getting in theirs. The woman was young, twenties, with a toddler in her arms. She had jet black dyed hair with extensions, really heavy jet black slug eyebrows, orange fake tan and far too much lip filler. She looked like a drag queen in his 40s, not a lovely, natural young woman of 20 something. I found myself muttering to myself 'God that poor child - imagine looking back on photos of you with your mother when she was young and seeing that. You'd jump out of your skin.'

It's not really anyone's rose tinted vision of a wholesome young earth mother, is it?

arethereanyleftatall · 30/12/2018 16:35

Damn. 16 hours after the original post, and no one has said why they do it. I'm so intrigued. It looks absolutely ridiculous, but I don't know anyone who does it to ask why on earth they do. I don't get it, because it's not a secret that most people find it makes the person look ridiculous.

olympicsrock · 30/12/2018 16:36

When I smile I don’t show my teeth - it’s just the way my face, teeth are shaped - it’s a real effort to smile showing teeth and looks unnatural. My son who looks like me smiles just the same way.

Lomondstripe · 30/12/2018 16:38

Did the young woman tell anyone she was a wholesome young earth mother?! Not a look that’s to my taste, hence I don’t have it - veritably wouldn’t judge someone’s character or motherly prowess based on a glimpse in the Costco car park!

BadlyAgedMemes · 30/12/2018 16:40

I've spent a little while gurning here, trying to see if I can smile so that my teeth show, and it feels very weird and unnatural. Any picture of me like that wouldn't be of a natural smile, for sure.

XmasHolly · 30/12/2018 16:43

I was picked on at school for having discoloured teeth (an enamel problem, not poor dental hygiene) and I would no sooner smile with teeth showing than I would show my bum to the queen.

recklessruby · 30/12/2018 16:56

Why they do it? Not sure but I think they think (wrongly) it makes them look "sexy". Also hate the boobs thrust out to the chin look with very low cut tops!

recklessruby · 30/12/2018 16:58

And photos of me and my friends when we were young look like a different species to today s girls ( I know I m oldGrin).

Mummylife2018 · 30/12/2018 17:01

They do it to look chavvy I think? The more duck-like the more common aka 'cool'

KirstyAllsoppsFatterTwin · 30/12/2018 17:02

I'm not judging her character, just her look.

LagerthaTheShieldMaiden · 30/12/2018 17:05

I also hate when people smile without showing their teeth, I think it's really unnatural

My teeth are horrible, I hate them. So I never smile and show them.
