Just saw pictures of the Royal Family coming out of Church at Christmas and was struck by how incredibly thin Kate is, especially around the waist and hips.

I'm sure I will be accused of just feeling jealous, but honestly I would be concerned if I saw an 18-y-o girl that skinny, let alone a woman in her 30s with three children. I can't imagine how severely you have to diet to be that thin so soon after giving birth. I know she is naturally slim but even so, I am worried the constant media attention is having a bad effect on her self-image/mental health.

I have a friend who met her, she said she thought she looked thin in photos but in real life it is painful to look at! She said she is so painfully thin she looks ill. I was so shocked!

Yes, to repeat, the camera adds 10lb so she is thinner than she looks. I think it's quite right cthat we should be concerned by anyone who looks notably underweight ... anorexia is still the biggest killer of younger women than any other illness.

and then quite recently at VERY close range and she was not "on duty"

She does not look ill, she does not look gaunt, she is no thinner than many other fit young west London mums. She is normal and a healthy size.

Too many people justify their bitching of her as an excuse for saying that size 14 is a healthy size when its not, its fat.

2019 size 14 is 1980 size 20/22 or thereabouts. Whether it's fat or medically obese or not depends on your height. At 5ft or less i think you would be obese. At 6ft or more, maybe ok or overweight.

I'm 5'10 and wear a size 14. I'm not at all fat. It's a 31" waist, so at my height, it's not a problem.

Roffle at getting arsey about thin shaming and bitchiness on this thread and in the same breath declaring anyone who is a size 14 is "fat".

Is it the norm these days to judge thin women? I'm sure they get breakfast in bed and all that.

I've seen her up close, FWIW, when she carried out some engagements in our town. I was right at the front of the cordoned-off area and both she and William came over to speak to the group of kids standing beside me. She looked very healthy and slim, not at all gaunt, and her hair was massively envy-inducing...

Loads of the mums at my children’s school and at my church are as slim as Kate. I think it depends where you live but I regularly see slim mums.

Why would they hide any fertility help they may have had? The Wessexes have openly said that they used IVF for their second child, and the Obamas for both of theirs.

Blimey, that's a bit full on.

I don't think she is unhealthy physically. Does she look older due to the weight loss, yes, you always see it on someones face.

I would imagine she has put herself under pressure to be that weight due to the media but that's her choice.

I think modern society has convinced itself that bigger sizes are normal, this is more worrying health wise than anyone being thin.

Some people are naturally very slim. I dare say it's because there are so many porkers in the U.K. that anyone naturally very slim is so often labelled anorexic.
It can either be down to a fast metabolism, or a naturally small appetite.

But either can be resented by the porkers, who prefer to think that X must be starving herself.

Justgettingstarted I think it's fair to say though that your size 14 body is exceptional and that most size 14 women are carrying significantly higher percentage body fat than you. You look slimmer than me, and I'm a size 8. You must be incredibly muscular, plus have a broader frame, which is not the norm for most women. You look amazing by the way

Actually I kinda look like that at a 14. I'm 5.7 and muscular. I could often take a 12 in bottoms but never ever on top. Solid medium in clothes size also.

I just don't look like that at the moment which is why I'm in slimming world! 😂😂😂😂 Getting there though.....

That said, even if she looked good at that size I suspect if Kate was a 14 she'd be aghast. She does not come from a family where there's ever been a size 14 by the looks of it!
